The second generation of the S-Class sedan, the W126 chassis was the longest produced and most successful version of Mercedes’ flagship luxury car. This long-wheelbase 1989 300SEL comes finished in White over a Gray leather interior and was first registered in California before spending a short time in Florida and eventually moving to Pennsylvania in 2017. Now showing approximately 71,500 miles on the odometer, this W126 is being offered at auction by its seller out of New York.
The exterior is finished in White (147U) with darker grey lower body cladding, chrome trim, grey pinstriping, headlight wipers, heated side mirrors, a sunroof, a power-retractable antenna, and a dual-tip exhaust outlet. A period correct, dealer installed pinstripe is present. The seller reports that the 15” chrome Gullideckel wheels are in nice condition but do show some signs of age, as well as some imperfections on the front bumper. Detailed images are provided in the gallery along with a clean CARFAX report.
The power-adjustable front seats are upholstered in Gray (268) leather with matching door panels and carpeting, accented by woodgrain trim. Amenities include a leather airbag steering wheel and matching shift knob, heat-insulating glass, automatic climate control, cruise control, a Becker Grand Prix AM/FM cassette stereo, front-seat memory settings, and power windows. The seller notes minor cracking of the dashboard, and all features and instrumentation are said to work properly.
The 300SEL is powered by a 3.0-liter M103 inline-six factory rated at 177 HP and 188 lb.-ft, sent to the rear wheels through a 4-speed automatic transmission. The CARFAX report shows the last oil change was performed at 71,440 miles. The hood liner and spark plugs wers just replaced in preparation for sale as well as a professional detailing.
This sale will include a clean title, owner’s books, and some service records. This is a great opportunity to own a a well-presented and and nicely preserved W126.
