Up for auction is this 1988 BMW E30 M3 finished in Diamond Black over a Cardinal Red leather interior. Representing the first M-tuned version of the BMW 3-series, the E30 M3 was originally intended as a homologation car to satisfy Deutsche Tourenwagen Meisterschaft (DTM) production requirements.  Equipped with a 2.3 L inline 4-cylinder DOHC S14 engine mated to a 5-speed manual transmission with a limited-slip differential, this E30 underwent a major recent service in preparation for sale which included new spark plugs, a valve cover gasket, and a compression test.  Reported to be in excellent running order with just over 112k miles showing on the odometer, this outstanding driver-grade M3 is now being offered by its seller in Florida accompanied by service records, original wheels, and a clean title.

This M3 is reported to have undergone a professional glass-out respray in its factory color of Diamond Black under previous ownership in 2008.  Most of the rubber seals were replaced during this time and the seller indicates the paint to remain in very good condition (detailed images are provided in the photo gallery).  The M3 can be distinguished from the standard E30 by its revised front splitter, rear valence, rocker panels, flared fenders, and rear decklid with an integrated spoiler.  A carbon fiber front lip has been installed along with DTM-style exhaust tips and BBS E39 wheels with new Nitto tires.  The original E30 wheels have been professionally refinished are included in the sale as well.

The black and Cardinal Red interior is shown to be in excellent condition with all new leather upholstery recently installed.  A short-shifter has been equipped and this E30 retains its original radio.  The air conditioning system was completely overhauled recently and the seller confirms all gauges and accessories to be working properly.

The 2.3 L inline 4-cylinder DOHC S14 engine is rated at 192 HP and 170 lb.-ft of torque stock.  The rear wheels are driven through a Getrag 5-speed manual transmission with a limited-slip differential.  A strut tower brace has been installed along with Bilstein shocks and an aftermarket DTM-style muffler.  A major service was recently carried out in preparation for sale which included new fluids and filters, spark plugs, a compression test, and refurbished a valve cover with a new gasket.  Records are included showing proper routine maintenance and this E30 is said to be in excellent running order. Please see the photo gallery for compression test results.

This sale will include a set of 2 keys, owner’s manuals, tools, a spare tire, the original wheels, service records, and a clean title.  One of the most iconic and significant sports cars of the 1980s, this E30 M3 is sure to delight most any automotive enthusiast.

I had a few questions about the color. It's much more of a dark Grey metallic than black.
If you look at some of the pictures closely you will see.
In person most people would say the car is grey or charcoal, not black.
    It's an amazing color combination.

@Brucerudin It’s not loose. I think you’re referring to my bad videography, lol. I was sitting in the back trying to keep my phone steady, while my friend was driving.

On the driving video it looks like the right seat back it rattling and really loose. The seat base doesn't move but the back looks quite bad.

@chadsmartm3 Yes they are all there and matching. Fenders, hood, trunk lid, doors, even the bumpers match. Not sure why we omitted some of the pics. Thanks for the question.
