Available for auction is this 1987 Porsche 911 Carrera Targa finished in grey over a black interior. The 1987 model debuted with the desirable G50 5-speed manual transmission and upgraded power output. This example benefits from a full engine rebuild including a custom turbocharger setup to deliver an enhanced driving experience. This timeless air-cooled Targa is now being offered for auction by its seller out of Indiana.
This Carrera has been refinished in grey and features a wraparound glass rear window, and a black removable roof panel separated by a black Targa band. Also equipped are integrated front fog lights, rear fender stone guards, and a Turbo-style Tea Tray rear spoiler. The 16” Fuchs wheels are dressed in Dunlop Direzza Sport Z1 tires. The seller notes that some imperfections are present within the paint, detailed images are provided in the photo gallery.
The interior is appointed with black leather seats, which present very well. The door inserts have been reupholstered with black leather and fitted RS-style door pulls. This example features a stereo delete and has been modified with a 6-point welded roll cage, a MOMO suede steering wheel, and a dashboard cover. Factory equipment includes a central locking system, full power-operated seats, cruise control, and air conditioning.
This 911 equips an air-cooled 3.2-liter flat-six engine that sends up to 487 HP to the rear wheels through a G50 5-speed manual transmission. Accompanying records include an invoice for a full engine and transmission rebuild in 2001, along with valve adjustment, new spark plugs, and an airflow sensor in 2008, a fuel system overhaul, and new windshield and shifter bushings in 2011. The seller notes that the underside tends to leave a slight drop of oil. Detailed records and a clean CARFAX report are included in the gallery.
This sale will include owner's manuals and a clean title.

@cockee Give me a couple minutes and I'll get some and upload them :)
Any pics available of the targa panel removed and surrounding weather-stripping area as well as detailed underside pics of the car?
@JohnBlackyoldtimer Yeah I understand, but do keep in mind we don't write the ads, that's PCAR. There's a lot of back and forth with them, and apparently details can get lost in the mix through that process. I am available to FaceTime and go over the car if anyone likes, our number can be requested from PCAR. :)
For example, the glove box door seems to be in very bad shape. It would have been fair to point that out in the first photos to create trust.
Since they have already offered several vehicles here, they should present the vehicles honestly and comprehensively. This is implemented very well at BaT. Comprehensive photos from below of a lifting platform would also have been very good. Photos of the attachment of the roll bar, the trunk without carpet and spare wheel, the engine, the brakes, etc.
I was unsettled by the fact that some photos showed scratch marks, broken rubber, and a damaged glove compartment flap. Then an oily engine, missing exhaust parts, etc. Some auctions offer up to 350 photos, which is certainly not always necessary. But the seller should describe and show all critical points and videos are of course also important.
I wish you a good sale and a happy new owner. I've already reached my limit with the points listed and I'm curious to see where the maximum price will be.
Much luck.
@JohnBlackyoldtimer I can measure the gaps with dial calipers when I get in this morning, the door gap appears correct. The door protruding out slightly could be adjusted at the hinge, this era is still basically a hand built car. Unknown on the drip, most likely a pushrod tube seal. What other overview/detail photos would you like?
Thanks for the photos. Something doesn't seem right with the driver's door. It protrudes too far from the hinges and the gap dimensions are not correct. Does the seller have an explanation for this?
The turbocharger does not have a separate silencer. Is it wanted like that? Where do the engine leaks come from? Valve cover or engine block?
Overall, the vehicle presents itself well. But important overview and detail photos are missing. It's a shame, but I'm not too sure. Sorry I'm out.

@JohnBlackyoldtimer Supposedly done by the same shop but no documentation. As for why, probably as simple as "for fun". The door gap and transition looks good in person, I'll see if I can add a couple photos. On the wiring, mainly for the radio that was deleted (these are always a bit messy looking underneath). I can add glove box in/out photos. Unknown on speedometer repair (I don't see it on CarFax, just in the receipts). And I'll get pics of the misc labels and VIN plaques. :)

Hi, nice 911 with a few open questions. Who did the turbo conversion, why was it done?
Has the car had damage to the driver's door, as the reflection in photo 22 in particular is unclean, i.e. there is no clean transition?
Why are there loose wires under the dashboard and what were they for? Please also post pictures of the glove compartment open and closed.
The carfax says the speedometer is repaired. Can you say how many empty miles were driven?
Then pictures in the trunk of the plaque and VIN would be good, of the parts plate under the hood and the VIN from the window.
Please also pictures of the engine without air filter and from below.
Many Thanks.

@burnrubr New pistons and cylinders, balanced crank with flywheel, and lowered compression for the turbo setup. Not a shop, but we do mainly sell Porsches. :)
Are you a Porsche shop and built this? thanks
Is the engine/trans rebuild stock or upgraded internals? nice sleeper btw
@Daisypo Unknown, reading through receipts my impression is it was already there when the full rebuild was performed at 130k miles.
Do you happen to know at mileage the turbo put in
