Available for auction is this 1989 Mercedes-Benz 420SEL finished in Black over a Grey leather interior. Renowned for its quality, durability, and engineering, the W126 was the second generation of Mercedes' S-Class and the longest-produced version to date. This 1989 example features the long-wheelbase SEL chassis and 4.2L M116 V8 engine as well as a host of driver luxuries. Having undergone a pre-purchase inspection and subsequent service, this 420SEL is now being offered for auction by its seller out of Connecticut showing just over 110k miles on the odometer.

This SEL comes finished in Black (040) with grey lower body cladding and chrome trim on the windows, door handles, and front grille. Features include headlight wipers, halogen fog lights, a power-retractable antenna, and a set of 15″ Gullideckel wheels dressed in Michelin tires from 2007. Detailed images can be found in the gallery along with a clean CARFAX report.

The interior is trimmed in Grey (268) leather with matching carpets and wood inlays on the dashboard, center console, and door panels. Factory equipment includes cruise control, automatic climate control, central locking, power windows, an electric sliding sunroof, a 10-speaker Becker AM/FM cassette stereo, and power-adjustable seats and steering column. The radio code was retrieved and the passenger side mirror assembly was replaced during service in May of 2022. The seller notes intermittent issues with the A/C system and believes the blower motor may need to be replaced, although further diagnosis is required.

A 4.2L M116 V8 engine equipped with Bosch KE-Jetronic electronic fuel injection produces as much as 210 HP and 228 lb.-ft of torque. The rear wheels are driven by way of a 4-speed automatic transmission. The 420SEL came equipped as standard with power steering, four-wheel disc brakes, and fully independent suspension. Some records from previous ownership show the majority of service carried out by Ray Catena Mercedes of Edison, New Jersey. The seller has offered to accommodate in-person inspections for any interested bidders.

This sale will include a clean title.
