Available for auction is this 1986 Mercedes-Benz W201 190E 2.3 finished in Anthracite Grey Metallic (172U) over a Grey MB-Tex interior. Renowned for its robust build quality, timeless design, and racing pedigree, the W201 series remains a favorite among Mercedes-Benz enthusiasts. This 1986 example is reported to have spent its life under the care of its original owner and comes factory equipped with a rare 5-speed manual transmission paired with its 2.3L 8-valve inline 4-cylinder engine. Benefitting from some recent refurbishment, this 190E is now being offered for auction by its seller out of Connecticut while showing approximately 66k miles on the odometer.
Designed by Bruno Sacco, the W201 debuted at the 1982 Paris Motor show and utilized lightweight high-strength steel in its construction for improved safety while maintaining a relatively low curb weight. This example comes finished in Anthracite Grey Metallic (172U) and is said to exhibit flaws commensurate with age and normal road wear. The original Mercedes hood ornament was replaced with a badge, and the car rides on a set of 15” Gullideckel wheels dressed in Goodyear Assurance tires from 2012. Detailed images can be found in the gallery along with a clean CARFAX report.
Inside, durable Grey MB-Tex vinyl upholstery is accented by Zebrano wood veneers. Amenities include power windows, air conditioning, a Becker Grand Prix AM/FM radio, and a sunroof. The seller confirms that all gauges and accessories remain functional.
Power comes from an M102 2.3L 8-valve inline 4-cylinder engine, which drives the rear wheels by way of a rarely seen 5-speed manual transmission. The CARFAX report includes 32 service history records dating back as far as the year 2000, and most recently the seller states that the car received new hood insulation, floor mats, and shift boot courtesy of Automotive Restorations Inc.
This sale will include the owner’s manuals, a first aid kit, a spare tire, and a clean title.

@Marine_Blue The AC is nice and cold!
We do not have supplemental documentation on top of the CarFAX at this time.
Thank you for the paint meter readings and response.
Other than the carfax are there any maintenance records available? Carfax only shows oil changes performed a few times in the past 10 years, no record of plugs, wires, coolant, transmission fluid or brake fluid. Also does the Air Conditioning Blow Cold?

@Marine_Blue Thank you for your questions. We've added paint meter readings to the listing. The most recent service work was done by us here at Automotive Restorations, Inc. We replaced the hood insulation, the shift boot, and the floor mats. We do not have documentation/receipts showing a clutch replacement.
In recent months, the 190E traveled from New Hampshire down to Connecticut under it's own power and performed like a top, as a proper W201 should! The clutch engagement is great and does not slip in any gear. Hope that this helps.
Additional content has been added to the gallery for this listing.
Can you confirm if the car has been repainted and or if its original paint? It’s noted that a mechanical refurbishment has been done recently, can you confirm exactly what was performed. Also was the clutch ever replaced?
