This 1988 Land Rover Defender 90 was imported to the United States from Dubai in 2021 after a major “Beach Runner” style restoration including a repaint in Arles Blue, a 3.9L V8 paired with an automatic transmission, an overhaul of the suspension, a wood-trimmed cargo area, new wheels with Cooper Discoverer tires, a new exhaust system, a new bikini top, and more. This custom 1988 Defender 90 is now being offered at auction by its seller out of Florida.

The exterior was repainted in Arles Blue (LRC424) and includes a steel front bumper, a NAS-style steel rear bumper, black side steps, a front skidplate, upgraded LED headlights, a black bikini top, and mudflaps. Cooper Discover STT Pro tires measuring just under 33” are mounted to gloss black steel wheels, and a full-size spare is located in the cargo area.

The interior is upholstered with black leather including two front seats and two new inward-facing rear jump seats. Amenities include a Pioneer stereo head unit with Bluetooth, upgraded Kicker speakers, an analog clock, an onboard air compressor, a fire extinguisher, dual cupholders, and all-season rubber Land Rover-branded floormats.

Power comes from a replacement 3.9L V8 sourced from a Land Rover Discovery, which was said to have traveled 42k kilometers (under 26,100 miles) before being installed. Up to 189 HP and 230 lb.-ft of torque are sent to all four wheels through a 4-speed automatic transmission, dual-range transfer case, and center locking differential. During the restoration, the engine and transfer case were serviced along with the replacement of the starter, exhaust system, and a complete overhaul of the suspension and wheel hubs.

This sale will include a clean title, two keys, and a full-sized spare.

I believe that's Arles Blue, not Aries Blue.

  • classiclover (seller) 2 years, 5 monthsago

@Jp4272 Hi, it does have heat, but no defroster on windshield. I did not notice rubbing on the wheel when suspension is compressed.

  • classiclover (seller) 2 years, 5 monthsago

@J_Sciortino9 No issues I’m aware of. And no restoration documents. As I changed only suspensions, brake pads, oil change and power steering service. Other than this it was paint work, wood restoration that I did and replaced wheels and tires. Everything else was done by the previous owner.

  • Jp4272 (registered bidder) 2 years, 5 monthsago

Can we get better close up pictures of the entire dash? Does the it have heat & front windshield defroster ?

  • Jp4272 (registered bidder) 2 years, 5 monthsago

Is there any rubbing with this wheel & tire setup, while turning or when suspension is compressed?

  • J_Sciortino9 (registered bidder) 2 years, 5 monthsago

Any shifting/drive train issues or concerns or any known issues to address in the near future? Do you have restoration documentation?
    Thanks.

@outlaw-356 there is only the compressor, but not connected so basically no AC.

  • classiclover (seller) 2 years, 5 monthsago

@useppaisland hi, you could. But the rear door would need to be replaced as well. Its possible though.

  • outlaw-356 (registered bidder) 2 years, 5 monthsago

    Does the A/C System work?
    Thanks

    @classiclover Great. Thanks.

  • classiclover (seller) 2 years, 5 monthsago

@louispereznyc no, it comes only with Bikini top. Depending on buyer, you can add a soft top to it if needed, its easy to install. However the back is designed to handle water.

  • louispereznyc (registered bidder) 2 years, 5 monthsago
