Porsche debuted the 944 Turbo (951) in 1986 with enhancements including a turbocharged and intercooled engine, refined aerodynamics, reinforced suspension, and upgraded brakes compared to the base 944. This launch-year example comes finished in Guards Red over Black upholstery and features a sunroof, power windows, a CD-payer, power mirrors, and ABS brakes. Modified with a cat-back exhaust, a stainless-steel muffler, and a rear strut brace, this 944 is now being auctioned by its seller out of Florida showing approximately 171k miles on the odometer.
The 944 Turbo is distinguished from a standard 944 by its more rounded aerodynamic nose with an integrated bumper and driving lights as well as a body-colored diffuser below the rear bumper. This example is said to have been professionally refinished in Guards Red by Augie’s Autobody & Paint in Pompano Beach, Florida. A set of wheel spacers has been fitted along with 993 Turbo-style wheels dressed in older tires requiring replacement. Detailed images are provided in the gallery along with a clean CARFAX report.
The cabin presents black partial leather upholstery and features an optional electric sunroof. The equipment also includes power windows & door locks, power-adjustable exterior mirrors, air conditioning, and a CD player. Modifications include a rear strut brace and racing seatbelts. A tear in the passenger seat is noted.
A turbocharged and intercooled 2.5-liter inline-four engine delivers up to 220 HP and 243 lb.-ft of torque to the rear wheels by way of a 5-speed manual transaxle. The 944 Turbo features a stiffer suspension than a standard 944 and shares its fixed 4-piston Brembo brakes with the contemporary 911 Carrera. The seller adds that a cat-back exhaust system and stainless-steel muffler have been fitted, and all rubber water/air hoses have been replaced. The seller suspects previous track use and a tune.
This sale will include a clean title.
The seller would like you to know: “This is a very nice garage-kept 1986 Bright Guards Red 944 Turbo with nostalgic pop-up headlights and Bosch fog lights front bumper. I love it and have no reason to sell it, other than I've run out of space!! I’m looking for someone who loves this car and has time to drive it, I have only put 120 miles on it since purchase. Again, I love this car and so should you!”

What this car is worth based on the information available is difficult to determine and covers a very wide range. Unless a bidder can view the car in person or feels lucky, the car is unlikely to get a bid for what it is probably worth.
It is unfortunate that Augie’s Autobody & Paint in Pompano Beach did such a poor job masking the front of the engine bay.
The auction description says this car has ABS. However, ABS was not available on the 951 in 1986. ABS was introduced on the 951 in 1987.

How is this performing? Is it going to make it from Pompano to St Petersburg? Clutch ok? Brakes working. Suspension? Is it leaking anything. Burning any oil? Any idea when the belt and water pump where last done? Or how the belt looks? It's only a 30 minute flight for me into Ft Laud. Thanks!
