The first SL equipped with a V8 engine, the R107 had an impressive 18-year production run. This Range-topping 560SL version comes finished in Arctic White over Royal Blue leather upholstery and equips a 4-speed automatic transmission, cruise control, power accessories, and more. Showing under 80k miles on the odometer, this 1988 example is now being offered for auction by its seller out of Canada.
The body comes finished in Arctic White (147U) with a recently replaced blue canvas convertible top. A body-color hard top with a stand will accompany the sale. Other equipment includes North American specification quad headlamps, front fog lights, chrome bumpers and trim, and a removable painted hardtop. This SL rides on factory 15” Gullideckel alloy wheels, which the seller recommends refinishing. Detailed images are provided in the gallery along with a clean CARFAX report.
The cabin is trimmed in Royal Blue leather (272A) with matching carpets, a black upper dashboard, and a wood-trimmed center console. Appointments include a black four-spoke steering wheel, power windows, air conditioning, floor mats, an analog clock, a locking glovebox, an outside temperature indicator, and a folding front armrest. The seller notes a slight imperfection on the wood grain ahead of the shifter.
Power comes from a 5.6L M117 V8 factory rated at 227 HP and 279 lb.-ft of torque. The rear wheels are driven by way of a four-speed automatic transmission. The 560SL was factory-equipped with power steering, a fully independent suspension, and power-assisted four-wheel disc brakes as standard equipment. The vehicle is said to have received extensive maintenance, including new brakes in 2022. In 2023, a new power steering box, front-end parts, timing chain, tensioner, cover, and water pump were installed. Additionally, a new center link was added in 2024, along with a tune-up. All fluids and filters are also said to have been replaced.
This sale will include a clean title, a hard top, a hard top stand, a spare tire, and an air pump.
