Now available for auction at no-reserve is this 1988 Porsche 944 Turbo. Acquired by its previous owner as a project car, this 944 underwent a major restoration at Broadfoot racing between 2018-2019 at cost of over $30k.  Some performance upgrades were also installed including Koni shocks and a 3” catback exhaust system.  With just over 3k miles driven since the completion of the restoration, this well-presented 944 Turbo is now being offered by its seller out of Pennsylvania while showing approximately 197k miles on the odometer.

The Black paint on this Turbo was completely refinished during the restoration.  Some slight orange peel has been indicated, although the paint is said to be in otherwise good condition (detailed images are provided in the photo gallery).  The 944 Turbo can be distinguished from standard versions by its aerodynamic front fascia and painted rear valence.  A new windshield was installed, and the factory phone dial wheels were refinished in dressed in new BFGoodrich G-Force tires.  Factory optioned equipment on this example includes a detachable roof panel and side protection moldings.

Inside, the cabin has been refreshed with new Turbo seats as well as new upholstery for the dashboard and rear seats.  The carpeting was replaced and a double-din Android head unit was also installed.  The interior is reported to be in very good condition however, the dashboard has begun to peel in some areas and the steering wheel shows signs of wear.  The 12v power socket is nonfunctional and the radio antenna is missing, although the seller has confirmed all other gauges and accessories to be working properly.

This 944 is equipped with a turbocharged 2.5 L inline 4-cylinder engine that sends 220 HP stock to the rear wheels through a 5-speed manual transaxle.  The engine was completely rebuilt by Broadfoot racing during the restoration along with the installation of a new clutch, master cylinder, slave and shift linkage.  Performance modifications include Koni Yellow shock absorbers, a 3” catback exhaust system and a short shift kit.  All invoices from the restoration are available and this Turbo is said to be in fantastic driving condition with just over 3k miles on the rebuilt engine.

The sale of this 944 will include a set of 2 keys, an air pump, tools, spare tire, hatch liner, service records and a clean title.  For any enthusiast in the market for a vintage transaxle Porsche, this recently restored 944 Turbo is certainly worth consideration.

    @PMason Thanks.... at this current price the engine alone makes it a steal....

  • PMason (registered bidder) 4 yearsago

    I own a DE version of this 944 Turbo so I would not need another one. That said, with a few mods this looks like an excellent track car opportunity. These are highly underrated Porsches, somewhat costly to maintain but great driving fun and performance. A steal at this current price.

    @twallc4 the car is not crazy loud. It passed inspection in PA no problem. There is a video with sound of exhaust. The antenna was integrated in glass from factory. But when they replaced the glass they put a glass without it.

    How loud is the car, will it pass inspection.

    @Reflexr I'm in Southampton PA

  • Tor0 (seller) 4 yearsago

    @Reflexr hello, the suspension has been addressed. It now has the Koni yellow sport. It's adjustable through the front so you can choose from a softer more comfortable ride to stiffer more sportier ride. The brakes and rotors were also replaced. Under the comment sections there are tons of pictures towards the bottom you will see the receipt with everything done.

    Hello, I don’t know if I missed it, but where is the car located? I assume somewhere in the southeast. I’m wondering if the suspension has been addressed. Was the braking system gone through? The car looks great for an original high mileage car.
