Developed as a homologation model for the Deutsche Tourenwagen Meisterschaft (DTM) racing series, BMW’s original M3 was based on the E30 chassis and powered by a high-revving S14 engine. This 1989 example comes finished in Vermillion Red (Zinnoberrot) and is said to have been cared for by the previous owner for over 22 years, during which time approximately 30k miles were added. The car features Evo front and rear spoilers as well as Ground Control coilovers and an aftermarket performance exhaust. It was acquired by the seller in 2020 and has since been treated to new fluids and filters, a new alternator, tie rods, brakes, and a wheel alignment as well as a paint correction and ceramic coating. This sought-after classic BMW is now being offered for auction by its seller out of South Carolina while showing just over 124k miles on the odometer.

The E30 M3 is characterized by its boxed fenders, model-specific bumpers, rocker panels, and fixed rear wing. Compared to a standard E30, all body parts are unique to the M3 apart from the hood and roof panels. This example comes finished in Vermillion Red and features an Evo II front lip spoiler and a Sport Evolution (Evo 3) rear wing which were added under prior ownership. The current owner installed European-spec front grilles. The ride height has been lowered and the car is equipped with aftermarket Volk Racing wheels dressed in new Toyo R1R tires. The seller notes the rear bumper was previously refinished and a small sport of rust is present on the windshield cowl. The seller adds that all body panels remain original, and the car recently underwent a full paint correction and ceramic coating. Detailed images are provided in the gallery along with a clean CARFAX report.

This E30 is appointed with a Natur (tan) leather interior and features a new OEM shift knob and boot, an M Tech II steering wheel, black floor mats, and manually adjustable front sports seats. The sound system has been upgraded with aftermarket speakers and an aftermarket radio. The seller notes some cracking is present on the seat surfaces and that all gauges and accessories remain fully functional including the air conditioning system.

The 2.3-liter inline 4-cylinder DOHC S14 engine was originally rated at 192 HP and 170 lb.-ft of torque, sending power to the rear wheels through a Getrag 5-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential. The car has been modified with Ground Control coilovers and an aftermarket exhaust system. It is said to have undergone a top-end engine rebuild within the last 15k miles and benefits from more recent service under the current ownership including new brake pads, rotors, sensors, a brake fluid flush, new tie rods, a new alternator, fresh coolant, a wheel alignment, and an oil change.

This sale will include original owner’s manuals, a toolkit, a spare tire, and a clean title.

The seller would like you to know: “Thank you for viewing. As a multi-E30 M3 owner, I can say that all around this is the nicest one I’ve ever owned. It drives beautifully, runs to redline with ease, and begs to be driven more and more. I'm certain that for whatever purpose this car shall bring to you in the future, it will exceed all expectations.”
