This 1988 Porsche 911 Carrera Cabriolet was originally sold in New York, factory-finished in Grand Prix White over Dark Burgundy leather upholstery. It features an optional limited-slip differential and short shifter for its 5-speed G50 manual transaxle, along with optional Sports Shocks Absorbers, front and rear spoilers, electric Sport Seats, 16” Fuchs forged alloy wheels, headlamp washers, automatic heat control, cruise control, a sound system, and an alarm system. Having resided in Washington since 1991, the car was purchased by the current owner in September 2022 and immediately treated to a major service with new intake manifold gaskets, fuel lines, ignition components, filters, front brake hoses, and more. This 911 Carrera Cabriolet is now being offered for auction out of Washington with approximately 167k miles showing on the odometer.

The exterior is finished in Grand Prix White, complemented by a Dark Burgundy convertible roof and matching boot cover. Equipment includes optional front and rear spoilers, an intensified windscreen washer system, headlamp washers, integrated fog lights, power mirrors, black stone guard decals, and 16” Fuchs forged alloy wheels with body-colored centers. New Riken Raptor tires were mounted in 2022 within the last 5k miles. The seller notes the hood was previously refinished, and the exterior is in good driver-quality condition, given the car’s age and mileage. Detailed images are provided in the gallery along with a clean CARFAX report.

The cabin is appointed with Dark Burgundy leather upholstery and features optional electrically adjustable Sport Seats, an elevated steering wheel hub, a short-shift lever, and an updated Porsche Classic (PCCM) head unit. The driver is also provided with power windows and door locks, air conditioning, automatic heat control, and an alarm system. The seller notes that the A/C receiver drier and blower motor were recently replaced, and a new turn signal switch was installed in 2022. All gauges and accessories are said to be fully functional.

Rated at 217 HP and 195 lb-ft of torque, the air-cooled 3.2-liter flat-six engine is mated to a 5-speed G50 manual transaxle and an optional limited-slip differential. Equipment includes four-wheel ventilated disc brakes, rack-and-pinion steering, and optional Sports Shock Absorbers. A service completed in 2022 by Dobson Stuttgart included new intake manifold gaskets, fuel lines and hoses, spark plugs, ignition wires, a distributor cap, fuel filter, air filter, front brake hoses, and wheel studs. New brake pads and rotors were also recently installed at each corner. The seller indicates the exhaust is slightly smoky upon startup, especially after the car has been sitting for extended periods, although it drives and shifts very well.

This sale will include a spare tire, a tire inflator, a car cover, and a clean title.

The seller would like you to know: “We have loved having this car around our showroom, and it is always an attention grabber when out driving around. This car would be a great entry for someone into the world of air-cooled 911 ownership if you want a car, you can add miles to it without worrying that you'll harm the value of the car. Best of luck, and we can't wait to see who ends up with this 1980s icon!”

This was odd. The final bid came in after the clock stopped and there were no seconds added back?

  • DobsonMotorsport (registered bidder) 1 week, 1 dayago

@Michael911 You would only pay sales tax if you reside in the State of Washington, otherwise, you would not.

@tff - The top is more brown than burgundy, in our opinion, It is in good shape and honestly, we haven't driven the car in the rain (even here in Seattle!), so I can't tell you if it leaks or not, but it certainly fits well and has the tonneau cover. A/C blows cold, video coming shortly. Little, if any rust, everything works. Have limited service records. Minor oil leaks, but nothing serious.

Just called you - My questions are the same as @tff below!

  • DobsonMotorsport (registered bidder) 1 week, 1 dayago

@estreibig Let us know if you have any specific questions.

  • DobsonMotorsport (registered bidder) 1 week, 1 dayago

@Avant911 We dont have a driving video, but a cold start video should be up shortly. We only have service reconds from the work we did on the car and we saw, little, if any rust on the car.

  • DobsonMotorsport (registered bidder) 1 week, 1 dayago

@MLCNPB Yes, it does blow cold, There will be a video up shortly

Tons of unknowns here, and we could really use some communication from the seller. Very reasonable questions from @tff. I'm willing to take a risk!

@seller... a few questions on this intriguing car...
-Is the top brown or burgundy? What is the age of the top? Any water leaks with the top up?
-AC has been serviced, but can you confirm that it works please?
-Slides 75 & 82... are there any indications of rust there? Any rust in the wheel wells or underbody? Would have been nice to have undercarriage photos.
    -Does everything 'work'?
-Do you have service receipts for the state work that has been completed?
    -Any oil leaks?
-Smoke on start-up... start-up video showing this would be beneficial. Does this car do this on every start (even a warm start)?

  • r32fan (registered bidder) 1 week, 2 daysago

Do you have any service history? Any rust on the car? Can you provide any under body photos? Can we get a cold start video? Thank you.

  • MLCNPB (registered bidder) 1 week, 4 daysago

Nice looking Porsche! Can you confirm that the AC is blowing cold now? Also, other than the smoke on start up, any concern about driving it to So Cal based on the current condition?

    Hey Everyone,

Thanks for viewing our auction! We are excited to represent this G50-equipped 911 Cabriolet on the site.
Wherever we have taken this car, it always gets lots of looks thanks to its killer White with White Fuchs combination. Beyond the color combination, the original spec is great with Limited-Slip Diff and sport seats which has been further improved with a PCCM head unit.

Given the higher miles, we performed a compression test on the car with results in the gallery and the results were very solid with no more than 6 psi variance across the cylinders. Given these results and how well this car drives, it feels like it has had at least a top end done, but unfortunately we don't have the paperwork stating as much.

If anybody has questions or would like to set up a viewing, we are happy to set that up any time at our shop in Seattle. Please don't hesitate to reach out and best of luck to you all!
