Introduced in 1987 with redesigned aerodynamic bodywork and a new 5.0-liter DOHC V8 engine, the 928 S4 signified a major evolution of Porsche’s 928 grand touring car. This launch-year example is finished in the rare combination of Lagoon Green Metallic over a Grey Green full leather interior. It features a 4-speed automatic transaxle, the HiFi Sound Package, front seat lumbar support and memory functions, a power sunroof, a raised steering wheel hub, a limited-slip differential, Sport Shocks, and more. Showing less than approximately 27k kilometers or 17k miles on the odometer, this meticulously maintained 928 S4 is now being offered for auction by its seller out of Canada.
This example is finished in rare Lagoon Green Metallic and features pop-up headlights, fog lights, headlamp washers, body-colored side moldings, an electric sunroof, and 16” forged aluminum flat disc wheels. Upon the seller’s acquisition in 2023, the car retained a full-body paint protection film (PPF) applied in December 2021, which was professionally removed with the process fully documented in photos. Prior to 2017, the rear bumper cover and drip rails had been refinished with a poor color match. In 2023, the seller commissioned a top GTA-based painter to perform multiple spray-outs with slight primer variations, achieving a 99% color match including accurate metallic flake replication. The rear bumper cover, drip rails, and driver's side rear rub strip were refinished again in 2023 due to cosmetic issues stemming from decal residue and PPF removal. The car subsequently underwent a full paint correction to eliminate swirls and residual adhesive. Detailed paint meter images and a clean CARFAX report are provided in the gallery.
The rare Grey Green leather interior features front seat lumbar support with memory functions, a power-operated sunroof, a raised steering wheel hub, the HiFi Sound Package, and a factory alarm system. The only noted interior issue was a missing driver’s side floor carpet. Given the rarity of the Grey Green carpeting, the seller sourced a correct replacement from Lakewell, who required the purchase of a full carpet set. Only the missing piece was installed, and the remainder of the new carpet set will accompany the sale. The leather upholstery is described as being in excellent condition, with only minor wear on the driver’s side bolster.
Power comes from a 5.0-liter 32-valve DOHC V8 rated at 320 horsepower and 317 lb-ft of torque, paired with a 4-speed automatic transaxle and an optional limited-slip differential. The seller confirms that the engine and transmission numbers match the factory records. To address a prior wiring repair that did not meet the seller’s standards, a new Kroon-engineered LH harness was installed along with upgraded fuel lines. The following mechanical services and upgrades have been performed:
This sale will include a Canadian registration, owner's manuals, a window sticker, a toolkit, a spare tire, and an air pump.
The seller would like you to know: “Thank you for viewing my auction. I have detailed pictures from the restoration and will be available to answer any questions you may have. I am also planning on attending the Carlisle swap meet on May 3rd with the car, so feel free to stop by and say hello. A little about me, I have been restoring 928s since 2010 and currently run a small bespoke restoration company in Stoney Creek, Ontario. This is a personal vehicle that has been a passion project as I fell in love with the car when I found it. This car was first purchased in Montreal, Canada, and remained with its first owner until 2017. The second owner then moved the car to Alberta and then to BC when they relocated. The third owner purchased the car from BC and registered it in Ontario in November 2020. In early 2023, the third owner traded the car in at Porsche Vaughan. I purchased the car in May of 2023 from Porsche Vaughan.”

Would’a gone to fifty if wife had ok’d it, but the car’s worth a lot more!
Didn't think this would sell based on prior exchange with Seller outside of this site.
Completely understandable
Except it didn't sell!
Thank you, commentators and bidders. Unfortunately, she is staying with me for a little while longer.
Thank you, Adam.
Dozer, congratulations! You scored an awesome 928 (assuming reserve met?). Congratulations to Adam on an amazing car, presented in a stellar manner.
Looking forward to seeing what price is if it goes to Deal Tank
Wife allows 3 Porsches, but I managed to sneak in a motorcycle, although I suspect she knows that i know that I’m getting too old to ride it safely.

2023 appraisal before restoration has been added to the gallery. This one was done in delivery condition, I had not touched anything on the car. He did it at the dealer before I picked it up.

Lol, I have mentioned Porsche Center Vaughn many times, it was Porsche Markham that I purchased from. Way too many Porsche dealers in the Toronto area. And I just realized I also have an appraisal that was done before the restoration. I am looking for it.

