The Porsche 911 Carrera was updated for the 1987 model year featuring a more powerful 3.2-liter flat-six engine and a new 5-speed G50 manual transaxle. This 1987 Carrera Coupe is finished in rare Granite Green Metallic paint over Grey Green leather upholstery and was factory optioned with a limited-slip differential, sport shock absorbers, front and rear spoilers, an electric sunroof, a power-adjustable driver’s seat, velour luggage compartment lining, and 16” Fuchs forged alloy wheels. Sold new in Indiana, it spent time in Illinois, Michigan, California, and Florida prior to the selling dealer’s acquisition. This well-appointed Carrera Coupe is now being offered for auction out of New York with approximately 47k miles showing on the odometer.
This 911 came factory-finished in the uncommon shade of Granite Green Metallic (L699) and was equipped with optional front and rear spoilers. Other features include a front valence with integrated fog lights, an electric sunroof, heater and power-adjustable mirrors, a rear window wiper, and 16” Fuchs forged alloy wheels. It currently rides on a set of Michelin Pilot Sport tires. The seller indicates the rear decklid was refinished in 2023 to address corrosion and some very minor imperfections are present around the exterior. Detailed images are provided in the gallery along with a clean CARFAX report.
The cabin is trimmed with Grey Green leather upholstery spanning the seats, dashboard, door panels, steering wheel, shifter, and center console. Accessories include grey carpets and floor mats, an optional 8-way power-adjustable driver’s seat, power windows, a central locking system, climate control, cruise control, a quartz clock, and a Blaupunkt Reno SQR 46 AM/FM cassette stereo. The seller indicates the air conditioning system has been updated with use R134a refrigerant.
Rated at 217 HP and 195 lb.-ft of torque, the air-cooled 3.2-liter flat-six engine sends power to the rear wheels through a 5-speed G50 manual transaxle and an optional limited-slip differential. Optional sport shock absorbers were equipped at the factory and the car comes standard with four-wheel ventilated disc brakes. Service records are provided for reference in the gallery.
This sale will include owner's manuals, a toolkit, a spare tire, an air compressor, and a clean title.
The seller would like you to know: "Granite Green over Grey-Green leather, Grey Carpeting, 47,000 miles from new, 3.2l Flat-Six Cylinder Engine, G50 5-speed manual gearbox, Factory air conditioning, Factory sunroof, Limited Slip Differential, 16x6 & 16x7” Fuchs wheels, Original books, tools and jack. Introduced in 1984, the G-Series 911s were the last of the original Porsche 911 design before the 964 bodies launched in 1990. The all-alloy, flat-6 engine featured a bump in displacement to 3.2 liters from 3.0 liter as well as an upgraded Bosch Motronic Fuel Injection system from the 911 SC's CIS injection system. The gearbox was transitioned from the dated “915” 5-speed gearbox to the infamous G-50 transmission. The G50 proved bulletproof with regard to strength as well as being far easier to shift and far more precise when shifting from gear to gear. Power output is 231hp and a 0-60 time of 5.5 seconds. All Carrera 3.2s featured galvanized steel bodies which ensured durability in comparison to its predecessors. This 911 Carrera Coupe was ordered and delivered new through a factory franchise Porsche dealer, Porsche Exchange, Highland Park Illinois. This 911 retains its original, rare, special-ordered color combination of Granite Green Metallic Paint over Grey-Green supple leather. Options include Blaupunkt Charleston radio, Factory sunroof, Driver's seat 8-way electrical operation, Central locking system, Factory alarm, and Cruise control system. The air conditioning system has been upgraded to R-134A. Exceptionally well maintained and cared for from new, this extremely low mileage, rare color combination 911 3.2 liter Carrera Coupe has been serviced when and where needed to ensure its being kept in the best condition possible. Inspections are welcomed, it is not the norm to find early Carrera's as this in superb condition throughout. This is an opportunity to purchase, a wonderful and rare 911 Carrera Coupe, complete with its original space-saver spare tire, factory jack, factory tool kit as well as its original owner's manual and history. Superb in every way and available for immediate delivery and enjoyment."

The high price just put me off initially as I didn't consider you a serious seller.
Thanks for your honesty and transparency, I will know next time!
@Bergman If you had inquired to me, you would have received this by email or verbally...

So...It is not about what I would sell for at this point, and each automobile and deal is different. You are looking at this as if you are purchasing a pair of shoes off the shelf with a set profit margin.
I took this car on trade towards another car from my inventory. I guess I should have sold it on the previous online auction because I would have made more. That said, today, the auction winner got a wonderful 911 at a price that I really don't believe is market value, market value is more because I cannot replenish my inventory with another 911 Carrera in this 911's condition for this auction result.
Why did I sell? Because by owning this Carrera for $104k, the deal made me $50k profit (the automobile I sold and how much I owned it for is irrelevant), by now netting $85k, the profit has become, $31,000 profit.
If you are around on Saturday mornings, I am thinking of starting a class, car sales 101. I hope this helps and I guess you should have called back once again to ask if there was room in the asking price and to start a new relationship with my company.
Have a very nice evening.

