Marking the launch year of the improved 5-speed G50 manual gearbox, this 1987 Porsche 911 Carrera Cabriolet is finished in Guards Red over Linen leather upholstery. It comes equipped with air conditioning, cruise control, a central locking system, 16” Fuchs forged alloy wheels, and an upgraded Porsche Classic stereo. It was sold new from Schilling Imports of Memphis and remained registered in Tennessee before being purchased by the current owner in 2019 with about 2k miles driven since. Previously listed on PCARMARKET, this classic air-cooled 911 is now being offered for auction once again out of Rhode Island with just under 45k miles on the odometer.
This 911 is finished in Guards Red (L80K) with a black convertible top and matching boot cover. Other equipment includes integrated front fog lights, heated and power-adjustable mirrors, a periscope-style brake light, and 16” Fuchs forged alloy wheels. The Michelin Pilot Sport A/S tires show date codes from 2006. Detailed images are provided in the gallery along with a clean CARFAX report.
The cabin is appointed with Linen leather upholstery complemented by matching carpets, contrasting black Porsche-branded floor mats, and a black leather four-spoke steering wheel. Other accessories include power windows, air-conditioning, cruise control, an optional central locking system, an optional elevated steering wheel hub, and an upgraded Porsche Classic radio.
An air-cooled 3.2-liter flat-six engine delivers up to 217 HP and 195 lb.-ft of torque to the rear wheels through a 5-speed G50 manual transaxle. The seller states an oil change has been recently completed along with a brake fluid flush last week.
This sale will include owner’s manuals and a clean title.

We just tested the parking brake warning light and it works as designed. The lever may have been a click away from full bottom in the video. The G50 Cab received an oil and filter change and brake fluid flush a few weeks ago.

We discussed replacing the tires with the owner (Continental Extreme Contacts would be a good option), but decided it was best to let the next owner pick their own. We have a very good tire shop nearby that carries most major brands and we'd would be happy to coordinate the installation of a fresh set of tires.
Is the brake light on in the driving video? Low fluid, or is the parking brake sensor an issue?

@qmsri I share @CurtGT3RS concerns on the tires. If the winning bidder provides the tires, do you have the facilities to mount and balance them? I wouldn't be comfortable driving it home with tires of that age.

Our understanding is that Porsches were still being painted by hand in the 80's. Search a few G50/911's auctions here on PCar or any other auction site and you'll see that overspray on the undercarriage of original paint cars.
@QMSRI Hi - great looking G50. I appreciate the paint meter readings you provided, but I noticed on pictures 149-152 that there seams to be red overspray on the bottom of the car. Can you provide any details, or am I missing something obvious? I don't recall seeing this on other original paint air cooled examples I've seen in the past. Thanks.
