This European-market 1986 Porsche 911 Carrera Coupe has been transformed with 993 Turbo-style bodywork finished in Guards Red. The black interior received updated 993 components while the brakes and suspension have been upgraded as well. It was acquired from a collector in Maine and has since been serviced in preparation for sale. Showing approximately 52k miles on the odometer, this Porsche 993 Turbo tribute is now being offered for auction out of Virginia.
This Carrera was outfitted with full 993 Turbo style bodywork including wider fenders and rocker panels as well as front and rear bumpers, a hood, mirrors, lights, badging, and a body-colored rear spoiler. The exterior is finished in Guards Red and the car rides on a set of 18” 996 Turbo wheels with Turbo logo center caps and Continental tires.
The black leather interior includes an updated 993 center console and shifter as well as an aftermarket Dino three-spoke steering wheel, upgraded speakers, and white-faced instrument dials. The seller reports all gauges and accessories to be fully functional.
This 1986 Carrera retains its air-cooled 3.2-liter flat-six engine paired with a 5-speed 915 manual gearbox, sending as much as 207 HP and 192 lb.-ft of torque to the rear wheels. The seller states upgraded suspension and braking components have been installed including red-painted 930 front calipers and cross-drilled rotors. The seller reports an oil service was also recently completed in preparation for the next owner.
This sale will include a clean title.

@edgy4sure while driving it works sometimes and sometimes not, the wiring just maybe loose or something I don’t know I’m not a mechanic I haven’t really checked, but I don’t really even look at it anyway, but it does work sometimes and then sometimes it does not
@prmnorton1 it works intermittently? or works when engine is running and does not work when turned off (normal)?

@AlexBert @AlexBert OK I’ll get as many pictures as I can. I’m not sure what some of those things are but I’ll just take pictures of the front headlights, the front trunk and the rear bumper, it’s a 993 turbo widebody, and I’m not sure about the heat shields.

Bid in the amount of $10,250
@prmnorton1 Hi, would like to see some pics of: Where and how those 993 head lights hold to the inner rail of the front trunk, also pics of the inner front latch panel, and the rear inner rail panel (with gutter) at both rear corners.Angle on 993 rear quarters at rear latch panel are much different than a G body. Also ,is there any heat shield installed on the rear bumper? No mention if it is a OEM 993 deck lid or not.
Bid in the amount of $10,000
@prmnorton1 Thank you for confirming
@stupendous thanks, absolutely no rust, no leaks anywhere either
Great looking car. Is there rust anywhere? I realize that the bodies were galvanized at this point, but being an east coast car, it always pays to ask. Thanks!
Bid in the amount of $7,000
Cool car! Glws
@Flsupraguy I’m sure I have something, you can get them at any auto parts store or order online
@prmnorton1 do you have the belt?
@Flsupraguy yes the cruise control works and that’s correct you’ll need to put the ac belt on
@Flsupraguy the brakes and suspension are from a 1986 930 turbo, no yo can drive it cross country and back no problem, it can be a daily driver
@prmnorton1 thanks. An you pleaae post the service?
@prmnorton1 so since the ac belt is off right now then the ac is currently not working?
Can you please elaborate on the upgrades on the brakes and the suspension? Would it be too risky to drive this 1000 miles home? Does the cruise control still work?
@Another911 thanks for the comments, yeah I’ve had a bunch of cars like this. This one is one of the best ones I’ve ever had. I was blown away when I got it. You can look at the first picture. All the lines are pretty clean and tight including front trunk, the latch works as well which doesn’t on a lot of these I’ve had , it’s really an amazing example. I did not know the difference honestly, somebody definitely put a lot of time and money into this one making it look the way it does it’s beautiful, I haven’t had it too long but the car does run and drive great , looks amazing, suspension feels good all-around awesome car in my opinion
This will be a fun auction to watch. The purists will pick up on the surgical imperfections of 993 transformation to reinforce their disdain for the car. Then, there are those that have always wanted 993, seeing this as a possible affordable opportunity. Finally, there is a big group of enthusiast hoping this could be their affordable, almost-blank, canvas to build their dream 911. Who will step up, and how much will the bargain hunters be willing to pay? GLWA!!!
@prmnorton1 I also have a front hood seal I need to put back on
@Nycexec212 pictures number nine and on are with the trunk partially open, the few first lead pictures in the front trunk is closed. You can see the difference if you look at the pictures carefully.
@prmnorton1 in the video i see the same large gap maybe take a new picture and post it
@Nycexec212 I was actually gonna comment on that, they left the hood open during some of the pictures, the video I posted you can see the hood is close. And the lead pics it’s closed, Those photographers are not the best they’re not Car guy’s lol
Is the hood open or is that just a large body gap?
@BoxsterGT the whole body is steel, I think the bumpers are fiberglass, same as a original 993
What 993 parts added are steel and what parts are fiberglass copies?
Makes a huge difference in value.
@details it works on and off yes
Can you confirm whether the oil pressure gauge works? It doesn't appear to in the video. Thanks.
@Tgilbert the AC does work, it is hooked up. There is no belt on the AC pump in the back, and it does not have power steering.
What is the status on the AC and Power Steering?
Got it, thank you for clarifying. Best regards.
@avonwaldow it is not a 993. It is a 1986 carrera with a 993 bodykit.... read the description....
Greetings: This is a 993. So I am assuming that the model year is 1996, not 1986 as stated. Is this correct? Thank you.
@Flsupraguy i’ve had the car for a little bit of time now. Yes I’ll post the service I did on it.
@glenlucero you can direct message me with any specific questions
The Carfax detailed history only reflects registration was renewed 09/15/2022
When did you acquire the vehicle? Can you please upload all maintenance records you have?
Very nice...
very interested. contact me
Bid in the amount of $5,000
@Flsupraguy it is the 915 gearbox it just has the 993 shifter on their,, I do have the face plate for the stereo, and no, there are actually no oil leaks very dry underneath, very nice good running car
@Flsupraguy , as far as the records, I did just do a service on the car buy I bought the car like this from the original owner, as far as the brakes and suspension. The owner is the one that did all the work on it. He had a 1987 turbo and he just put the suspension and the brakes on this one.
Also, 6 speed knob on the car but it is a 915 5 speed? Do you still have the stereo faceplate? Any oil leaks at all?
Can you please provide records for the body shop that did the conversion? Also, can you please elaborate the details on the "the brakes and suspension have been upgraded "? Thanks.
Bid in the amount of $250
Nice car. Glws
