Representing Toyotas flagship 4x4 of the 1980s, the 60 series was designed to compete in the emerging SUV market. This 1989 FJ62 version has been fitted with a 5.3-liter Vortec V8 engine mated to a 4-speed 4L60E automatic transmission. Refinished in dual-tone tan and gray with contrasting decal stripes over gray upholstery, it has also been upgraded with a 4″ Old Man Emu suspension lift, 17″ 9SIX9 wheels, an ARB front bumper, a Slee Offroad rear bumper, a Safari air intake snorkel, and much more. This FJ is now being offered for auction by its seller out of Florida with approximately 145k miles showing on the odometer.
The exterior has been refinished in tan and gray adorned with red and gold-themed livery. Modifications include an ARB front bumper with a brush guard, PIAA driving lights, a Safari air intake snorkel, side steps, and a Slee Offroad rear bumper with a receiver hitch. Additionally, the ride height has been lifted with a 4″ Old Man Emu suspension kit, and a set of matte bronze-finished 17” 9SIX9 wheels have been fitted with Advanta ATX 850 tires. Imperfections are noted, and detailed images are provided in the gallery along with a CARFAX report showing damage in August 1994, February 1997, and March 1998.
Inside, the cabin features gray vinyl complemented by striped gray cloth-upholstered front bucket seats, rear bench seats, and door panels. Equipment includes a two-spoke steering wheel, a center console, air conditioning, power windows, and a rear window defroster. Additional amenities include an AutoMeter tachometer, an Equus fuel level gauge mounted beneath the dash, a Blaupunkt Syracuse stereo, and Panasonic speakers. The seller notes the right front door speaker grille is missing.
Power has been upgraded with a 5.3-liter Vortec V8 engine installed under prior ownership. An aluminum radiator and a cold air intake were also fitted. The rear or all four wheels are driven through a 4-speed 4L60E automatic transmission and a two-speed transfer case with a Nova adapter. Equipment also includes power steering and four-wheel disc brakes.
This sale will include a clean title.
