We are pleased to present this beautifully configured 1989 Porsche 930 Turbo offered in Grand Prix White over a two-tone Burgundy and Black leather interior.  Representing the final iteration of the 930 Turbo, the 1989 model is the only Porsche to feature the legendary G50/50 5-speed manual transmission making this one of the most collectible air-cooled Turbos on the road.  Outfitted with some subtle modifications and performance upgrades, this well-documented 930 is now being offered for auction in fantastic driving condition showing approximately 41k miles on the odometer.

The Grand Prix White finish on this Turbo is stated to be in excellent overall condition with a few touched-up stone chips on the front-end.  A recent PPI by Speed Sport Tuning indicates that the driver’s side door has been refinished; detailed images are provided in the photo gallery.  This 930 rides on 17” Fuchs replica wheels which are wrapped in fresh Nankang tires.  The seller confirms that an original set of genuine 16” white-centered Fuchs wheels will be included with the sale.  With its wide hips and quintessential Turbo spoiler, the 930 is regarded among the most visually distinctive 911’s ever built.

This 930 is factory finished in black and Burgundy leather making for an extremely desirable color combination.  The interior is noted to be in excellent shape with all gauges and accessories fully functional, however, the seller has indicated that the A/C does not blow cold at this time.  Upgraded MB Quart speakers have been installed, although the original components will also be included with the car.  Exclusive factory options include:

  • Limited Slip Differential
  • Steering Wheel w/ Raised Hub
  • Shorter Gear Shift Lever
  • Wheel Centers in Grand Prix White
  • Amplifier system
  • Electric Sliding Sunroof
  • “CD-2” CD Player w/ Radio
  • Supple Leather Seats

This 930 carries a number’s-matching air-cooled 3.3L flat-six engine rated at 282 HP and 289 lb-ft of torque.  Power is sent to the rear wheels by way of a coveted G50/50 5-speed manual transmission with limited slip differential making for an originally claimed 0-60 time of approximately 4.9 seconds.  The ride height has been lowered and an aftermarket G&L performance exhaust system has been installed (the original exhaust will be included in the sale).  Records and invoices confirm that this 930 has been kept up to date on all scheduled maintenance.  Having added approximately 500 miles to the car over three years of ownership, the seller confirms this Turbo to be in excellent running order.

The sale of this Turbo will include a set of two keys, original books and accessories, service records and a clear title.   Also included is a clean Carfax report and Porsche Certificate of Authenticity.  An iconic air-cooled Turbo presented in a phenomenal color combination, this 1989 930 is not to be overlooked.

This is a magnificent example of this vintage. I'm a personal friend of the owner & have seen this car many times over his period of ownership. I actually told him about the car when I saw it for sale at a club event & the next time I was at his house the car was covered in his heated garage. This car has been extremely well cared for by all the owners. The current owner is a long time PCA & 356 Registry member & has fastidiously cared for it under his ownership. In addition, he's a stand up, honest guy as you can read from his responses to queries. Finally, for what it's worth, he's a world class well known musician (but he won't tell you that cause he's too humble). Someone's going to get a beautiful & loved car.

After talking with the PCARMARKET people, it seems that MY old carfax had a clerical error. (which is what I originally supplied them) PCARMARKET ran their own carfax a few days go and are now uploading THEIR recent carfax which has been resolved and shows no mileage discrepancy. Sorry for the confusion!

  • joeyrose (seller) 4 years, 8 monthsago

@Angelny911 First time I am noticing this, I am thinking the dealer wrote down the wrong mileage when inspecting the vehicle (years ago, only about 200 miles off) I can't shed any light on that unfortunately? maybe PCARMARKET can shed some light as they ordered the carfax?

  • Angelny911 (registered bidder) 4 years, 8 monthsago

What is the discrepancy with the mileages does it show on maintenance records where it disputed.?

  • joeyrose (seller) 4 years, 8 monthsago

@davisjrjr The car is in 10589 New York… Yes there is a lift available. Private message me and I can arrange an appointment

  • davisjrjr (registered bidder) 4 years, 8 monthsago

@joeyrose where is car available for inspectIon?
    Is there a lift available?

  • Cozman430 4 years, 8 monthsago

    @joeyrose thank you

  • joeyrose (seller) 4 years, 8 monthsago

Wanted to let everyone know I’m available Thurs, Friday, Saturday (With notice) and Sunday (bet 1:30-4:30 )if anyone wants to inspect the car!

  • joeyrose (seller) 4 years, 8 monthsago

@Mrosilio forgot to answer your second question: reason for selling is to help finance a piece of property. Can’t have everything! This car is an animal, I will really miss it....

  • joeyrose (seller) 4 years, 8 monthsago

@davisjrjr No afternarket parts were used to lower the car… The torsion bars were simply pulled out and rotated a couple of splines to get the right formula it took a while to get it correct. They are new spacers for the euroMeister rear wheels, but the original spacers are included with the original Fuchs to put it right back to stock. I was very careful not to do anything that couldn’t be brought back to original. It’s another reason I didn’t upgrade the air-conditioning… And to be honest haveing driven it only 500 miles in three years I didn’t really use it. It did blow cold when I bought the car but when I checked it as I said it doesn’t blow cold now but I don’t think I have time to get anything done about that before the end of the auction. Thanks for your question!

  • davisjrjr (registered bidder) 4 years, 8 monthsago

What was done to suspension to lower (any aftermarket parts?) and what needs to be done To return to stock?
Why not just charge AC so we know it’s mechanically sound?
    GLWS & Thanks in advance

  • davisjrjr (registered bidder) 4 years, 8 monthsago

What was done or what aftermarket parts are used on lowering the ride height and or what needs to be done to return to stock?
(Btw - looks great, but looks like an extremely aggressive ride height)
Also, why not just have AC charged, so we know it is mechanically sound?
    GLWS & Thanks in advance

  • joeyrose (seller) 4 years, 8 monthsago

@Mrosilio Good Morning, I personally don't care for color matched wheels of the '80's. I always preferred the black centers and polished lip style. Plus 16" tires for the rears are getting harder to find, so I bought the Euromeister 17"s when I lowered the car. As noted in the auction, the original white centered Fuchs are included in the sale along with the original exhaust and all the removed emission parts. Thanks for your question!

  • Mrosilio (registered bidder) 4 years, 8 monthsago

What was the reason for replacing the original fuchs? And what's the reason for selling?

    Thanks

  • joeyrose (seller) 4 years, 9 monthsago

@Cozman430 there’s no problem with the AC, it just needs a recharge it’s still on the original R 12 system.

  • Cozman430 4 years, 9 monthsago

Any idea why the A/C is inoperable?

  • joeyrose (seller) 4 years, 9 monthsago

Hello 930 people, I'll be available this week to answer any questions you might have! This is a beautiful example, hate to see it go!
