Introduced for North America in 1983, the Porsche 928 S debuted a larger 5.0-liter V8 engine than its predecessor along with the option of a 4-speed automatic transaxle. This 1986 example is finished in Black over a matching leather interior and was acquired by the seller, its fourth owner, about four years ago. It benefits from extensive maintenance completed over the last two years including overhauls of the brakes and suspension, new seals and O-rings, engine gaskets, ignition components, and more. This thoroughly serviced 928 S is now being offered for auction by its seller out of New York.
This 928 S is finished in Black and features matching side moldings, front and rear spoilers, pop-up headlamps, headlight washers, integrated fog lights, a rear window wiper, leather mirror covers, an electric sunroof, and dual exhaust tips. The car rides on factory 16” slotted alloy wheels with colored Porsche crest center caps and Nexen tires. The seller notes the hood was refinished about five years ago, the front spoiler trim is missing, and some scratches and chips are present by the rear hatch window and front fascia. Additional images are provided in the gallery along with a clean CARFAX report.
The black leather interior includes 8-way power-adjustable front seats, power windows, a central locking system, automatic climate control, cruise control, a digital clock, and an aftermarket Continental Bluetooth stereo paired with a new 10-speaker sound system and amplifier. The seller indicates the A/C does not consistently blow cold, the driver’s power seat is inoperable, and the front window motors need to be replaced, although a set of new motors is included in the sale. The seller adds that the odometer failed approximately 4k miles ago and the car’s true mileage is unknown.
A naturally aspirated 5.0-liter DOHC V8 engine delivers up to 288 HP and 302 lb.-ft of torque to the rear wheels through a 4-speed automatic gearbox. The following service items were addressed by the seller over the past two years:
This sale will include a toolkit, a spare tire, replacement window motors, and a clean title.
The seller would like you to know: “This car is very special to me. I first saw the 928 35 years ago and it has been my dream to own one ever since. 4 years ago, I was able to achieve that dream and I have spent time fixing and replacing most of the major elements of the engine, new suspension, exhaust, and have taken care to restore the car to factory as much as possible. It is a great car mechanically, fun to drive, and very comfortable.”

I haven't had any issues with the battery. From what I was reading about it, it might need a calibration correction.
Dash gauges indicate low battery voltage with engine running, at 11 volts.
Failed viltmeter?
Should be 14 volts.

@Moose19 The carpet cover over in the trunk was changed and is dark blue.
Cabin carpets are stock black
@trophyjoe Yes it’s an S, the S4 wasn’t until later years
@Moose19 The dash is all original and has not been taken apart. All the same color black.
Looks like a really clean 928. It’s an S and not the later S4, correct?

Has the dash been apart? It looks different in several pics. Also, is there blue carpet in the rear, it also looks different in various pics. Thanks.
They have since been corrected. Thank you
Intake air tubes upside down? That hole should be inserted on the cam cover post under the tubes. Doesn’t inspire confidence in the service done here.
@VielspaßDabei sorry misprinted
it’s the original 5.0 L v8
A 4.7 liter engine? Very cleverly disguised as a 5.0 32V unit. The 5.0 32V was standard for N.A. 928s in the 1985 and 1986 model years. So has the engine block been replaced?
