Now up for auction is this custom 1986 Porsche 911 Carrera backdate finished in Irish Green.  Initiated about one year ago, this recently completed backdate project began with a 1986 Porsche 911 Carrera Coupe and included a long hood conversion, RS-style bumpers, a sunroof delete, fender flares, a complete glass-out repaint, and a full rebuild of the original engine to a 3.4L displacement.  The interior was also entirely redone with new leather seats, carpeting, headliner, and a new A/C system.  With just over 100 miles traveled since the completion of the build, this beautifully executed 911 backdate is now being offered for auction by its creators out of Florida.

Beginning with a Guards Red coupe free of any signs of damage or rust, this 911 was fully disassembled and refinished in the classic Porsche color of Irish Green by Spies Hecker.  The seller notes that the underbody was also resprayed during this time and that all rubber seals were replaced.  The sunroof has been removed and replaced with a solid steel panel and the car has been fitted with flared fenders, an early-style long hood, black horn grilles, Carrera RS-style fiberglass bumpers, new emblems, Porsche side graphics, and European-style taillights, indicators, and yellow headlamps. Additional images are provided in the photo gallery along with a clean CARFAX report.  This 911 rides on factory 16” Fuchs wheels measuring 8” wide in front and 9” wide in the rear.  These wheels feature colored center crests, polished outer lips, and come dressed in Toyo Proxes tires.

Inside, the cabin has been completely redone with all new carpeting, headliner, insulation, RS-style door panels, and new leather seats from GTS Classics upholstered in green leather with plaid centers and deviated stitching. Other features include a new retro-style dashboard, new gauges, new A/C vents, aluminum floorboards, a 917-style wooden shift knob, and a MOMO Prototipo steering wheel with Porsche crested horn button.  A new A/C system was installed and paired with a Porsche 997 radiator and fan located in the left front bumper.  A new wireless sound system was also integrated beneath the passenger seat along with a USB connector and charging port beneath the dashboard.

The original flat-six engine in this Carrera was fully rebuilt and upgraded to a 3.4L displacement along with the installation of a twin-plug ignition system, 993 Turbo head studs, an RSR distributor, Porsche 993 camshafts, crankshaft, and connecting rods, and Clewett Engineering high-performance spark plug wires.  The original 5-speed 915 manual gearbox was rebuilt with a new slave cylinder, synchros, case components, and gaskets.  The braking system was completely overhauled and fitted with stainless steel hoses.  New axle boots were installed as well.  Just over 100 miles have been covered since the completion of the build and the car is said to be in strong running order for its next owner.

This sale will include a clean title.  Offering impressive performance and early long hood styling, this freshly completed 1986 Carrera backdate is an air-cooled enthusiast’s dream come true.
