The Porsche 928 underwent a major update for the 1987 model year with the introduction of the S4 version featuring new aerodynamic bodywork and a 5.0-liter V8 DOHC engine with four valves per cylinder. This 1989 example is finished in Diamond Blue Metallic over a Black and Linen leather interior and is equipped with a 4-speed automatic transaxle, an optional limited-slip differential, heated and power-operated seats, automatic climate control, 17” Cup 2 wheels, a fixed rear spoiler, and more. Accompanied by invoices showing over $20k invested in service, this 928 is now being offered for auction by its seller out of Canada with just over 129k kilometers (80k miles) on the odometer.
The S4 features a more rounded aerodynamic nose than the original 928 as well as a revised rear end with larger taillight assemblies and a fixed polyurethane spoiler. This example is finished in Diamond Blue Metallic and rides on 17” Cup 2 wheels. Equipment includes optional body-colored side moldings, a roof-mounted antenna, pop-up headlamps, integrated front fog lights, a rear window wiper, an electric sunroof, and black brake calipers with white Porsche lettering. The car rides on Continental Extreme Contact tires from 2019 and 2020, and the seller states over 80% of tread depth is remaining. A small blemish is noted on the passenger side rocker panel which also shows some peeling clear coat as depicted in the photo gallery.
Inside, this 928 S4 features heated and power-adjustable front seats in Linen leather with matching carpets, rear seats, and door panel inserts. Accessories include a black leather-wrapped steering wheel, power windows and mirrors, driver seat memory settings, automatic climate control, cruise control, a central locking system, a heated rear window, a digital clock, an onboard computer, rear seat sun visors, coin holders, and a sound system paired with an aftermarket Eclipse stereo.
This 928 S4 is equipped with a naturally aspirated 5.0-liter DOHC V8 engine rated at 320 HP and 317 lb.-ft of torque. The rear wheels are driven by way of a 4-speed automatic transmission with an optional limited-slip differential, and stopping power comes from fixed 4-piston brakes and ventilated discs at each corner. The seller indicates the car was extensively serviced under the care of its previous owner including replacements of the timing belt, front main seals, oil pump seals, and more. A collection of maintenance records will be provided to the next owner.
This sale will include owner’s manuals, a spare tire, and a clean title.

@Alraf We have uploaded some close-ups of the seats. They are in excellent shape.
Additional content has been added to the gallery for this listing.
@Alraf We have not done any work to them. The seats may have been restored prior to our ownership but we see no record of them being done.
Have the leather seat been dyed/restored?

Or you could drive her home :)
@CARSFORTOYS - thanks and thanks. Can you estimate the cost of exporting and delivering the car to LA CA please? I've moved US cars all over the country, but never done import from anywhere outside the US. An "all in" ("car itself excluded") est or range would be great please.
@GrandNatty We will try it and confirm.
@GrandNatty This is a 2 owner car.
The first owner traded it in at Ferrari Vancouver and the second owner purchased it from there.
He had listed it for sale at auction and withdrew the car from the auction. this was prior to our ownership of the car.
@CARSFORTOYS - TY, you did not address the car's auction withdrawal noted online when the VIN is searched? Also, not a biggie, but I THOUGHT the dash could be toggled from KM to miles w/ a button? Is that true? Like this? Can you try please? "The digital panel was first introduced in 1989 with “software level K18”. The dashboard language could be supplied in German, French, Italian or English and could NOT be changed but on NA market cars the units of measurement could be changed from Metric to Imperial and back by selecting the appropriate display function then pulling the operating stalk twice within one second." Thanks.
@GrandNatty The Rims are OEM Porsche wheels from a 928 GTS.
No cracks at all on the dash or near the vents it is in excellent shape.
We will upload a photo of the Option sticker.
We don’t know the exact California state requirements - however, to be sure I would highly encourage you to check with your local state regarding cars of this vintage
@BigTomSesto1962 The seats are beautiful Ivory leather and in wonderful shape.
The Porsche is in perfect shape everything works and you can daily drive the car, it will absolutely make it to LA. We love driving it!
It is registered in BC and last registered in Alberta, The car has not been smogged
Thank you for everyone’s questions, messages and comments.
We will work on providing as much information asap.
The cranksshaft end play is one of the most important documents the seller can provide for an automatic 928. I had an '8i9 manual S4, and have had a '94 and '95 GTS since. '89 is a very good year for these cars. GLWS.
Can you post the ICBC claims history report for this 928? TIA.
@CARSFORTOYS - PS, why was the car withdrawn from the Canadian auction (per Classics.com w/ VIN)?
@CARSFORTOYS - few QQs please: 1) 17" are OEM or replicas? Car came on 16" manholes per 88 spec and sticker on gas cover 2) Any dash cracks or pod cracks at all? Even small near the vents? 3) Any COA or window or option sticker shots? 3) How hard to get the car into CA given its Canadian history? One of the hardest US states no?
Super pretty color combo. Seats are linen or leather in what color - cream or white or tan? Why selling?
Suitable daily driver or no? Will it make it here from B.C. (to L.A.)?
Would you drive it?
Last registered where? B.C.?
What does not work?
Has it been smogged? Where and last when?
Bid in the amount of $7,750
@jmorin yes very well kept.
We do not have this measurement at the present moment and can potentially look into having it done (weather & shop availability dependant).
Looks like a well-maintained (and documented) car. Is there a recent crankshaft end-play measurement?
