Featuring a sought-after G50 5-speed transmission, this 1989 Porsche 911 Carrera Cabriolet comes finished in Slate Grey Metallic over Light Grey upholstery and features an optional "whale tale" rear spoiler. This example was initially purchased from Fred Lavery Porsche in Michigan before being delivered to Kansas where it was maintained by a previous owner for 27 years. Acquired by the seller about 4 years ago, this final-year Carrera 3.2 is now being offered for auction with approximately 60k miles showing on the odometer.
This 911 comes finished in Slate Grey Metallic with a black power-operated convertible soft top. Equipment includes a front valance with integrated fog lights, a front chin spoiler, impact bumpers, a raised rear taillight, and an optional “whale tail” rear spoiler. It rides on aftermarket BBS wheels dressed in Pirelli PZero Rosso tires with 90% tread reportedly remaining. The seller notes one area on the hood that requires paint correction, and detailed images are provided in the gallery along with a CARFAX report noting damage to the left side.
Inside, the seats are upholstered in Light Grey leather with a color-coordinated center console, door panels, and carpets. Equipment includes electrically height-adjustable front seats, a four-spoke leather-wrapped steering wheel, air conditioning, power windows, a quartz clock, a locking glove box, and a Kenwood stereo. The seller states that the cabin remains in great condition, though the carpets show slight wear and there is minor creasing in the front seats.
Power comes from an air-cooled 3.2-liter flat-six engine rated at 217 HP and 195 lb.-ft of torque. The rear wheels are driven by way of a 5-speed G50 manual transmission. The seller adds that a Fabspeed exhaust has been fitted, and the original components will be included in the sale. No outstanding maintenance items have been reported.
This sale will include a clean title (lien).
The seller would like you to know: “This Porsche is a wonderful example of a driver's Porsche. The exhaust sounds perfectly classy and not too much of a departure from what a purist Porsche enthusiast would hope for. This is in wonderful shape, and I hope the next owner enjoys it as much as I have.”

Driver quality, accident history, carfax mileage discrepancy so unknown mileage, no documented rebuild... its a tough sell without proper PPI and leak down numbers. Is it going to dealtank?

Great looking car, any ideas as to why the Carfax refers to this car as a
1989 PORSCHE 911 CARRERA SPEEDSTER?
@TrumanGeorge442 - no we don't unfortunately. The paint's quality seems to be evidence that it wasnt anything extensive.
Do you have any detail on the extent of damage to the drivers side ?
@Marketwatcher - yes I’ll get the video added. Good call. No engine rebuild
Any chance of getting a video of the top going up and down?
Has the engine been rebuilt at all?
@Chongo - yes there is a reserve, thanks!
Is there a reserve on this car
@croutons - yes it is, good question
Will the catalytic converter be included with the original exhaust?
One day left everyone! Excited to see who this goes to. Such a beautiful example of an ‘89.
This shade of grey is so nice in person. Has a lot of depth as you change lighting positions.
Happy to answer any last minute questions you have!

@windsurfar they are 16x8. I think the rear wheels have spacers to fit the way they do, but unsure of the offset. I’ll add a picture of the original receipt for the wheels from 1990 which is kinda cool
Do you know the sizes of the BBS wheels and off sets? Nice fit, did you use wheel spacers?
Bid in the amount of $9,911
@sullivanautohouse
Thank you! Florida heat makes working AC important
@Bgexpress - I tested the AC today while doing the drive video and it appears to be working properly but could probably use a charge. I’ll get a fresh AC charge done before shipping.
@targatop - no sir, just the BBSs.
Do you have the original wheels?
@Bgexpress it was serviced in the last few years and should be working but it hasn’t been tested in a while since most of the driving is done in fair weather. :) Let me test it today and update you.
Could you comment on the AC functionality?
