Modified by SUHE Motorsport in Germany, this European-market 1989 Ford Sierra five-door hatchback features a turbocharged Cosworth 2.0-liter DOHC inline-four paired to a Borg Warner 5-speed manual transmission sourced from a Sierra RS Cosworth. The car is finished in Burgundy Rood over a grey interior and equips 15” Zender turbine-style wheels, H&R lowering springs, a one-piece header connected to a 3” exhaust system, an intercooler, a sunroof, and a JVC stereo with Bluetooth connectivity. Imported to the U.S. upon the selling dealer’s acquisition in 2025, this example is available for auction out of Florida accompanied by a host of documentation.

Acclaimed for its aerodynamic styling, the Ford Sierra was designed by Ford of Europe design chief Uwe Bahnsen, automotive executive Robert Lutz, and future Renault design director Patrick Le Quément. It was offered in various body styles to consolidate Ford of Europe’s mid-size lineup and received a revised front-end design in 1987. This example is finished in Burgundy Rood (FY) and features a five-door hatchback configuration. Equipment includes a sunroof, a rear window wiper, a Sierra RS Cosworth badge, lowered suspension, and 15” Zender turbine-style wheels wrapped in Vredestein tires. Detailed images are provided in the gallery.

Inside, the driver is greeted with grey cloth upholstery, patterned inserts, and a contrasting black dashboard and steering wheel. Amenities include a heater, manual roll-up windows, a chrome shift knob, and a JVC stereo with Bluetooth connectivity. The seller notes the water temperature readout is inaccurate, and an Equus substitute was installed on the central dashboard.

Developed by Cosworth for Ford, the 2.0-liter YB inline-four features a T88 Pinto engine block, aluminum cylinder head, dual belt-driven camshafts, and a Garrett turbocharger. Installed by SUHE Motorsport of Görwihl, Germany, the engine is equipped with a one-piece header, custom turbocharger heat shield, twin radiator fans, and a large front-mounted intercooler. The Bosch Blue Top fuel injectors were cleaned and flow-tested, a Bosch 044 fuel pump was installed, engine mounts were replaced, and the ECU was remapped. Following import to the U.S., the selling dealer performed an oil change and replaced the spark plugs, while a 3” exhaust system was also fitted. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a Borg Warner 5-speed manual transmission installed during the engine conversion. Additional recent maintenance included all-new polyurethane suspension bushings, rebuilt brakes with new lines, a fresh oil change, new spark plugs, new serpentine belts, and a timing service completed within the last 1,000 kilometers (621 miles).

This sale will include a clean title, owner’s manuals, a toolkit, and a spare tire.

The seller would like you to know: “What you are looking at is one of the baddest sleepers ever imported to the USA. This 1989 Ford Sierra features a full Cosworth RS drivetrain swap. The chassis is from a Sierra 280, while the drivetrain comes from a Sierra Cosworth RS. It is rear-wheel drive and powered by the legendary YB engine found in the Sierra, Escort, and Sapphire Cosworth RS, paired with a 5-speed manual BorgWarner transmission. Everything works flawlessly, just as it did when new. The body shows only 13,000 original kilometers. Old-school roll-down windows, zero rust—it’s literally perfect. This is a super cool car with performance to match. Built in Germany by a Cosworth RS specialty shop and subsequently imported into the U.S., it comes with a clean and clear Florida title as well as all importation documents included.”
