Finished in Alpine White over a black interior, this 1987 Porsche 944 came factory optioned with a sunroof as well as optional leather-covered seats, dashboard, and door panels. The car has been with its second owner for the last 20 years during which time a complete engine rebuild was completed within the last 4k miles. Showing just over 161k miles on the odometer and treated to a host of recent services, this Porsche 944 is now being offered for auction by its seller out of New Jersey accompanied by a long-documented maintenance history.

The body is finished in Aline White (L90E) including optional protective side moldings. It has been customized with a 944 Turbo-style rear valence, removable black stone guard decals, red-painted brake calipers, and factory 16” Design 90 cast-aluminum wheels sourced from a 944 S2 model. The seller states the sunroof was previously refinished and the car had been preserved by clear paint protection film over the front end for most of its life, although the film has since been removed. One small chip is noted at the rear corner of the sunroof panel. The car rides on a set of new Continental ExtremeContact tires. Detailed images are provided in the gallery along with a clean CARFAX report.

The cabin features optional black leather upholstery covering the dashboard, seats, and door panels as well as a 363mm 4-spoke “H” steering wheel. Other factory equipment includes an electric sunroof, air-conditioning, a digital clock, power accessories, and cruise control. Custom Porsche-crested floormats have been added along with an aftermarket Pioneer radio, stainless steel “944” treadplates, and a fire extinguisher mounted on the rear center console. The cabin is described to be in excellent condition with only a few small cracks noted between the defroster vents on the upper dashboard. The A/C underwent service in May 2022 along with the installation of new instrument cluster bulbs, and the seller confirms gauges and accessories remain fully functional.

As much as 150 HP and 142 lb.-ft of torque are provided from a naturally aspirated 2.5-liter inline four-cylinder engine that drives the rear wheels by way of a 5-speed manual transaxle. The car is supported by extensive maintenance history dating back to 1995 including a complete engine rebuild in 2008 at 157k miles with a new clutch and rear main seal. Other notable maintenance items include a new power steering rack in 2011, new front wheel bearings in 2019, new engine mounts in April 2022, and major service in May 2022 with a new timing belt, crankshaft seal, pulleys, front brakes, and a new oil level sensor gasket. Corresponding invoices are provided in the gallery.

This sale will include the original owner’s manuals, a toolkit, a spare tire, a battery charger, service records, and a clean title.

@petza914 Thanks for the question. There is absolutely no rust on this car. I tried my best to photograph all angles and especially the underside photos to show how clean the car is overall. The underside photos #168-202 really give a good representation of how clean the car is. Also helps that since 2007, this car was never out in the winter as well as being kept in a climate-controlled warehouse.

Being a NE car, any body rust behind the rear wheels or along the sills or anywhere else you can see?

@TxHoon Hello and thanks for reaching out. The cold start video shows the oil pressure pegged because the car was cold. The only warning lights on in that video are parking brake light and the seat belt warning light. In the second driving video you will see a little orange light come on intermittently and that is the factory up shift light telling you what RPM you should shift at for the best economy. You will also, see that as the car is warms up, the pressure gauge is no longer pinned, still high because we are driving. Absolutely no issues with oil pressure or anything else with this car. Runs perfect, everything works as it should and the A/C is ice cold. I hope that helps with your question.

  • TxHoon (registered bidder) 2 years, 2 monthsago

Is there a reason why the oil pressure is pegged out? The light was on and then went off...

@eatonr53 Hello and thanks for the question. The optional leather for a 944 at the time did not include the upper dash or the very top of the doors. It covered the seats, lower dash, center console and door panels and arm rests. Pictures 85, 95, 102, 111 and 121 are a few that show the close-up leather and the stitching for the leather option on those pieces mentioned. I hope that helps with some clarity. Pretty rare option on a 944. Happy to answer any other questions.

Can you confirm optional black leather upholstery covering the dashboard and door panels
It doesnt look like a leather dash or door panels?