I also have my bill of sale from Porsche Vaughn, the dealer history report, and UVIP from that transaction. Plus several Carfax reports. Will add a few pics now.
@Dozer Just the ones in the photos - The recent ones, the entries in the car fax, and the early warranty service stamps.
Do you have all of the service records or just the ones shown in the pictures?
Bid in the amount of $23,000
Great car from a first class seller. This one is an easy decision to go for it.

@Rob-Edwards Thank you, Rob, for the extra detail on the VIN. I do have the original sales brochure and swatch book that I will also include with the sale. Appreciate the kind words on my restoration. This one is going to be hard to say goodbye to.
Given how we’re all driving around today in a sea of mobile appliances painted in exciting colors like white and gray, what a pleasure to see a 4-paint can Rennbow color on this reference grade 928. Total production for 1987 was 2421, 548 5-speeds and 1873 automatics.
I don’t have complete paint code data for 1987 production but I know of only 4 in Lagoon green, including this one ( paint code F2). This is a C36 Canadian market, mid-late production ’87 (born-on date 2-26-87, warranty start date was 4-16-87), carpet code 8JK (gray-green), seat code QC2 (gray green), production number 1273052. Relatively heavily optioned for ’87 including heated seats, limited slip (M220), sport shocks (M474), and both sides’ seat memory.
All the boomer-board factoids aside, kudos to Adam for the top-tier work on this car, that engine compartment and undercarriage are >chef’s kiss<. High bidder is going to be very happy with this one.
Bid in the amount of $22,099
Just a recap for any US bidders. If requested or required by your state, I will change the speedometer to MPH and will save the original to keep with the car. And the duty on cars 25 years or older is 2.5%. I live 45 min from Niagara Falls.

I’ve been following your careful restoration of this car on social media. Beautiful work on/for a beautiful car. GLWTS!

Sorry for the multiple posts in a row. For my own sanity, I just pulled another Carfax, and it matches all of my previous Carfaxes. I have sent this to PCARMART to update the auction. Also happy to share the link or PDF via a DM if anyone would like to access the Carfax directly. I am going to be at the shop for a few hours this morning and will be ready to answer any questions. :)

I have added a picture of the odometer reading from the 2017 for sale ad; the pictures from this ad have been archived in a Renlist thread from 2017. Also, I have added a screen grab of my live Carfax from here in Canada, and I do not see any mileage entry for 2002. Regardless, the mileage is actually on this car. I know here in Ontario they will correct errors, Quebec might as well, but it would likely require going into an office in person as a phone call would be challenging with he language barrier.
@Dozer @Dozer, the mileage is actual for this car. The car fax I pulled this past February and the one from when I purchased it do not show any discrepancy. Also, I see the one posted here has the mileage in miles. If there is a mistake from Quebec Motor Vehicles, it is unlikely that it could be fixed, especially if the error happened over 20 years ago. I will pull another report today if that helps. I will post mine in the gallery.
Could you speak to the mileage on the vehicle? Is it actual or TMU? It appears there is a discrepancy on the CARFAX? If it is actual, is it possible to get it corrected given the age of the vehicle? Thanks.

Thank you @montecarlobeach, it is nice when hard work is appreciated from afar.
Additional pictures have been added.
2 showing the fuel tank fully buttoned up.
1 showing the missing passenger door lock cover now in place.
1 showing the scuff that was noted on the lower forward passenger door, now touched up.
And a pic of the gas door, as I think that was missed in the original set of pictures.

