Introduced in 1987, the 928 S4 was a significant evolution of Porsche’s iconic grand tourer featuring revised aerodynamic bodywork and a new 5.0-liter V8 engine with four-valves-per-cylinder. This 1988 example comes finished in Silver Metallic over a matching Silver Grey leather interior and was acquired from the second owner’s Porsche collection in 2010. Accompanied by extensive documentation showing routine service by a reputable marque specialist, this 928 S4 is now being offered for auction by its owner out of New York showing approximately 68k miles on the odometer.
Among the oldest and most traditional Porsche colors of all, this 928 comes finished in Silver Metallic (L980) with matching protective side moldings. Compared to earlier 928s, the S4 version featured a more rounded aerodynamic nose, side skirts, and a black polyurethane rear wing. This example rides on factory 16” polished wheels dressed in Continental ExtremeContact tires. The seller describes the paint to be in excellent overall condition and states the passenger door and right rear quarter panel were previously refinished to address a cosmetic incident. Detailed images are provided in the gallery along with a clean CARFAX report.
The cabin is trimmed in Silver Grey (HQ) leather with matching carpets and a black dashboard. Accessories include power windows and door locks, 8-way electric front seats, driver position memory, automatic climate control, a digital clock, electric sunroof, rear window wiper, cruise control, and extended rear-seat air conditioning. An aftermarket Alpine radio has been installed and the footwells are lined with black velour mats featuring embroidered 928 S4 logos. Some minor wear is noted on the driver’s seat bolster and the seller reports all gauges and accessories to be working properly, however, the ignition lock is sticky and requires a slight turn back after startup to power on accessories.
The 928 S4 features a 5.0-liter V8 with dual overhead camshafts and four valves per cylinder. A 4-speed automatic transmission sends up to 320 HP and 317 lb.-ft of torque to the rear wheels. Since the current owner’s purchase in 2010, all routine and major services are said to have been completed by a specialist at Import Autohaus in New York with all corresponding records available.
This sale will include the original owner’s manuals, maintenance records, and a clean title.

From the April 2017 work order several items were "declined" such as correcting the "engine misfire"? Have those items that you declined been addressed and corrected? Also, can you advise exactly how many owners has the car had? Thanks...

Lost my 2015 Cayenne S with only 79,000 miles. My heart is broken. I've always wanted a 928 S4. This one looks like a dream come true. Good luck getting the best price. Hope that is something I can afford. Gorgeous car, and a real work of art. Thanks for offering it!

@Davidpoer perhaps on Sunday I can. I assure you there are no lights on the dash and definitely not a check light as there weren’t any In 1988. I’ll be looking foward to your bid.
Can you drive the car and show the dash behind the wheel. I thought I saw a check engine light or something. a cold start would be great too.

When I first saw one of these incredible machines in the early eighties I thought there is a Porsche out there that is worthy of wearing a Porsche sticker. Yes this is a well balanced car, has beautiful lines that was introduced to replace the 911. Alas it didn't. It was ahead of its time and substantially more expensive than its predecessor.
Well I own one now, and believe it or not I get people looking and giving me the thumbs up and it still has beautiful lines that the 911 has now adopted. Just look at the way the 911 has adopted the rear rounded back as opposed to the previous Volkswagen rear engine look.
This car on the block now should be purchased, loved and driven with a great deal of pride, Go for it!

Hello everyone and thank you for taking the time to check out my car. This has been an amazing car for the past decade for me and not thrilled about letting it go but need the room for others. Its funny how this once large GT car now is smaller then most 911's. It can easily be driven as a daily its that comfortable and can also be quite the muscle car for more spirited driving. Theses were special cars that are destined to go up in value and will remain timeless icons. SO good luck to the next Uboat commander.
