We are pleased to present this custom-restored 1989 Land Rover Defender 90 by Arkonik. Based out of Somerset, England as one of the foremost Land Rover restoration specialists in the world, Arkonik acquired this 1989 example and subsequently performed a full frame-off custom restoration to an impeccably high standard. Finished in Arles Blue, this restoration included the installation of a 6.2L big-block Corvette LS3 V8 mated to a 6-speed automatic transmission, along with Tarox 6-piston brakes, upgraded Bilstein shocks and Eibach springs, upgraded LED lighting, offroad protective equipment, and a bespoke Vintage Camelot leather interior with quilted stitching and brushed aluminum trim. Delivered to the owner in June of 2020, this beautifully executed Defender 90 is now being offered for auction out of New York with approximately 1k miles driven since the restoration.
After being delivered to Arkonik in Southwest England, this Defender 90 was completely disassembled before the original steel frame was laid out on a custom jig, carefully inspected, realigned, shot-blasted, fitted with a new cross member, etch-primed, and Raptor-coated for maximum longevity and durability. Brand new body panels were then fabricated to exacting specifications and painstakingly finished in the nonmetallic shade of Arles Blue (LRC424). The new bodywork is protected by a steel bumper with an optional Warn Zeon 12-S winch with synthetic rope, satin black steel diamond plated rocker panels, Fire & Ice satin black side steps, and a NAS rear step with a 2” hitch receiver. The steering system and front differential are protected by a custom Arkonik skid plate which has also been Raptor coated in satin black. An array of lighting has been installed including Trucklite Twin-Cat LED headlamps, twin bumper-mounted daytime running lights, and 2 Hella Rallye 4000 LED lights mounted to the A-bar. Other exterior details include a metal Puma hood, a black XS soft-top kit, clear-lens premium LED side markers, black mudflaps, satin black raised Defender badges on the hood and tailgate, Solihull Heritage badging, and a satin black KBX grill with matching satin black KBX wing top vents. This Arkonik D90 rides on 16” Khan Design 1948 light-alloy wheels mounted with BF Goodrich K02 T/A all-terrain tires.
The interior is upholstered in Vintage Camelot (1268) grey leather from Ruskin Design Limited of the U.K. The cabin features heated front Braum Elite Sport Seats and four military-style rear jump seats. Diamond-stitched leather extends from the seats to the door panels and center console. The leather-wrapped 15” steering wheel features Arkonik badging and frames a customizable Dakota Digital instrument cluster. Brushed aluminum fittings can also be seen throughout the cabin. A Pioneer Apple CarPlay-enabled head unit is equipped along with a 6-speaker premium sound system and subwoofer. The restoration included all new rubber seals, upgraded air conditioning, and tailored soundproofing.
This Defender 90 was originally equipped with a 3.5L Land Rover V8, which has been swapped out for a 6.2L LS3 engine found in the sixth-generation Chevrolet Corvette. A custom hand-built T304 stainless steel exhaust system designed by Arkonik ensures maximum airflow from the new power plant. As much as 430 HP and 348 lb.-ft of torque are sent to all four wheels through a GM 6L80-E 6-speed automatic transmission and a dual-range transfer case. The engine and transmission were rebuilt by Arkonik prior to installation, along with the steering, braking, and fuel systems. 6-piston billet alloy Tarox brake calipers have been fitted at each corner and paired with 330mm vented rotors and stainless-steel brake lines. The suspension has been slightly lowered and fitted with Eibach progressive springs, Bilstein B6 adjustable shocks, and custom-tuned Eibach anti-roll bars. Each restored Defender is thoroughly inspected and test-driven by Arkonik prior to delivery.
This sale will include a vintage Land Rover owner's manual, service book, bottle jack, an engine care guide from Arkonik, the restoration build sheet, and a clean title. While most customers wait over a year for an Arkonik build of their own, this beautifully restored 1989 example can be yours much sooner.

Such a cool truck. The AC is there to crush your knees. Love it.
Does the Defender have airbags and if so, location?
Beautiful vehicle in and out! All the best with the auction
A vette motor in a Defender - very cool and creative. Never would have thought of that.
@Milo711 No, I've never taken the top completely off, just rolled up the sides and back.
