Available for auction is this 1986 Porsche 944 finished in Guards Red over black. Benefitting from the 944’s mid-cycle update of 1985, this desirable 5-speed 1986 example features a redesigned interior and upgraded suspension components among other mechanical improvements. Said to have been with the same owner since 2000, this 944 is accompanied by maintenance records showing a major service to have been carried out within the last 1k miles including a timing belt and water pump replacement. Presented in its most iconic configuration, the 944 is now being offered for auction by its seller out of New York while showing just over 51k miles on the odometer.
This 944 is finished in traditional Guards Red and features a removable sunroof panel, pop-up headlights, integrated front fog lights, and a polyurethane rear spoiler. The seller believes the hood to have been previously refinished and notes several small chips throughout the exterior as detailed in the video below. Additional images and paint meter readings are also provided in the photo gallery along with a clean CARFAX report. This 944 rides on a set of classic 16” Fuchs wheels with black painted centers, polished outer lips, and colored Porsche center crests. These wheels come dressed in a set of new Hankook Ventus tires installed in May of 2021.
As part of the 1985 update, the 944 received a new interior featuring a redesigned dashboard with larger air vents, revised switches, new A/C and heating controls, and four round instrument gauges. The black interior for this example includes a power-adjustable driver's seat and an aftermarket Pioneer radio. Some wear is noted on the driver’s seat bolster and the seller recommends the A/C system be recharged.
This 944 is powered by a naturally aspirated 2.5L inline 4-cylinder engine which was updated with redesigned combustion chambers and modified cam profiles for the second phase of production. Approximately 150 HP is delivered to the rear wheels through a 5-speed manual transaxle. Some maintenance records from the previous owner are provided for reference in the photo gallery showing a major service completed in May of 2021 including a new timing belt, water pump, thermostat, and coolant flush.
This sale will include some service records and a clean title. Recently serviced and with reasonably low mileage, this 1986 example makes the perfect choice for any enthusiast in search of a vintage transaxle Porsche.

Great, thank you for the clarification.
@DiamondDealer The tire company is a local chain shop and did not enter the mileage correctly. Normally they don’t even put mileage on the receipt. I personally saw the mileage before and after the tires were installed and it 51k. The correct mileage is also shown on the major service receipt.
Looks clean
Good luck
Just a question, the ad indicates the mileage is 51k yet the tire receipt shows mileage shows 80k in and 80k out.
Could you please clarify.
Thank you