Wow.. I inquired about this car directly when it was "For Sale" at the dealer. Was quoted $117,500. Wish I knew they would let it go for $32,500 less. Hopefully dealers take note and have more realistic asking prices to start. Would help buyers navigate the market.
Sold for $85,000
The reserve has been lowered, This very special 911 will be going to a new home!

@michaelp1usa Thank you very much.
Bid in the amount of $75,000
Beautiful build, worth every penny and GLWTA!
Good Morning all, I hope all is well.
@jackal0506 I do not have a receipt for the install of the clutch kit, though I have no reason to believe someone would have purchased it and not installed/ had it installed. I can say that the car drives and shifts extremely well. There is no slipping of the clutch under acceleration and there is no shutter when releasing the pedal.
@michaelp1usa That is the car, nice observation... We thought is best to list the car here on P-Car because of the high concentration of Porsche enthusiasts who would really see this car for what it is. It was not worth it for us to let go on Bring a Trailer, though we were getting close. This is such a nice example of a 911 finished in a rare and very beautiful color combination.
As previously mentioned, please use the contact seller button if you wish to arrange an in person inspection of the 911, or if you would like to send your qualified inspector to inspect the car on your behalf. We’re also available for FaceTime “virtual inspections,” as well.
Best of luck to all.

@markiemark Thanks for the compliment! The 88 turbo is a very cool car and without a doubt would be very cool to have a matching stable mate.

Needed to say that this one is a rare, well-cared-for beauty with low mileage. Not many around. Incredible car, rare color, great seller. Green light in my opinion.
That was the single greatest narration of a test drive I've ever seen. Incredible personality. And I love the car but I have a 911 I'm not yet ready to part with. Great car, great video. Cheers!

@Funracer many thanks for the back up, appreciated.
@harv666 I am sorry you are displeased with the presentation. The fact is, we do not “tart” up the automobiles we have for sale. It is the same with the automobiles we have at the dealership. If you want to know about the 911’s ownership and past history, happy to help. If you want to understand the mechanical condition, happy to help. The fact is, this 911 Carrera is a rare and elegant color combination and a 38 year old Porsche in superb condition. These auction forums and comments (no offense to PCar, I have obviously chosen them for a reason and enjoy their platform) are leaving a lot to be desired in my opinion. I have been in be automobile business for 35 years and have done quite well, I’ll listen to your two cents, why? Because of your background in dentistry? carpentry? astronomy? physics? I appreciate your comments and opinion, but they lead a lot to be desired. My way has worked, why oversell the automobile, let is speak for itself.
If you are truly interested, you are also more than welcome to come by to see and inspect it for yourself, have a Porsche specialist or a mechanic of your choice inspect it for you. Of course, that comes at a cost, even though I am the seller and I know the condition well , I hope that by selling on PCar, it will only advertise why the automobiles I offer are backed by my company’s reputation.
Have a very nice day.

@Funracer Thank you! This is an absolutely stunning car, we welcome absolutely interested anyone to come and check this car out in person and drive it. It is a fantastic example of a 911 with low mileage to boot. Thanks for your input.

If you don’t like the car don’t bid. Low miles rare colors and super easy minor things anyone with a socket set can fix. This is the new norm on these auction sites. Nit pick the car to keep the bidding in check. Beautiful 911 seller. Good luck.
@racer355 It’s all about the details. Small details make for big sales. If you can overlook actual damage to the front spoiler then what can else can be overlooked. You can’t tell me it’s about patina cuz it’s damage not wear is all I’m saying. Good luck. .
@harv666 We would be happy to assist with the install of the spoiler or arrange for dry ice blasting the underside or attention to the headliner should the winner choose.
@Bergman You got me, thank you for the compliment on the car though. The headlights are a little foggy, we were torn on keeping it for our personal collection or selling. Should the reserve not be met we were going to upgrade to the European H4 headlights. I do believe they could be cleaned by removing the bulb, filling with soapy water and letting it sit for a little bit and drying out though.
@jh986s Thank you very much.
@Ginalannucci As do we.

Love it.
Great example of a truly great. car. GLWA
Is it my eyes or are the headlight cloudy?
" We are extremely excited to present it here on Bring a Trailer for all to see and have to opportunity to win. "
Umm.. should update your blub to reflect the second try at auctioning this lovely car.
@harv666 *could have had
The front spoiler would have been cheap to change. A dry ice bath for her belly and some attention to the roof liner and you have had a massive fight over this one.
Good Afternoon Everyone, and welcome to the auction of our absolutely stunning Granite Green 1987 911. Thank you all for the compliments on our car. We are extremely excited to present it here on Bring a Trailer for all to see and have to opportunity to win. We will be here throughout the auction and are happy to answer any and all questions. It is in exceptional condition throughout and is now ready to be passed onto its next caretaker. These are such enjoyable cars to drive and are unique in that they are able to do most everything with ease and reliability – as Porsches are known for.
Please use the contact seller button if you wish to arrange an in person inspection of the 911, or would like to send your qualified inspector to inspect the car on your behalf. We’re also available for FaceTime “virtual inspections,” as well.
