Finished in Guards Red over a Black interior, this 1988 Porsche 911 Carrera Cabriolet features a desirable 5-speed G50 manual transaxle paired with its air-cooled flat-six engine. It had been maintained at a local German specialty shop in Atlanta from which it was purchased by the seller about three years ago. The car was then sold to the seller’s friend who carried out valve adjustments as well as the installation of new valve cover gaskets, a new windshield, convertible top, radio, speakers, and tires. This 911 was bought back by the seller earlier in 2023 and received an R134a A/C conversion, a new thermostat, and an oil change. This Carrera Cabriolet is now being offered for auction out of Georgia with approximately 185k miles showing on the odometer.
This 911 is finished in traditional Guards Red with a new black convertible top installed by the prior owner. Equipment includes a front valence with integrated fog lights and a chin spoiler, a “PORSCHE” logo tail panel reflector, a third brake light, and 16” Fuchs alloy wheels with black-painted centers and silver outer lips. A set of new tires was installed by the previous owner along with a new windshield. The seller believes some paintwork was performed on the front end under previous ownership and some rock chips are present as well as three cracks on the passenger-side rear bumper. The CARFAX report shows an accident in 2005 with minor rear-end damage as well as an incident in 2018 with minor damage to the front-end. Detailed images are provided in the gallery.
The Black interior features electrically height-adjustable front seats, a four-spoke leather-wrapped steering wheel, climate control, power windows, a quartz clock, a locking glovebox, and a Pioneer Bluetooth head unit with new aftermarket speakers. The seller notes a few trim pieces are missing including the A/C and heat slide knobs, passenger door lock cap, and one light cover under the dashboard. Some hazing is also noted on the fuel level gauge. All accessories and instrumentation are said to be fully functional.
An air-cooled 3.2-liter flat-six engine delivers up to 217 HP to the rear wheels by way of a 5-speed G50 manual transaxle. A valve adjustment with new valve cover gaskets was performed by the prior owner and the seller more recently completed an oil change, an R134a A/C conversion, and the installation of a new oil thermostat within the last 1k miles.
This sale will include owner’s manuals, a spare tire, an air pump, a battery charger, and a clean title.
The seller would like you to know: “Thank you for visiting my auction. This car drives and looks great, I wouldn't hesitate to drive it to California and back. It is a high-mileage car, but it has been well taken care of and stored in a climate-controlled garage.”

Congrats, couldn't justify more red 3.2 cabs. Get a cigarette lighter voltage gage and drive it home.
Cheers

@kau171448 thanks for looking. it does have a drip or 2 after sitting for week, I couldn’t really tell exactly where it’s coming from. It looks more like residual over time.
Is there an active oil leak from the left side of the engine - looks wet from the pictures? Is the leak from the valve cover or from the return oil tubes? Too bad I just saw this today. It is in GA...I could have looked at it locally...
These are the best 911's in my opinion. So fun to drive. Have newer generations but always want to take this one out. These engines are bulletproof so mileage should not be a concern. Looks to be a nice example.

@BR356 Thanks for the comment, If there’s any specific data or information you would like, I’d be glad to send it over.
Too bad more supportive data was not provided and more time to get it. This is a desirable driver with the correct documents. Good luck to both buyer and seller.
@WH911 thanks for the comment. It’s just sun reflection, not over spray. the rear seats do have some cracks in the leather on top, but still in pretty good shape.
Is there paint over spray on the rear seats or are those reflections?

@Pcars @Pcars, Thank you for your comment and looking at the car. I don’t have any supporting documents to show any rebuild of any kind on the engine or fuel system. I have scheduled a slot to take detailed undercarriage pictures, I believe the car has had some paint work done, again I have no details on what was painted, I will have paint meter readings Sunday, and will post those as soon as possible
Fuel lines replaced? Heads been rebuilt? Leak down numbers? Rubber center clutch still? Original paint?
