The Porsche 924 S debuted at the Frankfurt Motor Show in 1986 as the final evolution of the 924, Porsche's original water-cooled transaxle sports car. Paired with a 4-cylinder engine and upgraded suspension and braking systems, the 924 S delivered increased refinement and fluidity. This 1987 example comes refinished in its original silver metallic color over a black interior featuring seats with Porsche-script cloth inserts. Acquired by its seller from a reputable Porsche specialist and dealer, this lifelong California car is being offered for auction at no reserve showing approximately 85k miles on the odometer.

The 924 S features pop-up headlights, a glass rear deck lid with a black polyurethane spoiler, integrated bumpers, and side direction indicators. This example is said to have been refinished in its original silver metallic color in 2022. It rides on the factory "telephone dial" light alloy wheels, inspired by those designed previously by Tony Lapine for his own 924, mounted with Sumitomo HTR A/S P02 tires. The seller notes a minor accident caused cosmetic damage to the passenger side front bumper and shock absorber. Detailed images are provided in the gallery along with a CARFAX report.

The cabin features black leather upholstery with Porsche-script cloth inserts. The seller adds that the dashboard has been reupholstered to like-new condition, a Bosch water temperature gauge has been installed and relocated to the center console, and an aftermarket radio has been fitted below the air conditioning module. Signs of wear are noted on the driver’s side floor mat, along with cracking on the front seats.

The 924 S features a 2.5-liter inline-four engine borrowed from the Porsche 944, delivering up to 150 HP and 142 lb.-ft of torque to the rear wheels through a 5-speed manual transaxle. The suspension and braking systems were also borrowed from the 944, including ventilated discs with floating calipers at all corners. This example was also optioned with power steering. The seller adds that the clutch was replaced within the last 5 years, and the catalytic converter was replaced within the last 3 years.

This sale will include a clean title and two keys.

@besi Our Porsche mechanic asked us to not use the sunroof if we wanted it to stay waterproof. so we have never used the sunroof

  • besi (registered bidder) 1 year, 10 monthsago

@beesonjohn94 thanks for the pictures. Does the sunroof operate well in both functions (raise a few inches, or retract for removal)?

Hello to all bidders on our Porsche 924s. I want to thank my son John for doing all this work to make this happen. Also Will with PC Carmarket. This is our first auction here.
I have owned this Porsche for nearly 8 years. We have tried to be faithful in our stewardship by replacing the interior professionally, paint work, correcting wiring issues, the cooling system as well as mechanical repairs listed. I do need to say this car of all our classics has been faithful. Meaning we have not started it in months due to other projects, she always has fired up first click! Amazing car. Runs smooth and handles well. A nice car will soon be someone here on PC Car market! GLWTA everyone.

@beesonjohn94 How long have you owned this 924?
Also, can you decipher the damaged option code sticker?

  • beesonjohn94 (seller) 1 year, 10 monthsago

@Efariab no worries. I do remember the mechanic telling me when he replaced the clutch, he said it was dated 87’. So assuming it was the original clutch, lasted about 30 years and 80k miles.

  • Efariab (registered bidder) 1 year, 10 monthsago

@beesonjohn94, thanks for getting back to me .
By the way, I did not put all those 3 question marks (???) at the end of my last comment !
Perhaps someone at Pcarmarket thought that was needed ?

  • beesonjohn94 (seller) 1 year, 10 monthsago

@Efariab Checking the carfax, there is a clutch service in 08/2018. Besides that i currently do not have the services records for that, and the shop that performed that service is closed on Sundays.

  • Efariab (registered bidder) 1 year, 10 monthsago

    @beesonjohn94
Thanks for the answer on my questions about the spare tire, jack & the clutch job ???

@Efariab the car did not have any of those items when we purchased the car. But the clutch paperwork i will contact the shop that performed the service and get the records from them and then post them.

Hi there, are there spare tire, jack, owners manual, etc. ??
Also would you be able to find & post the service records on the actual clutch job (Clutch disc, pressure plate, etc. an Expensssssive repair, especially here in California) Not the just the external hydraulic cylinders ??
    Thanks

@beesonjohn94 Yes - on the back wall between the trunk lock and the driver-side tail light housing. about 2.5" x 3" tag

  • beesonjohn94 (seller) 1 year, 10 monthsago

@kevinduffy is that in the spare tire location?

  • kevinduffy (registered bidder) 1 year, 10 monthsago

Can you include a photo of the trunk tag on the back wall next to the tail light - the one with the factory option codes? Thanks.

  • beesonjohn94 (seller) 1 year, 10 monthsago

@Drive-em In our records I can find that the water pump was done in May of 2022, at the moment I can't find our records for the timing belt or the clutch. But I know the clutch was done in our first or second year of ownership. The AC also blows cold, there has been no suspension maintenance, and the power steering is not leaking. The car does not leak any fluids.

  • Drive-em (registered bidder) 1 year, 10 monthsago

Can you tell me when the timing belt and water pump were last changed? How many miles on them and the clutch? Does the AC blow cold? Any suspension maintenance? Is the power steering leaking at all? Thanks you!

  • beesonjohn94 (seller) 1 year, 10 monthsago

    @1991928gt No

  • 1991928gt (registered bidder) 1 year, 10 monthsago

Any independent Leak Down or Compression test results?

  • beesonjohn94 (seller) 1 year, 10 monthsago

@Callmemr The 924 has two shock absorbers placed horizontally holding the front bumper in position, allowing it to reduce damage upon a impact. In June of 2020 the front bumper was pushed in on one side. Upon removal of the bumper and inspection, the only part that needed replacing was one of the aforementioned shock absorber. And the shock absorber was replaced and the bumper was reinstalled.

  • Callmemr (registered bidder) 1 year, 10 monthsago

Could you elaborate on damage to shock absorber? "...cosmetic damage to the passenger side front bumper and shock absorber."

  • beesonjohn94 (seller) 1 year, 10 monthsago

Greetings all of Pcarmarket, we are available for any questions. We look forward to selling this 924 that has served us well. We will be checking our listing daily.
