Marking the end of a production run that began in 1971, this 1989 Mercedes-Benz 560SL represents the final model year of the R107 generation and was the range-topping SL-Class offered in North America. Powered by a 5.5-liter V8 engine, this example is presented with a Light Ivory finish over brown leather upholstery. It has been extensively serviced within the last 8k miles and is now being offered for auction by its seller out of New York while showing just over 55k miles on the odometer.
This 560SL comes finished in Light Ivory with a canvas convertible top and a body-color removable hard top. Details include quad headlights, fog lights, chrome trim, and black bodyside moldings & bumpers with chrome accents. It sits on 15" Gullideckel alloy wheels mounted with new tires approximately 1,500 miles ago. Additional images are provided in the gallery along with a clean CARFAX report.
The cabin is trimmed in brown leather with a matching dashboard, door panels, and carpets, along with a wood-trimmed center console. Appointments include a black four-spoke steering wheel, power windows, air conditioning, floor mats, an analog clock, a locking glovebox, an outside temperature indicator, and a folding front armrest. The seller adds that a modern Blaupunkt radio has been fitted, and the radio antenna was replaced approximately 8k miles ago.
Power comes from a 5.6L M117 V8 factory rated at 227 HP and 279 lb.-ft of torque. The rear wheels are driven by way of a four-speed automatic transmission. The 560SL was factory-equipped with power steering, a fully independent suspension, and power-assisted four-wheel disc brakes as standard equipment. The seller states that this vehicle has been serviced by a dealer until 2005, as stamped in the maintenance booklet. Additionally, recent service items have included the following:
In the last 8,000 miles:
In the last 1,500 miles:
This sale will include a clean title, 2 sets of keys, owner’s manuals, an array of service records, a hard top, hard top cover, a toolkit, and a battery charger.
The seller would like you to know: “An exceptionally well preserved, all original, last year 560 SL in a rare and desirable color combination. This SL has been in the right hands since new and while having low mileage it is superior in cosmetic and mechanical condition to many cars with even less miles. The extensive amount of service work done in the last 8k miles is great value and makes this 560 truly ready to be enjoyed. This R107 is one that any automotive enthusiast would be proud to own, regardless of whether it is your first SL or one of many.”

@DKT - Dash is perfect.
- Ceneter console wood has minimal fading and two cracks (both fading and cracks are visible in the pictures).
- Armrest is bent (as pictured), quite common on R107's and easy to correct if one wanted it straight. The bracket that holds it gets stressed and bends, taking it off and bending it back would be all it takes.
Please comment on the condition of the wood on the console and dash: cracks? fading? other blemishes?
Also, with regards to the armrest, it appears to be at an angle to the edges of the seats rather than parallel with them? Please advise.