I am not in the market right now for a shark, but if I were, this one would be at the top of my list. I don't know the seller and only know the car from this listing, but appreciate the attention to detail and general knowledge that is behind this one. Good luck, seller and buyer.
Happy hump day. I am at the shop now, so please DM me if you want to chat about the car by phone, FaceTime, etc. Happy to answer any questions.
Thank you @doc928, it has been an honour to work on some of your beautiful and rare 928s. Your 86.5 has to be one of my favourite intake refreshes that I have done.
@buccicone, thank you for sharing that article. It is a great read. Such a beautiful GTS.
Today I took the car to Mantis Autosport in Oakville for a vehicle inspection. I am a firm believer that it is always good to have another pair of eyes on a project like this, especially when the duration is long. I also want to ensure that there are zero issues with any car that leaves my care. And understanding that it is challenging to bid on or purchase a car remotely, I wanted to share the inspection and the adjustments that were completed today.
First off, the team at Mantis has never seen a 928 that is in this condition; they were truly gobsmacked. If anyone would like to speak with them, please shoot me a DM, and I will arrange it.
- There was a dent in the gas tank that I had not noticed. I have confirmed by looking at my delivery pictures that this was a pre-existing dent prior to my ownership. The car likely had a tank vent issue causing suction many years ago, and because of the tension from the tank strap, the dent remained. The Porsche dealer did not catch it during their safety inspection in May of 2023. Luckily, the 928 ABS tank is quite strong and flexible. Today I drained the tank completely, loosened the tank strap to relieve any pressure on the tank, warmed the dent with a heat gun, and it returned to its original shape. A photo has been added to a gallery showing before and after.
- They noted that the upper hood catch was sticky. This needed a drop of lubricant and is now working 100%
- The brake pad sensor wires on the front brakes were routed behind the brake fluid line; this has been corrected. Photo added to gallery.
- On the rear brakes one of the wires, there was some tape wrapped around it, which was shortening the wire length. I removed this tape and re-wrapped both sides with a new outer sleeve. Photo added to gallery.
- They noted one mark on the hood leading edge, this is already noted in the gallery.
- And they noted one small scuff on the passenger lower door, which will be touched up - Photo of scuff added to library.
I will be available to show the car at my shop in Stoney Creek any time tomorrow or Thursday before the auction closes.

