Up for auction is this 1988 Porsche 944 Turbo finished in Guards Red over a Black and Champagne Special Leather interior.  Equipped with a turbocharged inline four-cylinder engine paired with a 5-speed manual transaxle, this 1988 example also came factory optioned with leather seats, a sunroof, side protection moldings, and 16” forged wheels.  It was originally registered in Colorado where it remained up until being relocated to Pennsylvania in 2017 and eventually acquired by the third and current owner within the last 6 months.  Since the owner’s purchase, this 944 has undergone an extensive amount of service through an authorized Porsche dealer including the replacements of the timing belt and water pump, fluid and filter changes, and conversion of the A/C system.  Accompanied by the original owner’s manuals, tools, and air compressor, this 944 Turbo is now being offered for auction by its owner of Connecticut while showing just under 79k miles on the odometer.

This 944 is finished in traditional Guards Red and sports optional protective side moldings.  As a Turbo, this 944 also features a model-specific aerodynamic front fascia and a body-colored rear diffuser.  The paint is described to have been kept in very good condition with only a few small chips noted on the lower front bumper.  As shown on CARFAX, the seller reports a minor incident involving the right rear end in April of 2020.  The rear bumper has since been professionally refinished and there are no signs of persisting damage reported.  Additional images are provided in the photo gallery along with the CARFAX report.  This 944 retains its factory Fuchs 16” Flat Dish forged wheels which come dressed in Goodyear Eagle Sport tires showing date codes from 2013.

Inside, this Turbo features a Black and Champagne Special Leather interior with a sunroof. The front seats are reported to have been previously refinished and one small crack is noted on the dashboard.  The sunroof motors were recently repaired by an authorized Porsche dealer along with an R-134 A/C conversion, and the seller confirms all gauges, electronics, and accessories to be working properly. An upgraded Porsche Classic radio is depicted, although the original Blaupunkt radio will be reinstalled prior to sale.

This 951 is equipped with a turbocharged 2.5L inline 4-cylinder engine that sends up to 220 HP and 243 lb.-ft of torque to the rear wheels through a 5-speed manual transaxle.  The turbocharger is said to have been rebuilt under the previous ownership along with the replacement of all fuel lines.  A thorough inspection was carried out prior to the seller’s purchase and a considerable amount of service has since been completed by Porsche of Fairfield including a new timing belt and water pump, transmission fluid change, oil service, and brake fluid flush.  The results from a multi-point inspection are also provided for reference in the photo gallery.

This sale will include the original owner's manuals and vinyl pouch, service records, and a clean title.  A well-represented example of Porsche's most iconic 944, this Turbo is ready for a new owner to get behind the wheel.

@mdavidson The incident happened the day I picked it up. Wasn’t a big deal, got it repaired the next week.

  • mdavidson (registered bidder) 3 years, 8 monthsago

One clarification please: The description says that you acquired the car 6 months ago and that the minor incident happened in April 2020. This makes me think that the incident happened under the previous owner's care, but you also mention that you took the photo of the rear post-incident.

Did the incident actually happen in April 2021?

This is a minor detail, but wanted to get the facts straight. Thanks for clarifying.
