Marking the only year in which the 930 came equipped with the improved G50 5-speed manual transmission, this 1989 Porsche 911 Turbo is one of 600 U.S. market Cabriolets produced for the model year. This example comes finished in Grand Prix White over Black leather upholstery and features optional Sport Seats along with a shortened gearshift lever, a limited-slip differential, and more. It is reported to have been initially delivered to Long Beach, California, in November 1988 and shipped to Maui, Hawaii, in 1989, where it was kept for several years before arriving in Milan, Italy. The car was then imported to New York in 2005 and is now being offered for auction out of Pennsylvania with a Porsche Certificate of Authenticity and approximately 58k miles showing on the odometer. The 930 is characterized by its wide Turbo-specific fenders and tea tray rear spoiler. This example comes finished in Grand Prix White with a replacement black power-retractable soft top along with a matching tonneau cover. Other equipment includes a front valence with integrated fog lights and a chin spoiler, headlight washers, a periscope-style third brake light, and a dual-tipped exhaust muffler. A set of aftermarket straked side air intakes and boxed rocker panels were installed by Alan Johnson Racing in San Diego upon the initial delivery, and Euro-style brake light covers have also been added. Aftermarket Kinesis 3-piece wheels come dressed in Bridgestone Potenza RE760 Sport tires mounted at approximately 48k miles in May 2015. The seller notes very slight paint imperfections have been repaired, and additional images are provided in the gallery along with a clean CARFAX report.

The cabin presents Black leather upholstery and factory options including Sport Seats, a raised steering wheel hub, a shortened gearshift lever, and a black velour-carpeted luggage compartment. Modifications include Billet aluminum ignition key trim and door handles, a black leather MOMO shift knob, a matching shifter boot, Lloyd floor mats with “Turbo” embroidery, upgraded doorstops, a Blaupunkt CD stereo, and Polk speakers. The seller notes that the seat bolsters were reupholstered, a minor scratch is present on the driver’s side door leather insert, a 2" section of the piping on the driver's seat shows some wear, and all gauge bulbs have been replaced.

A turbocharged and intercooled 3.3-liter flat-six engine provides up to 282 HP and 289 lb.-ft of torque to the rear wheels through a 5-speed G50/50 manual transaxle and an optional limited-slip differential. The seller adds that Mylar-backed engine soundproofing has been installed, an AC R134 conversion was completed in 2014, a previous owner installed a Borla exhaust system and a 1.0 bar wastegate spring. Additionally, the ECU and coil are said to have been replaced upon the seller’s acquisition, and an AM02 recall fix was performed at approximately 29k miles in January 2006. The seller also states the valves were adjusted every 10k miles and the hydraulic fluid was purged and replaced during brake servicing. The front/rear struts have been replaced, the suspension bushings were upgraded, and the car was rebalanced and aligned at 42k miles in May 2012. Additionally, a Durlast battery replacement was recently installed. A host of service documentation will accompany the sale.

This sale will include a clean title, owner's manuals, a toolkit, a spare tire, an air pump, a battery charger, the original brake light covers, some original interior parts, a host of documentation, and a Porsche Certificate of Authenticity.

The seller would like you to know: “After 20 years of incredibly solid high-performance and loving care, I proudly offer my beautiful 1989 930 up for sale. This is an extremely clean, low-mileage (~57k mi) cabriolet model and one of the very last fully hand-assembled 930s. The 1989 930 is the only year with the bullet-proof G50/50 5-speed transmission and contains other firsts for the car, such as cross-drilled brake rotors and LED-lit door locks. The classic Grand Prix White paint and full black leather interior are in excellent shape, as is the fully functional powered top. The tonneau cover is in perfect shape. The car has been registered in PA for 20 years, and in this state, vehicles are required to be inspected annually by authorized service providers. The car was always serviced by the best wrench available. At every state inspection, the car was gone over with a fine-tooth comb, not only for the state inspection but by my direction to always ensure top performance and originality. I have a stack of service records that go with the car. This beauty always got what she needed for sure. I just replaced the battery with a Duralast 2 weeks ago. Options: Porsche Sport seats, raised hub leather steering wheel, short shifter, Porsche alarm, LSD, black Velour in luggage area, and CA emissions (system is intact but disabled). AC has been converted. I purchased the car from a consigner in Rye, NY, in 2005 with only 27k on the speedometer. Well-traveled history: This pristine 930 beauty, a California car, was delivered to Long Beach, CA, in the Summer of 1988. A clean CARFAX and maintenance stamps confirm that the vehicle has no reported accidents and was registered in Maui, HI, for four years before being registered in Milan, Italy, for another four years, and then shipped back to the United States (NY). This is no garage queen and is predominantly original. PO’s upgrades: Quad-port Borla exhaust, Kinesis wheels, 1 bar spring. I have added inlaid color Porsche crest center caps to the wheels, aluminum billet color crested door handles, and billet ignition key trim. Pre-licensing Lloyd “Turbo” mats in matching black and gold lettering tastefully round out the interior. All appropriate fixes and maintenance have been performed using only OEM parts. The car comes with a complete tool set and a Porsche air pump. I have all the original parts except the exhaust, wheels, and Porsche amplifier (weight). The ’89 930s have all the goodies, and this is one of the cleanest remaining cars of this marque. This well-cherished 930 has never been abused, runs very strong, and is extremely solid! It’s time for someone else to enjoy this fantastic machine! One very lucky person will be the next owner of this classic beauty!”
