This 1987 911 Turbo was ordered through Northwood Imports of San Antonio, Texas, finished in Guards Red with an optional Champagne Special Leather interior, painted wheels, limited-slip differential, and the exclusive M505 Slant Nose option which cost nearly $24k alone.  One of approximately 200 Slant Nose 930s delivered to the U.S. for the model year, this Turbo is characterized by its handcrafted flat front fenders, pop-up headlights, and boxed rocker panels which meet straked air intakes at the rear quarters.  It was acquired by the current owner in January of 2018 and has since been fitted with an upgraded WEVO shifter, LED H4 headlights, a keyless entry system, and a custom sound system with an amplifier and upgraded speakers.  Also benefitting from an extensive and thoroughly documented service history, this rare 930 Slant Nose is now being offered for auction by its seller out of North Carolina showing approximately 51k miles on the odometer.

This Turbo was ordered in Guards Red with matching painted centers for the 16” Fuchs wheels. The pop-up headlights have been retrofitted with an Xtreme LED PRO H4 conversion kit, and a 9H premium protective glass coating was applied in November of 2019.  The car rides on a set of Pirelli P Zero tires dated from 2017. All interested parties are encouraged to review the photo gallery and CARFAX report.

The cabin is trimmed in Champagne Special Leather upholstery with a matching leather steering wheel and black dashboard.  Factory options include front seat lumbar support and black velour carpeting for the luggage compartment.  The footwells have been lined with custom red carpet mats and an aftermarket black leather knob has been fitted to the upgraded WEVO short shifter assembly.  A keyless entry system has been integrated and the sound system was overhauled with upgraded speakers, an amplifier, and a Kenwood head unit.  The air conditioning and heating system were serviced under the current ownership and corresponding invoices are provided in the gallery.

The turbocharged and intercooled 3.3L flat-six engine produces as much as 282 HP and 289 lb.-ft of torque, driving the rear wheels through a 4-speed manual transmission and factory optioned limited-slip differential.  The seller reports over $15k were invested in maintenance during their ownership and detailed records are provided in the gallery dating from a recent brake service and oil change in 2021, to a 30k-mile service carried out in 1996.

This sale will include the original window sticker, service records, and a clean title. One of the rarest and most iconic 911 Turbos of all, this factory M505 Slant Nose makes a great addition to any Porsche collection.

@rnak this is a factory slant nose optioned with the M505 slant option that was priced at an additional $24k in 1987. See image #142 for details.

    This is not a conversion.

@930flachbau I saw you commenting on the previous slant-nose and would like to see if you have any insight on this car. Is this a dealer installed slant-nose or factory? Any info is appreciated.

any insight on the odometer issue? How long did it stop working for before it was replaced, etc?

Were any of the factory wires/harness split into when installing the audio components?

@lgprez Thanks for your prompt response! And agreed on the AC, the factory setup was not great. Appreciate the insight on the Kuehl system.

  • lgprez (seller) 2 years, 10 monthsago

@stad0042 see photos 142, 143, 144 and 145 to address part of your question - thanks!

  • lgprez (seller) 2 years, 10 monthsago

@stad0042 I have submitted several photos of the driver seat bolster for addition to the auction listing. I have also submitted an image of the original window sticker; it is a photocopy. The actual window sticker is framed and matted and will be included with the car.

The AC works very well, although if you are familiar with these 911s you'll know that even at their very best they aren't "amazing" AC systems. I daily drive a '79 930 and I installed the Kuehl aftermarket AC system on my car; if you are planning to drive in a very hot or humid climate I can't recommend their system enough. That said, this one does a great job and you should be perfectly fine with it - it's the best one I've ever experienced in an air-cooled 911, of the 8 that we've owned.

We do not have a COA on this vehicle.

Re: the leak I am still researching this issue to give you the most accurate answer. I can tell you that we've seen no leaks under this car and my most recent cursory mechanical inspection under a lift last week showed none either. I will respond here as I find out more on this issue.

Very nice looking turbo, @lgprez. A few questions as we close in on 24 hours left:
-The 2020 Porsche multi point inspection did note an engine oil leak, has that been remedied?
-Are you able to add some shots of the driver seat wear and condition, COA or original window sticker?
-Is the AC original? Sounds like it was serviced and is operating well?
    Thanks

@82turboruf see the receipt dated 4/15/2018, these are from Xenon Depot.

Where did you get H4 LED headlights? Never heard of them. Beautiful turbo GLWS

    @HK31 see photo #141

  • lgprez (seller) 2 years, 10 monthsago

@agt6381 we have seen no oil leaks onto the floor of the garage at all. I have reviewed that photo and I do not know exactly what that is; photo was taken with a mechanic present and he also did not spot anything.

@ lgprez (seller). Picture 89 appears to have an oil leak. Can provide info regarding the oil?

@Balzan Thank you - and yes I failed to explain the wireless audio controls that are present on the steering wheel. It allows you to change volume, advance or rewind track or station, mute volume and change input source. It is easily removed/reinstalled as it is completely wireless.

Hi. You have a very beautiful car. Can you tell me what the black thing on the steering wheel is? Is that to set it from regular drive to sport like the newer Porsches and was that an add on?

  • lgprez (seller) 2 years, 10 monthsago

My name is Kevin and I look forward to answering any questions or providing any clarity on this highly collectible vehicle. My father owned the vehicle for the past several years and we are looking forward to working with you during the auction process. Thanks for taking the time and giving this very special car your consideration.
