We are pleased to offer this 1988 BMW E30 M3 finished in Salmon Silver Metallic over Grey leather. Reported to have been meticulously looked after from new with service records dating back to 1999, this highly collectible M3 has undergone significant maintenance including the refurbishment of the leather interior, a full engine rebuild, and a recent glass-out professional respray in its factory specified color. One of the most iconic sports cars of the 1980’s, this E30 is now being offered by its seller in Wisconsin while showing approximately 208k miles on the odometer, of which 58k are said to have been driven since the engine rebuild.
In July of 2020, this M3 underwent a professional glass-out respray in its factory specified color of Lachssilber Metallic (Salmon Silver Metallic). Carfax shows damage, however, the seller indicates this to have been falsely reported during the respray. The exterior finish is said to remain like-new as can be seen in the provided images. Distinctive features include prominent fender flares, large front and rear valences, and side skirts. Factory 15” basketweave wheels are retained with healthy Michelin tires currently installed.
The Black and Grey leather interior was completely refurbished in 2014 by Creative Options LLC in Rex, Georgia. The seats have been reupholstered and a vintage aftermarket radio is installed. The cabin is said to be in very good condition with all gauges and accessories remaining fully functional including the air conditioning, power windows, and sunroof.
Power comes from a 2.3 L DOHC S14 inline 4-cylinder engine. Approximately 192 HP is sent to the rear wheels by way of a 5-speed manual transmission with limited-slip differential. The engine is said to have been completely rebuilt in 1999 by Bullet Performance Engineering in California with just over 58k miles driven since. A large 3-ring binder is included citing a thorough history of service and the seller indicates this M3 to be in fantastic driving condition.
This sale will include 1 master key, original books and tools, and a clean title. If you have always wanted a vintage BMW M3, this incredibly well maintained E30 is not to be overlooked.

@gvxavier I dont see the VIN tags on the front left/right fenders. Looks like they were removed or the fenders were replaced?
@gassian Coming tomorrow!
@wprater Hi just now I have gone through and found the vin in the door, tool box, on the cowl, on body panels, and hood. I am having trouble finding the one on the head. After some research I found something that said it was machined into the head so its possible that during the engine rebuild that was replaced. If you know otherwise where it will be, please let me know and I will confirm that for you. As for underbody photos, I will take them tomorrow and have pcar post them. The car is very clean and has been thoroughly taken care of. Photos of the car during restoration should hopefully be uploaded tomorrow as well.
Thanks and best of luck on the bidding
Few pictures of the underbody panels and vin tags would be really helpful
Are all the vin tags present on the body panel, doors, head, cowl, and hood?
Do you have any under body photos? Is there corrosion on the underbody suspension components?
Thanks!
@wprater 1. Yes. I have asked PCar if they can post records. I have a 3 ring binder full of the records going back to 1999.
2. The rebuild was done in March of 1999. It was a 3 page part list of things replaced/refurbished.
3. I have called Ball Body Shop today to get the photos. I will post them once I receive them
4. Yes, all of the electronics work.
5. No, any rust was taken care of during the body restoration.
6. I don't believe there are any suspension modifications.
7. Various bushings and bearings have been replaced throughout the years. Serpentine and fan belts were replaced under my ownership.
Thanks, look forward to your bids!
Hi. Do you have pictures of the documentation on the engine rebuild and other maintenance.?
When was the rebuild performed and which parts were replaced and/or refurbished?
Can you show us pictures of the paint prep work and bare metal spray?
Do all of the electronics work? Turn signals, sunroof, and are there any engine check lights or other notices?
Is there any rust posts on the cowl or sunroof?
I did not notice any mentions of suspension modifications, were there any? Have any of the wheel bearing, bushings, or the suspension components been refreshed?

@davidleebiz Thanks David for your question. I have looked through the records in my possession. Mileage seems to track accurately in the maintenance records. Apple BMW of York may have reported mileage inaccurately. The owner at that time used Apple on several occasions, but invoices do not have odometer readings.
The current car fax report also identifies "damage to front" in June of 2020. To be clear, I replaced the low beam assembly with a new authentic smiley lens.
Great car, clearly well kept with 208K miles on the odometer. Can you give some background to the 2015 CarFax report on the odometer reading error? It looks like 179k was recorded while it was 202k. Thanks GLWA.

Hi everyone!
As a ardent BMW enthusiast, I am excited to list my gorgeous E30 on this great website. I have owned this E30 for the last 18 months, and I have enjoyed this slice of automotive history immensely. This car is very well looked after, and I commissioned a full repaint of the vehicle in June of 2020. This E30 looks and drives beautifully, and the next owner will love driving this coupe, and enjoy the many thumbs-up signs. I will be checking in daily, and welcome any questions.
Happy bidding!
