Representing the final year of the R107 generation Mercedes-Benz SL-Class roadster and the most powerful version offered in North America, this 1989 Mercedes-Benz 560SL is finished in Black over a matching leather interior. It equips a 5.6-liter V8 engine, a 4-speed automatic transmission, fully independent suspension, power-assisted four-wheel disc brakes, power steering, automatic climate control, and 15” alloy wheels. The car was sold new in Santa Rosa, California, and reportedly accumulated the first 100k miles driving between Santa Barbara and Los Angeles as a commuter car by the original owner. The second long-term owner used it as a weekend driver in Marin County before it was purchased by the seller, its third owner, about 2 years ago. Benefitting from extensive service completed under the seller’s ownership, this lifelong California car is now being offered for auction with 210k miles showing on the odometer.
This R107 came factory-finished in Black with a matching retractable soft top and a painted removable hard top. Equipment includes chrome bumpers, trim, and mirror covers, quad headlamps, fog lights, an automatic antenna, variable speed windshield wipers, a third brake light, a dual-tipped Magnaflow muffler, and chrome 15” Gullideckel wheels dressed in 2017-dated tires. The seller indicates the car has been garage-kept and protected by a car cover, although signs of road-going wear are consistent with the car’s age. The cabin is appointed with Black leather upholstery with matching carpets and burl wood trim. Thanks for viewing my auction for the 560SL. This is a great car with lots of recent service. I have driven this car regularly for the last two years and even recently took it on a 300-mile trip during some extremely hot temperatures and it performed great. This car runs better than cars with half the mileage and I would not hesitate to drive it anywhere.
Full disclosure, I have never had the hardtop off the car, but the previous owner had told me the soft top is in great shape. I am not allowed to disclose the reserve but please do know that I took the mileage into consideration when setting it.
