The Porsche 924 S debuted at the Frankfurt Motor Show in 1986 as the final evolution of the 924, significantly revamped with an improved engine, braking system, and suspension borrowed from the 944 model. Featuring a 5-speed manual transmission, this 1987 example is finished in Guards Red over Light Grey interior upholstery. Benefitting from a comprehensive cosmetic and mechanical refurbishment under prior ownership, this example was acquired by the seller here on PCARMARKET in October 2022. Recently treated to an oil change and fluid refresh, this 924 S is now being offered for auction out of Florida, with less than 93,000 miles showing on the odometer.
The 924 S features pop-up headlights, integrated bumpers, side direction indicators, and a glass rear hatch topped with a black polyurethane spoiler. This example is finished in Guards Red (LM3A) and rides on 16”x7” Design 90 wheels mounted with Michelin Primacy Alpin winter tires from 2010. Under previous ownership, the car received new side moldings, lenses, mirrors, and a refinish of the nose panel and headlamp covers. Prior to that, the driver’s side fender, door, and quarter panel were refinished, likely related to the minor damage noted on the CARFAX report in 2003. The seller notes cosmetic blemishes on the driver’s side door, sunroof, and the rear panel beneath the license plate. Detailed images are provided in the gallery.
Inside, the Light Grey (XP) upholstery is paired with a brown dashboard and upper door panels. Refurbishment under prior ownership included new custom leather seat covers, refinishing of the dashboard and door toppers, replacement carpeting, new instrument cluster bulbs, window switches, hood and hatch struts, and carpeted floor mats. The tachometer was previously rebuilt by Palo Alto Speedometer, the sunroof was modified to utilize manual latches, and a Brey Krause stainless steel harness bar was fitted behind the seats. Additionally, the sound system was upgraded with a modern Blaupunkt Bluetooth/USB radio. The A/C system and power-adjustable mirrors are currently inoperable, although all other gauges are reported to function properly. The seller notes that the instrument cluster lamps have been replaced, and the pop-up sunroof deflector has broken hinges on both ends. The deflector is included with the sale, though the left and right hinges require reinstallation.
Upon the previous owner’s acquisition in 2019, a replacement 2.5-liter engine was sourced and overhauled with new rod bearings, gaskets, ignition components, drive belts, timing belt, rollers, mounts, water pump, thermostat, sensors, filters, heater core, and heater valve. The refurbishment also included cleaning the radiator, fuel injectors, and fuel tank. The fuel system was renewed with a new pump, pressure regulator, hoses, filter, and sensors. The 5-speed manual transmission received a new Sachs clutch assembly along with a resurfaced flywheel, new master and slave cylinders, bearings, and shifter bushings. The suspension, steering, and braking systems were comprehensively refurbished with new components, including Sachs struts, Weltmeister 250 lb. front springs, 27mm rear torsion bars, and new Boge sport shocks at the rear. The seller adds that an oil change was performed and all fluid levels were checked and refreshed in preparation for the sale.
This sale will include a clean title, a toolkit, a spare tire, an air pump, and a wind deflector.
The seller would like you to know: “The car has been thoroughly examined and repaired, replacing and reconditioning items as needed, to the highest standard. It has been kept stock, except for adding stiffer front springs and rear torsion bars. Also added are desirable D90 wheels in 16X7 size. There is no rust to speak of. The car presents very well and is exceptionally clean. It does have some minor cosmetic blemishes, documented below and in available photographs. This car is as mechanically sound (and fun to drive) as you will find from this era.”

@luis.seneriz Driving video incoming
A driving video would definitely be helpful.
@FlaJbird - Thank you, and much obliged.
@BLH944 To my knowledge the replacement engine was a rebuilt engine from Pelican Parts using a '86 block and a '87 cylinder head, neither were original to the car.
@Jimbo1907 I have not performed a compression and leakdown during my ownership. I will look into whether that was done under prior ownership.
Was a compression and leakdown test done during your ownership of the car? Thank you.
Thank you Seller- looks very nice. Any details on the source of the replacement engine, model correct, etc? GLWTA
