This 1986 Land Rover Defender 90 is said to have been subject to a nut-and-bolt restoration in Verona, Italy, including the installation of new body panels, a repaint in Grasmere Green, a reupholstered black leather interior, a new tan soft top, refinished steel wheels, new disc brakes, and new suspension components. Imported by the seller into the United States and titled in New York in August of 2022, this Defender has since received a replacement 200TDi inline four-cylinder engine mated to an L77 5-speed manual transmission. Showing approximately 171,740 km (106,715 miles) this 1986 Defender 90 is now being offered at auction by its seller out of Massachusetts.
This Defender was restored with all-new body panels and painted Grasmere Green (2207). Equipment includes steel bumpers, a rear step, mudflaps, a hood-mounted spare tire, a fold-down windscreen, and a black front grille with black headlight bezels. New 16” steel wheels were added during the restoration which are finished in matching Grasmere Green and mounted with Michelin XZL tires.
The interior features two front bucket seats and inward-facing folding rear seats reupholstered in black leather with matching door panels. Amenities include a heater, a center console storage cubby with integrated cupholders, and a replacement four-spoke Land Rover steering wheel.
This Defender 90 is powered by a replacement 2.5-liter 200TDi turbodiesel inline four-cylinder engine, generating up to 109 HP and 255 lb.-ft of torque. All four wheels are driven by a 5-speed LT77 manual transmission, a dual-range transfer case, and a locking center differential. The seller reports that disc brakes were installed at all four corners, as well as new suspension components. The seller also notes that an oil service was completed in May of 2022.
This sale will include a clean New York title.

@ionyota thank you for your question. Yes, 300TDI turbos bolt straight on, and are ‘slightly’ better.
Did they use a 300 tdi turbo on this engine? That’s not a 200 tdi turbo

I love this thing. These early Land Rovers are spectacular. They last forever.
And wherever it is that you're driving, it looks absolutely beautiful.
