Debuted as the most advanced and high-performance Corvette ever, the C4-generation Chevrolet Corvette ZR-1 rivaled the performance of some of the world’s most expensive supercars with its Bilstein FX3 adaptive suspension and an all-aluminum 5.7L V8 LT5 engine developed in collaboration with Lotus. This 1990 example represents the ZR-1’s inaugural model year and comes finished in Bright Red with Red leather adjustable sport bucket seats, optional dual removable roof panels, and electronic conditioning. It was acquired by the prior owner in 2016 and is now being offered for auction by its seller out of New York while showing approximately 48k miles on the odometer.
Compared to a standard C4 Corvette, the ZR-1 features a wider tail and a convex rear fascia with square taillights. This example is finished in Bright Red and has been modified with an updated 1991-style front bumper and 17″ sawblade wheels. Equipment includes optional dual removable roof panels, pop-up headlights, fog lamps, fender vents, and power-adjustable and heated side mirrors. The seller notes that the tires are older, and the car’s exterior remains in very good overall condition. Detailed images are provided in the gallery along with a clean CARFAX report.
Inside, this Corvette features two power-adjustable sport bucket seats upholstered in Red leather along with matching carpets and door panels. The driver is provided with an onboard computer, power windows and locks, optional electronic air conditioning, cruise control, and a Delco Bose Gold Series audio system with CD and cassette players. The seller indicates some wear is present on the driver’s seat bolster and the oil pressure gauge is inoperable, however, a new oil pressure sender switch is included with the sale. The radio also has some functional issues and the steering column has slight play up and down.
The ZR-1 is powered by an all-aluminum 5.7L LT5 V8 engine which was designed in collaboration with Lotus and built by Mercury Marine. Up to 375 HP and 370 lb.-ft of torque are sent to the rear wheels through a 6-speed ZF manual transmission and a limited-slip differential. The ZR-1 can accelerate from 0-60 in less than 5 seconds with a top speed of around 180 MPH. The steering, braking, and suspension systems were also designed in collaboration with Lotus, and the car is equipped as standard with Acceleration Slip Regulation (ASR) traction control and a Bilstein FX3 adaptive suspension with three driving modes. The seller indicates service records are available dating back to 2016 and total approximately $4k.
This sale will include the original window sticker, owner’s manuals, and a clean title.
The seller would like you to know: “It’s very clean. A stock, unmodified ZR-1.”