As the owner of the only Lagoon green GTS, I must say the restoration of this car is beyond what I have done with mine. If you are a PCA member, check out this months Panorama magazine.
https://ww2.pca.org/pano/apr-2025/#page=86
The seller has done some incredibly detailed work on my cars, from doing a full refresh on an 86.5, including rebuilding the upper engine to ‘jewelry’ specifications, and an ongoing full nut and bolt (down to the bare body) full mechanical and cosmetic restoration on a very rare early Euro Continental orange on Blue/Black Pasha 928. As the owner of likely the largest 928 collection in the states (23!) I have absolute trust in the incredible ability and honesty of the seller. I saw this car prior to his ownership and thought it was easily in the top 10 928’s I have set eyes on. Now it’s beyond flawless and has been mechanically and cosmetically completely brought to 100%. Absolutely amazing.
Yes, and the PS system has been gone through, with fresh rubber hoses, reservoir, and fresh fluid. Steering is wonderfully easy in this car, but controlled at speed, the elevated hub also brings the steering wheel a bit closer.
@Ry4143149 All 928s do.
Hello, does this car have power steering?
Bid in the amount of $15,555
@Maui928 @Maui928, Very cool that you saw it back then. I love how this community makes the 928 world feel so small. That is where the PO purchased it from.
I had the pleasure of seeing this car in Vancouver when it was for sale at Weissach around 2020. It is a true time capsule and even better now that the current owner got his hands on it. Good luck all!
@Highflyer12 It was nice chatting with you, too. Thank you for the kind words. Your car is in great hands with Mr. Merliin.
Wow. Superb example!
I had the pleasure of meeting Adam at the Porsche Swap Meet on Saturday. He was there with his beautiful white 928 S4. His attention to detail was evident chatting with him and checking out his white 928. Based on the photos and restoration of this beautiful Lagoon Green S4 the new owner will have a gem of a 928! Mr. Merlin has been working his magic on my 1987 S4 over the years so I know what a quality 928 restoration looks like, Adam’s car checks all the boxes. Good luck Adam and early congratulations to the upcoming new owner.
Happy Monday, PCarmarket. I am working with a well-known and trusted local independent Porsche shop to inspect the car, hopefully, this will take place tomorrow morning. I will share the report here when ready.
@The914 Thanks, I kinda hope it does too, so I can see it once in a while. She is my baby.
@MarkCharlton Hi Mark, no issue, this is a Canadian car in Canada with an Ontario registration. My comments on importing are applicable only if a US bidder wins the auction.
What an excellent presentation of a classic! Hope it stays in Ontario. GLWA!
Adam, please clarify if the car is, or is not to be sold in Canada. I am probably misunderstanding your comments about export. I don’t want to have to re-import it into Canada should I be successful in my bid. Thanks.
Thank you all for the compliments. I have returned from PA. As we move into the last few days of this auction, I wanted to post my availability for viewings. If you are interested in a viewing in NY on Wednesday, please reach out by Tuesday afternoon so I can arrange it. For any US buyers, I will do everything in my power to assist with the import. That being said, I will also take care of the cost for a broker to facilitate on the winner's behalf. For any personal land crossings, I can accompany you over the border with the car plated in Ontario.
Sunday evening, available after 7 pm
Monday, 9 am to 1 pm and 6 pm to 9 pm
Tuesday, 9 am - 1 pm and 4 pm to 8 pm
Wednesday all day at the shop if there is no interest in any NY visitations.
Thursday, 9 am to noon
@neunwerks Agree, very simple process, done this twice before once out of BC and another out of Ontario. 2.5% fee and a few hundred bucks paperwork at most. Often a good transporter will double as the customs agent as well. Good luck, great car!
Gorgeous car, not going to see many color combinations like this and in this condition/mileage. Wow.
We love 928s, our founder has had an '89 for over 20 years.
Beautiful S4, we just wish it was on our site.
Good luck @neunwerks. Good luck, bidders.
@needanothercar There is no issue importing to the US as it has full California emissions and is over 25 years old. I will help the winner with this process and will post more details early this week. Your local state may require an MPH speedo, which I can also swap out if requested. Other than that, it is identical to a US-delivered car.
Another beautiful 928, just wish it were manual. Had the same model, except manual, that I purchased from a Swiss Doctor. (Wish I had never allowed my sister to borrow the car and wrap it around a concrete highway pillar), Since car was never in US, any problem with exporting this to the US?
@The914 Yes, Budd's in Oakville. Reach out to Allie Shenton.
Would the seller be willing to share the name of the ‘top GTA-based painter’ with a fellow Ontario Porsche owner? (from studying the receipts, it may be Budds in Oakville or Neunweks in Burlington?). Thank you.
Thank you @rog100, I could not have completed this restoration without your expertise. The solutions you have for some of the NLA parts are invaluable to the 928 community. @checkmate1996 yes, it will be hard to let her go; she has become part of the family.
I have arrived in PA and will be at the show tomorrow with my white '87, please stop by and say hi.
For any local viewings I will be available late Sunday and all of next week. Inspections are welcome.
Wow! This is reference quality restoration! Great job Adam! The amount of time to do this kind of restoration is silly. Kudos! I personally wouldn't ever be able to sell it! GLWA.
Adam's commitment to detail is outstanding. I have yet to see the finished car in the flesh, however looking at the detail, this is about as close to factory delivered you could get.
As a 928 centric parts supplier I can attest to the "money is no object" approach to the resurrection of this beautiful car. We appreciate your business Adam.
Adam’s service will be in high demand in the 928 community and his complete success is assured.
Someone is going to get a very special car.
Good morning and happy Friday, PCarmart peeps. I have decided not to bring the car to PA due to the weather forecast and the terrible driving conditions that I will face while trailering home. The car is simply too valuable to risk it, especially during a live auction. But I will be at the show in my white shark, and I will have my full image library with me in case anyone wants to discuss the car in detail. Next Wednesday, May 7th I can spend the day in Buffalo near the airport, should anyone like to put eyes on it. It is so much cheaper flying within the US, so I am here to simplify things as best I can. I will be on the road for the next 7 hours, so I may be a little slower responding to questions until I arrive in PA.
I have over 1400 pictures of my restoration, so please feel free to ask for any detail. That being said, as I reviewed pictures this evening, I realized I did not mention that the wheel liners have also been cleaned and refreshed. Pictures have been added to the gallery.
Additional content has been added to the gallery for this listing.
Thanks Adam, I’m too far away to pop over. Maybe I’ll drive this green 928 instead of my ‘86 to SIO. 😁
@MarkCharlton I will be at the shop in the AM if you want to have a look, I probably won't leave for PA until about 10 am. If not any day next week, the car will be available for viewing at the shop.
I was hoping to see this car ahead of the auction but you were too quick Adam.
Bid in the amount of $15,000
Wow. The number of truly special 928s that cross the block is limited. This stunning example is one of those rare breeds. A unique and special color combo, an honest presentation with a rare opportunity to see the car and meet the seller makes it that much more desirable IMO.
GLWA!
Thank you for the kind words @worf928.
Welcome to my auction for this beautiful 928. I am ready to answer any questions, so please feel free to ask anything. I am planning to bring the car to Carlisle, PA, this weekend for the big swap meet. Please stop by the Porsche corral and say hi.

If anyone wants to know what a perfect example of a 87+ 928 is supposed to look like under the hood and looking up at it on a lift: study this one. Once every year or three a restoration of this quality crosses the block.
