This Cherry Red 1987 Porsche 911 Carrera Cabriolet marks the first year of the desirable G50 manual transmission and was upgraded under prior ownership with a larger 3.6-liter flat-six engine. The car also features a retrofitted 993-style electric rear spoiler, a factory limited slip differential, and a custom dual exhaust system with a Magnaflow muffler. This Carrera is now being offered for auction by its seller out of Tennessee with approximately 79k miles showing on the odometer.
This 911 is finished in Cherry Red (80F) an uncommon shade that is now offered as an option in Porsche’s exclusive Paint to Sample catalog. Equipment includes a power-operated black soft top, slim European-style bumperettes, dual exhaust outlets, a front spoiler, integrated front fog lights, black headlight rings, and an automatically deploying 993-style rear spoiler custom retrofitted into the decklid. The car rides on 16” Fuchs alloy wheels measuring 7” wide in front and 9” wide in the rear, dressed in a set of Toyo Proxes tires. The seller notes the rear quarter panels, doors, and decklid were previously refinished, additional images are provided in the gallery along with a clean CARFAX report.
The black interior has been customized with an aftermarket Ruspa sport steering wheel and a newer Blaupunkt San Francisco 300 radio paired with upgraded Blaupunkt door speakers. Other accessories include power windows, an alarm system, and automatic heating control.
A replacement 3.6-liter flat-six engine was sourced from a 1995 Porsche 993 Carrera and installed by Performance Porsche of San Diego in 2020. The conversion was completed using a component kit from Instant G of Newark, Delaware, and the engine has been further upgraded with a dual outlet exhaust system, Magnaflow muffler, and high-flow air filter. Power is sent to the rear wheels by way of a 5-speed G50 manual transmission with a factory optional limited-slip differential as well as a replacement flywheel and Sachs clutch kit which were fitted during the engine installation. The suspension consists of Bilstein dampers at each corner and includes a Rennline front strut tower brace.
This sale will include some records and a clean title.

Well conceived and accomplished. Wish we knew more about the mileage of the engine but overall it does look the understated bomb. If I didnt have a 964 Id be all over this. Good luck, though I dont think you'll need it. I predict big $$$.

@r3drov3r Happy New Year!
The Heat exchangers are there and in good condition.I would imagine heating would be a fairly easy finish (review undercarriage pics.
The wheels and tires are a subjective taste. Some people see it and think it is the bomb in the current configuration. The wheels are Turbo wheels so well worth the price of admission.
I see that someone asked about the A/C. Any comment on the heating? If I remember this car did not have heat.
I find this car very attractive and an interesting build, but I do believe the wheels and tires are probably something the new owner will need to consider addressing. The fronts don't look to be the right aspect ratio. Too thin/not enough sidewall. I also think the wheels are possibly not appropriate for this car. The offset might be wrong or perhaps there are spacers that can be removed.
I love the color and the 993 wing. Very sharp. I also believe that is a European rear bumper which look better than the original IMO. Anyway, there's probably a little money to be put into this after sale, but if you want to personalize and have something different when you drive to the next car show, this one checks that box.
Good luck with the auction!

Good morning Porsche enthusiates. The ad went live while traveling, now back in the saddle.
HAPPY NEW YEAR to all, hope this is a prosperous New Year for all.
The engine is 3.6 from a 1996 car.The engine was profusely installed at the cost of a little over $20,000.The receipts are present in this presentation.
Because I did not have any history on the engine I gave it to Renntag Motorwerks in Nashville, highly respected Porsche tech, one can see his reviews on any Rennlist thread.
I had him do a check over of the engine as well as leakdown and compression check.
The numbers are as follows:
#1-8% leakage,170 lb comp.
#2-6% leakage,170 lb comp.
#3-3% leakage-170 lb comp
#4-7% leakage-170 lb comp.
#5-8% leakage-165 lb comp
#6-5% leakage-185 lb comp.
These are good numbers.
In regards to A/C,it can be reinstalled ,we do not have any a/c components that will go with car.
Enjoy your Holiday!
I notice the tags have expired. Any concerns with getting this smogged and the visual inspection?
Is it possible to add back an AC unit?
This car is absolutely killer. Great stance IMO
Any additional information on the 3.6 would be helpful.
Those 7" & 9"'s OEM wheels look very cool on this car.
