Now available for auction is this 1989 Pontiac Trans Am GTA finished in white over a gray leather interior. The "Gran Turismo Americano" variant of the Pontiac Trans Am was the highest-performing sports car Pontiac offered when it debuted in 1987, receiving a Corvette-sourced V8 engine and a WS6 performance suspension as standard equipment. This 1989 example now shows around 37k miles on the odometer and is being offered for auction by its seller out of Massachusetts.

This example wears white paint and features an iconic T-Top roof with removable glass panels. It rides on factory 16" basketweave wheels with WS6 center caps and Kumho tires on all four corners. Additional exterior features include pop-up headlights, a vented hood, a factory rear spoiler, and fog lights. Detailed images are provided in the gallery.

Inside, this GTA showcases gray leather upholstery with matching floor mats and door panels. A multifunction steering wheel features twelve buttons responsible for stereo and volume controls. Instrumentation includes a 140-mph speedometer, voltage and temperature gauges, and an 8k-rpm tachometer. Additional features include air conditioning, power windows and locks, and cruise control.

The 1989 Pontiac Trans Am GTA features a 5.7-liter V8 factory rated at 225 HP and 330 lb.-ft of torque. Power is sent to the rear wheels via a 4-speed automatic transmission. The seller states that the vehicle was recently serviced and received an oil change, spark plugs and wires, exhaust work, new tires, and a new battery. The CARFAX report indicates ownership and regular servicing in Pennsylvania.

This sale will include a clean title.

    Hello everyone, a few of you have asked for undercarriage pics, we are trying to have these done this evening and will post as soon as we have them. We did not have immediate access to a lift until tonight. Thank you all !

    @Chevelle1969 @Chevelle1969 Hello, i believe at the very least most of the paint to be original. We had a collector in our showroom buying another car a few weeks ago that looked at it and mentioned certain items to the body, welds, etc. His guess is the car is original paint. You are also welcome to inspect and drive the car at our facility if you would like. Hope this helps and GLWTA !

    @pinnacleimportsboston @BrabusBoston
    Can we get a close up shot of the rear spoiler, both outer corners? An infamous weak spot on these, always in need of at least a one-time repair

    @pinnacleimportsboston @BrabusBoston
    Excellent response, I appreciate the clarification.
    And yes, this was one of the poster cars I had on my wall as a kid... kinda random. I had a Testarossa, Countach, Slant-nose 911 and then a Firebird Trans Am GTA (in white). As a collector with German background, I can only afford a bunch of classic BMWs but as a kid growing up in North America watching Knight Rider, I still want a Firebird!

    @Martiniman I don't have any at the moment , but will add them in the next couple days once we can get it on a lift.

    @MooF All good and valid questions. I have a dealership and other business in South Florida. I purchased the car from the previous owner in PA, where it sat for a long time covered in his garage. I had the car shipped to my climate controlled building in Miami from PA where the vehicle was gone through all around and detailed. This is also where the tires were installed, along with the miscellaneous maintenance items in the description. I built a new dealership facility in MA , and moved in about 3 months ago. I had all my cars shipped up north once we finalized construction and were able to put them indoors. My intention when I bought this car was never to sell it ( as a kid I always wanted one , but couldn't afford it ). We are filling up fast with the exotics now and I simply don't have the room for toys, so we will be listing a few more next week. I hope this clears up your questions, and I am always available to answer any more. Thank you and GLWTA !

    Seller, some clarification on the location/registration on this Firebird.
    Carfax indicates the car's always been registered in PA. However, there are Florida plates and the tires were replaced in Florida.. and now the car is being sold out of Mass?
    The mileage doens't indicate a car that's ever been driven to Florida .. do you know what the history is?

    Hi, any undercarriage shots?

  • pinnacleimportsboston (seller) 1 year, 8 monthsago

    @classic-michael Thank you for your interest, everything does work in the car. I drove it to confirm all is good. A/C ice cold, and tires were replaced in Florida about 1 year ago and have maybe 50 miles since new. Car was always in my climate controlled facility since purchase from the seller. ty !
