BMW’s original M6, the E24 features an S38 inline-six engine paired with a 5-speed manual gearbox along with a unique aerodynamic package, classic basketweave wheels, larger front brakes, and a lowered sport suspension. This 1987 example is one of 1,767 to have been imported to North America throughout the entire production run and comes finished in Black over a Lotus White leather interior. Said to have been cared for by the same owner for the past 25 years and accompanied by records showing over $30k invested in maintenance, this rare first-generation M6 is now being offered for auction out of Connecticut with approximately 84k miles on the odometer.
Based on the E24 6-Series, the M6 is distinguished by a larger front air dam, rear lip spoiler, and BBS light-alloy cross-spoke wheels. This example is finished in Black with a custom pinstripe and rides on a set of Michelin TRX tires from 2019. The seller states a ceramic coating was applied throughout the exterior within the last six months and a small paint chip was touched on the right rear quarter panel, detailed images are provided in the gallery along with a clean CARFAX report.
The cabin is trimmed in Lotus White leather and includes a three-spoke M steering wheel, an M-branded tachometer, air-conditioning, power windows, rear temperature controls, and a power sunroof. Additions include a vintage Clifford alarm system, Alpine cassette stereo, and black M6 logo floormats. The original radio is said to accompany the sale and all gauges and accessories are said to be fully functional.
For the North American market, the original M6 received a 3.5-liter S38B35 inline-six DOHC engine featuring six individual throttle bodies and an output of up to 260 HP and 243 lb.-ft of torque. The rear wheels are driven through a 5-speed Getrag 280 manual transmission. The seller states a compressive collection of service records will accompany the car.
This sale will include a clean title and the original radio.

the black items in rear window are the window shade. dont know about a 1 DIN UNIT ?
As a young kid my neighbor had one. Definitely be watching this one.
@jwriggins
I believe those black items behind the speakers are for the rear sunshade to secure at the rear interior roof. They are not available OEM when I last checked, so they likely were fabricated to allow an easy pull-up along with strength.
Please identify the two black items just beneath the rear window- they are on the back deck, behind the speakers.
Also, is the non-factory radio a 1 DIN unit? Was the installation carriage alerted to install it?
Thanks
