The first generation of the iconic G-Class, the Mercedes-Benz W460 debuted in 1979, marking the brand's entry into the rugged off-road vehicle market. Initially developed for military use, the 240GD was also offered to civilians, showcasing its versatility and robustness. This 1987 240GD, imported from Germany by the current seller, has undergone a complete frame-off restoration. Pairing a 4-speed manual transmission and inline-four diesel engine, it features a striking blue finish over black upholstery. Showing under 64k kilometers (~40k miles) on the odometer, this classic G-Wagen is now available for auction out of Florida.
This G-Class has undergone a professional frame-off respray in blue with a black removable canvas soft top. Its boxy and angular bodywork is outfitted with pronounced fender flares, a rear-mounted spare tire, rear mudflaps, and black-finished bumpers, mirrors, and side moldings. It rides on 16” slotted wheels with Mercedes-Benz branded center caps and Rockproof Nokian tires from 2018. A hairline scratch is noted on the passenger’s side front fender, and detailed images are provided in the gallery along with photos of the restoration process.
The cabin presents plaid-patterned front seats and matching folding rear seats. Equipment includes a 4-spoke steering wheel, VDO instrumentation, a passenger-side grab handle, center console-mounted differential controls, rubber floor mats, a tool carrier behind the front seats, and a rear storage box. All gauges, electronics, and accessories are confirmed to be in proper working order.
Power is derived from a naturally aspirated 2.4-liter OM616 diesel inline-four driving all four wheels through a 4-speed manual transmission. Performance features include locking front and rear differentials and power-assisted brakes. No outstanding maintenance items have been reported.
This sale will include a clean title.
The seller would like you to know: “63,776 KM's = 39,628 original miles. Cannot duplicate this for under $100,000 USD.”
