One of the most exclusive and expensive factory options available on the 911 at the time, the M491 Turbo-look package equips the Carrera 3.2 with wider fenders, bumpers, spoilers, and wheels from the 930 Turbo along with its uprated brakes and suspension. This 1986 example is reportedly one of only 75 examples equipped with the M491 package for the model year and was delivered new at Vaughn Motor Co. of Nashville Tennessee. It is finished in Black over a Burgundy interior and features optional full leather seats, power door locks, an electric sunroof, air conditioning, cruise control, a Blaupunkt stereo, a limited-slip differential, and an upgraded Wevo shifter. Having remained in the Nashville area since delivery, this rare M491 Coupe is now being offered for auction out of Tennessee with approximately 75k miles showing on the odometer.
Designated by option code M491, the Turbo-look package includes wider fenders and bumpers from the contemporary 911 Turbo along with a front chin spoiler, a Tea Tray rear spoiler, and Turbo-spec 16” Fuchs forged alloy wheels. This example is finished in Black and equips integrated front fog lights, black stone guard decals, and an optional electric sunroof. The rear tires were replaced a few months ago and the front tires show 2023 production date codes. The seller notes that meter readings show potential paintwork on the hood and rear passenger quarter. Some signs of age are also present on the rubber window seals. Detailed images are provided in the gallery along with a clean CARFAX report.
The Burgundy interior includes optional full-leather power seats, an elevated steering wheel hub, a central locking system, cruise control, automatic heating control, air conditioning, an alarm system, a four-spoke leather steering wheel, and an upgraded Wevo shifter with a wood gear knob. A factory Blaupunkt Monterey SQR 23 stereo is paired with aftermarket Polk speakers in the doors. The seller notes some loose stitching on the steering wheel, creases near the corner of the sunroof panel, and a protruding part of the driver’s door panel near the window. The A/C compressor was replaced in 2022 and all accessories are said to be working properly
An air-cooled 3.2-liter flat-six engine delivers up to 207 HP and 192 lb.-ft of torque to the rear wheels through a 5-speed manual transaxle and an optional limited-slip differential. The M491 option includes the uprated suspension components and larger cross-drilled brakes of the 911 Turbo. The seller indicates new spark plugs have been installed and a recent compression test showed all cylinders are within spec. The brake pads were replaced in 2019 and the clutch was replaced in 2021.
This sale will include owner’s manuals, a window sticker, a spare tire, a car cover, the original shifter, and a clean title.
The seller would like you to know: “Extremely rare 1986 Porsche 911 Carrera with the factory-equipped 930 Performance Body and Chassis ($9,760.00). Porsche only made 75 911s in 1986 with this body option and only one of 31 with the LSD option. With just 74,642 miles, this 911 has spent its entire life in the Nashville area. Originally shipped to Vaughn Motor Co. at 715 Murfreesboro Rd, this 911 had an original MSRP of $48,277.00. We also put brand-new Yokohama Advan A052s on it so it's ready to tackle the backroads. It's recently had a compression test performed on it and all six cylinders are within spec. We put new spark plugs in as well.”

There were only 75 of these made. And how many left in this nice condition? Super rare car. Wish my 85 was as clean as this. Genuinely surprised this isn’t going to the moon.

I’m going to go out on a limb here and assume that $250 increments aren’t going to get it done folks. The last three turbo looks at auction all sold for over $110k.

The 491 package was about $13K in ‘86…….it seemed absurd, since you could buy a pretty decent used car for that🙁
Paint miscommunication was unfortunate, but it’s a distinct beauty.
GOOOD MORNNING PCAR! It's time to set your watches to be present for the last 2 minutes of this sale when the hammer is high and the bidding gets going! Here to answer questions this morning. Good luck!

Good afternoon PCar Market! Pictures added to the gallery of the underside of the M491 and a cold start video.

Cold Start video
@PaulEJLin for sure, we will get them on the lift and make some today.
Are you planning to post any video?.. Cold start, driving?… floor, suspension and undercarriage pictures?
@PaulEJLin Of the car was repainted, it was disassembled. No painted rubber, no over spray, no dry shot areas, no trash and no fish eyes. As stated previously, this car looks better than 95% of this era of cars. My personal 85 Carrera had a $20,000 and ai t job, this one is equal to it in quality.
It’s fine if the has been painted…i just want to know how good is the paint job…. wondow out?… stickers maskong?…over spray?
@Pdkmac paint meter readings are included in the photos. We have not owned this car its whole life so I cannot make that claim that it is all original paint. Most 911's with miles tend to garner rock chips and then the front gets resprayed. That is the life of a driven 911 car. This car has lived in Nashville, where it was sold new.
@MonarchShowroom I think there is some communication breakdown here. If you look below you’ll see he asked if the rest of car paint is original. Can we get an answer to that please? Thanks. It’s a beautiful car indeed.
@PaulEJLin The statement I made was "the paint shows better than 95% of G body cars". Its an excellent car
@MonarchShowroom 🤔 That mean 95% of this car is the original paint?
@PaulEJLin the car is also ceramic coated which shows on a paint meter. The paint shows better than 95% of G body’s you see.
Apart from the hood and passenger rear quarter panel repainted… the rest of the car is original paint?
