One of the few U.S.-market Cabriolets configured with the rare M491 option, this “Turbo Look” Carrera features the widebody, front and rear spoilers, brakes, and suspension of the Turbo model. Finished in black over tan leather upholstery, this example was acquired by the seller approximately 10 years ago. Since then, it has reportedly been garage-stored and serviced by a certified vintage Porsche mechanic in Arizona, where it is now being offered for auction.
This 911 comes finished in its current shade of nonmetallic black with a matching convertible soft top. The M491 option equips the Carrera with wide fenders derived from the 930 Turbo along with a front spoiler and Tea Tray rear spoiler. This example rides on silver-finished 16” Fuchs wheels dressed in Bridgestone Potenza tires from 2016. Detailed images are provided in the gallery along with a CARFAX report.
Inside, the driver is situated with tan leather seats with a matching dashboard and door panels. Contrasting black leather-wrapped 4-spoke steering wheel and matching carpets are equipped. Accessories include a black leather four-spoke steering wheel, power windows and mirrors, air conditioning, a quartz clock, a locking glove box, and an aftermarket head unit. All gauges, electronics, and accessories are reported to be in working order, although odometer inaccuracies resulting in a branded tile have been recorded on the accompanying CARFAX.
Power is derived from an air-cooled 3.2L flat-six engine rated at 207 HP and 192 lb.-ft of torque. The rear wheels are driven by way of a 915 5-speed manual transmission while stopping power is handled by Turbo-derived fixed four-piston brakes and cross-drilled rotors included with the M491 package. The M491 option also equips the suspension setup from Turbo which lowers the ride height and supplies a wider track along with stiffer rear torsion bars. The seller adds that the shocks, struts, and bushings have been replaced by a certified vintage Porsche mechanic in Phoenix, Arizona, along with the completion of regular oil changes. Additionally, the vehicle is said to have been driven less than 1,000 miles during the seller's ownership, with no outstanding maintenance items reported.
This sale will include a branded title.

Can I come and see it, I'm about an hour away in Anthem?
@carchel Yeah, I thinks its an odometer issue.
@capitalllc I asked them again to post them. Let me know if not i can email them to you.
@xturbo air does work.
@xturbo Patrick just did what I showed. It was repainted before I purchased it so I dont know when exactly is was done. However the paint still looks fantastic
Bid in the amount of $25,000
Has Patrick done all the work on the car since you have owned it?
From the paint readings, it looks like parts of the car have been repainted, do you know when and/or why?
Does the AC work, I see that Patrick did some work on it?

Did the title upload? Am i missing it? Thanks
It is not unusual for a 38 year old car to have a "not actual miles" branded title. Branding for "salvage/rebuilt" is a much greater problem...
Bid in the amount of $12,226
Interesting, well that may be a bit of a different situation then. If the title is branded, its likely something happened prior to your ownership. If you have the contact to the previous owner that may be a good start at figuring it out.
@targahawk thanks for the info. It’s been so aggravating. I have no idea what happened but it’s been difficult to explain to people. the titles that I have all show brands. I did notice the milage on the sales document when I bought it listed the miles higher than I received it. I am not sure what happened but somewhere the milage was changed. Thanks again for the help
Bid in the amount of $11,911
I highly doubt the title to this vehicle is branded, especially if there are no accident or damage entries on your report. In my experience fighting this with Carfax, I have concluded two things that may lead to a report looking like this one.
1. Each state reports (or stops reporting) mileage differently based on how old the car is. When this happens and you title it or update registration, they can't verify whether the reported mileage is legit, and flag it.
2. Inconsistencies in paperwork/shop entries happen (the car is 38 years old). Any inconsistency immediately flags it
They say they have to do this, because they can no longer offer their "Buyback Guarantee" but it just hurts the owner, because most will automatically think something bad has happened to an otherwise clean car. I am not saying all old Porsche's are this way, there are branded titles out there.
If you have any sort of paperwork that can verify your mileage, and a clean title (showing no brands) submit it to Carfax. I have found with a little effort, documentation, and some kind words they will correct it.
I had a 1985 cab triple black M491 at the same time as a 1987 cab. The M491 was so much more fun to drive. It is worth more because of the body, suspension, brakes, etc and the gearbox is just fine. Mine was damn near perfect with 30,000 miles. Sold mine in 2023. . A ton of fun! Go for it!

@RGE1969 I am having pc post the pics of the titles I have.
@RGE1969 I dont believe so. I believe someone messed with the odometer somewhere down the road. Their is no history of it being in an accident
So is this a salvage title?
@eurocol I am not sure I can send photos this way but I did upload the photo of my title I have for it in Arizona. Do you have an email or number I can send you the photo of my title.
Thanks
@JohnBlackyoldtimer I did some research on the milage, In 1994 i found an oil change paperwork from another owner. At that time it had 30700 miles. I purchased it with 43k miles and it now has 46k. It was a collector car for me that I rarely drove. It runs, handles and looks fantastic. I hope this helps.
@Drwired I think I have figured out a little more about the milage on the titles. I went back through my paperwork and found an oil change service from a previous owner. On July 1994, the car had according to the paperwork, 30712 miles. When I purchased it in 2018 the sales sheet said it had 51811 miles on it. However when I recieved the car it had 46k on it. I dont know how I missed but somehow the guy who sold me it either put down the wrong miles or turned it back 5k miles. I can send you those photos of the paperwork if you would like. Thanks again
@RGE1969 I purchased it on March 30, 2018. Thanks
@RGE1969 The M491 is a factory upgrade that was ordered by the purchaser of the car. I have the certificate or Authenticity which I will have them add to the photos. Thanks
@JohnBlackyoldtimer About 45k. I hardly drove it and now it has 46482. Thanks for checking it out.
Is M491 done by factory or was it aftermarket? Thanks
@Drwired How long have you owned it?
Thanks
@RGE1969 I wish I could help you with more information but whatever happened on the title was before I owned it. I have tried researching it but was unable to find out exactly what the issue was. I believe it has something to do with the milage since thats what keeps showing up when I look into it. I wish I had better answers for you. The car runs and looks fantastic and I have never had a problem with it since I have owned it.
@dales911 Thanks for checking out my Porsche. I do have all the covers. Thanks
Do you have the full Tonneau Cover that covers the whole Interior ?
Bid in the amount of $6,911
Branded could also mean severe loss due to damage, was car a total loss by insurance company or is mileage over 145,000 or both?
Sorry not money, how many miles did the Porsche have when you bought it?
Can you tell us how much money you used to get the car? Was it just 1,000 miles less?
Can you ask the previous owner how many miles he drove and whether he can say anything about the total mileage?
It is very important whether the engine and the car has only run 46k or maybe 146k miles! Otherwise a nice, well-maintained Porsche.
Bid in the amount of $6,500
What does the title actually say on it?
Could you please post a picture of it, hiding your personal info of course,
so we can actually see what the new owner would be getting. IE no further surprises.
Normally this would be a simple TMU issue, and not require the branding of the title,
perhaps the paint readings may have something to do with it.
Many thanks,

@rbtrader Thanks for you interest in my Porsche. I wish I could help answer the title question but it was surprise to me as well. Whatever happened to the title happened before I purchased it. I am not sure what happened to the title and I have had a couple of people look into it and we were unable to find out anything. It appear it has to do with the milage but that is all I know. I wish I could be more help. Thanks
