Up for auction is a very straight, solid, and original 1987 Porsche 911 Targa finished in Venetian Blue Metallic.  The condition and originality of this example make it one that is sure to be extremely sought after.  Originally sold new in Florida, the selling dealer acquired this Targa from the 3rd owner who purchased and cared for this car since 2011.  Since the previous owner’s purchase, the car has been garage-kept in Woodbury, NY and serviced locally at Formula Motorsports in Long Island City, NY.

The seller states that this car has never endured any accident and only minor paint work is detected on the driver side quarter panel rendering this to be in amazing survivor condition.   As seen in the gallery photos, the paint is in well above-average condition aside from some minor chips and scratches that an original car would endure. The original factory Fuch wheels were just refinished and are wearing a set of Kuhmo tires.

The partial gray leather interior is accented by a black dashboard and is also stated to be in excellent condition with well-below normal wear.  The seller had some touch-up work performed to the driver’s seat bolster as well as the shift knob in order to make the condition consistent with the rest of the surfaces.  The original dash is free of cracks and all electronics work as they should, including the original VDO instruments and the upgraded Alpine head unit.

Power comes from the standard 3.2-liter flat-six engine and is paired with the iconic G50 5-speed manual transmission. This Targa remains mechanically stock and is in excellent running condition. The previous owner claims that over $5k in service was completed in the last two years and is currently searching for the records.  If found, they will be included with the sale. The selling dealer just performed a fluid service, replaced the oil pressure sender, breather plate gasket, and oil thermostat O-ring to the vehicle that was otherwise deemed to have a very clean bill of health.

In 1966 Porsche introduced the 911 Targa, a hybrid between a convertible and a coupe. The 1989 Carrera Targa was the final year and most sorted iteration of the g-body 911.

This G50 Targa is being sold with a clean Carfax, original books, and two sets keys.

What a beautiful color combination. Based on all i can see, this seems like the Targa to own. As long as the price doesn’t get silly. I would think anything under 45k is a real good deal. &45-50k fair.

@mx114 the shop responded to us, the car was in for a fluid service, plugs and valve adjustment. Additionally my mechanic looked over the car prior to my purchase and signed off on it. This is a very honest and solid car with no disappointments

Has anything been done with the AC?

  • EUROsellinc (seller) 5 years, 6 monthsago

@mx114 hello. I don’t want to speculate, however, I am familiar with the shop that he used so I can call over there tomorrow and see if they still have the copies. FYI another potential bidder had a ppi done yesterday, you are welcome to have it inspected. Very nice, honest car here. Someone will be getting a good one.

Like to see the "claimed" service records... Does previous owner state what services were performed?

Does the car still have its catalytic converter installed? Can you confirm the emissions decal is in place underneath the engine lid?
