Equipped with a desirable 5-Speed G50 manual gearbox, this 1988 Porsche 911 Carrera Cabriolet is finished in Grand Prix White with optional painted Fuchs wheels and a Linen interior. It was acquired by the current owner in 2003 at 91k miles and has been well maintained including an overhaul of the A/C system, clutch replacement, a new convertible top, and routine oil changes. Now showing approximately 130k miles on the odometer, this 911 is being offered for auction by its longtime owner out of Wisconsin.

The Carrera is finished in Grand Prix White and received a new blue cabriolet top in 2011. The original 16” Fuchs wheels come factory-finished with optional body-colored centers and were dressed in a set of new Continental Extreme Contact tires in April 2022. The front bumper is said to have been refinished about 8 years ago along with the replacement of both headlights, and the seller notes a couple of minor paint chips on the hood and mirrors. Detailed images are provided in the gallery along with a CARFAX report showing minor damage in 2013.

The Linen interior includes matching carpets, power-operated seats, and dark blue floormats with contrasting Porsche lettering. An additional set of white Lloyds mats is included. Factory equipment includes air conditioning, automatic heating control, cruise control, power windows, and a central locking system. An aftermarket Eclipse stereo has been installed and some wear is noted on the driver’s seat bolster. All gauges and accessories are said to remain fully functional.

Up to 217 HP is sent to the rear wheels from an air-cooled 3.2-liter flat-six engine connected to a 5-speed manual transmission. The seller states the clutch was replaced in 2005, a new battery was installed in 2009, and the A/C system has been completely overhauled and updated during their ownership. Routine oil changes have been completed every 3k miles and the car was evaluated for service needs in 2022 and found to only need replacement hood struts.

This sale will include a collection of documentation, the original owner’s manuals, a spare tire, a toolkit, an air pump, a car cover, and a clean title.

@PCARMARKET I just added some under car photos for those questioning what the underside looks like. I don’t have access to a lift, and the weather here has been challenging for the last week, with snow, salt, and ice. Car has never been exposed to snow or salt, and it is perfect underneath. These were taken a short time ago in my garage. The car has always been garaged. Please ask any questions you may have about it

@Jim911Porsche thanks for the info. I've had both, but prefer the manual top - I thought it might have the button for it, but couldn't tell in the pics.

  • Jim911Porsche (seller) 1 year, 9 monthsago

@naccer The top is manual. From my understanding, from this vintage a manual top was preferable, because the power top's complexity frequently would get out of sync and get stuck in partial up position.

Hi, what a pretty cab...is this one an automatic top or manual?

@Aberas2529 It refers to a book by a famous auto author, Bert (BS) Levy. I have had this decal on all of my sports cars since I read the book years ago. It relates to sports car racing from the 50s and 60s, in particular Road America. I hate stickers on cars, with the exception of this one. He is at all the events at RA, and if you visit there you will see this decal on many of the visitors vehicles. Easily removable.

Lovely Cab. Any significance behind the script on the rear decklid? Not a deterrent for me, but I am curious about the backstory. Thanks again.

This car performs as if new, and one would be hard pressed to realize that it is 35 years old.
I have no doubt you could drive it across country without care.

Lovely car, if I didn't already own a G body cab with 107k miles on it I'd seriously consider yours, especially given the amount of maintenance that has been put in, because 200k+ miles is not out of the question for these beasts if well cared for. GLWA!
