The 1986 model year saw the introduction of the Porsche 944 Turbo (951) which featured a new turbocharged and intercooled engine as well as improved aerodynamics, a stiffer suspension, and larger brakes than the standard 944 model. This launch-year example comes finished in Guards Red over a Black interior and was originally sold in California where it remained until 1997 when it was relocated to Chicago, Illinois. The car later spent time in Michigan and Colorado and has been driven less than 15k miles over the last 20 years. This 944 Turbo is now being offered for auction by its seller out of Colorado accompanied by service records dating back to 1989.
The 944 Turbo is distinguished from a standard 944 by its more rounded aerodynamic nose with an integrated bumper and driving lights as well as a body-colored diffuser below the rear bumper. This example is finished in Guards Red and comes equipped with chrome 16” Fuchs forged alloy wheels. Other features include pop-up headlamps with washers, an electric tilt sunroof, a “944” logo tail panel reflector, a black polyurethane rear spoiler, and black brake calipers with white Porsche lettering. The seller notes that the car was recently detailed and polished, and some minor cosmetic imperfections are present throughout the exterior as depicted in the photo gallery. A clean CARFAX report is also provided for reference.
Inside, the driver is greeted by a Black leather interior with matching carpets, headliner, and power-adjustable Sport Seats. Other accessories include a leather-wrapped four-spoke steering wheel, black floor mats with red embroidered “PORSCHE” logos, power windows and mirrors, air conditioning, cruise control, a digital clock, a locking glovebox, folding rear seatbacks, and an aftermarket Pioneer CD stereo. The seller indicates that the air conditioning system was converted to R134a refrigerant and recharged in September 2023. All gauges and accessories are said to be fully functional.
A turbocharged and intercooled 2.5-liter inline-four engine delivers up to 220 HP and 243 lb.-ft of torque to the rear wheels by way of a 5-speed manual transaxle. The 944 Turbo features a stiffer suspension than a standard 944 and shares its fixed 4-piston Brembo brakes with the contemporary 911 Carrera. The seller states that the timing belt was most recently replaced in May 2000 at approximately 53k miles along with the installation of new brake pads and rotors. Routine oil changes are said to have been carried out every 3-5k miles and service records are available dating back to 1989.
This sale will include extensive records and documentation, a toolkit, a car cover, and a clean title.

Is the paint original
@ bigcity911s, thanks for your inquiry that last comment was for you
Unfortunately, we don’t have a lift but I was able to make an under body video using a selfie stick, I admit, it’s not the best quality , but hopefully it suffices for your purposes. It should be uploaded momentarily.
@ bubbaW1948 thank you for sharing this information. I also just sent a picture of the tag inside the spare tire area and it should be uploaded to the gallery momentarily it was hard for me to determine at first, where the seats were leather and where they were vinyl, but now I can see the portions on the sides of the seat appear to be vinyl while the seat back and cushion are covered in leather for anyone who’s wondering

Were you able to find the options sticker in the spare tire well?
IL, MI and CO - any shots of the underside? Thank you
Bid in the amount of $15,500
@msobilo, I just emailed Pcar with a copy of that invoice and it should appear shortly in the photo gallery. It does not appear the clutch was replaced. I drove the car yesterday to add a few videos and there is absolutely no issue of any sort regarding the clutch.
Bid in the amount of $15,000
Was the clutch itself done in 2009 too? Or was it just the slave and master?
@msobilo I do not have a picture of the option sticker but when I get into tomorrow I’ll do some
Digging to see what I can find for you. I know the car was optioned with a moonroof, cruise control, and leather sport seats, I don’t know whether the Fuchs were a factory option or installed by a previous owner.
@GrandNatty there’s a mechanic in my complex I like and trust, Colorado Performance Specialuts, though not Porsche specific shop he does great work, could get you scheduled within a week and is priced sensibly. After replacing tb and water pump this car will provide you worry free driving and we have some incredible roads within an hours drive if Denver. We had our first snow, but nothing too serious — looks like pleasant weather for the next week or so 60s and 70s.

@cultcars - how far do you live from an AD or a great Porsche independent you trust? Would be fun to fly in and drive it home pre snow (is there snow yet there?). But 23 years since TB and WP and would want the work done pre drive.
Do you have a picture of the options sticker?

@mherf thanks for your question. I need to double check the date stamp on the tire but I believe the set is a year old and has less than a 1K miles on them. As you can see in photo #53 there is quite a bit of tread remaining.
@GrandNatty thanks for the inquiry. The interior including the dash is mint - no cracks or other flaws that I can see, no are there any mechanical issues. Feel free to PM me and I can put you in touch with the mechanic who did the AC conversion to R134 and he can give you an unbiased opinion on the car.
How old are the tires and how much tread is left on them?
@cultcars - any currently known mechanical need or defect aside from needing TB and WP.
@cultcars - any dash cracks or deformations? Can't see all dash/dash vents in photos? More detail on that please.
