Equipped with a 5.0-liter V8 engine paired with a rare 5-speed manual transaxle, this Guards Red 1985 Porsche 928 S was acquired by the seller from the original owner’s family in 2022 and has since undergone considerable maintenance. A lifelong West Coast car, this 928 S is now being offered for auction out of Washington with approximately 67k miles on the odometer.
This 928 S is finished in Guards Red with black polyurethane front and rear spoilers, tinted windows, and aftermarket LED headlights. Other equipment includes an electric sunroof, headlights washers, integrated front fog lights, a rear window wiper, and 19” Porsche 997 Carrera S wheels. New tires were mounted in October 2022 and the original 16” chrome wheels are said to accompany the sale as well. The exterior is noted to be in good condition with only two minor dings, additional images are provided in the gallery along with a clean CARFAX report.
The black leather interior has been outfitted with a matching carpet dashboard cover, new Focal speakers, and an aftermarket touchscreen head unit featuring Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity. Other equipment includes power windows, seats, door locks, automatic climate control, cruise control, and a heated rear window. All gauges and accessories are said to remain fully functional.
Up to 288 HP and 302 lb.-ft of torque are sent to the rear wheels from a 5.0-liter V8 DOHC engine paired with a 5-speed manual transaxle. Since acquiring the car in 2022, the seller had the A/C system completely overhauled and upgraded along with the installation of a new aluminum radiator. The timing belt was also inspected during this time and deemed not necessary to replace.
This sale will include some documentation, a toolkit, and a clean title.

What's behind the touchscreen ? Can it be easily removed
Does the Clifford security work
@Mini944 front bumper is in great shape
How is the front bumper area in terms of paint/stones nicks you mentioned it was your daily driver
You mentioned you had service record and the belt was just looked at, Do you know when the timing belt was done last? Also do you have the original window sticker or a list of the options (if not can you post a pic of the options tag located in the spare tire are)? Thanks Sam
Where are the two dings and can they put a picture up of them
@Crumbs cold start video without music has been uploaded.
@Crumbs 1. picture 53: can you explain the rear center arm rest damage? Is it lifting, is the whole top loose? I just went outside and checked it and the glue is loose so the leather should be glued down again. There is no warping, shrinking, or damage of any sort on it. I will fix that before it ships.
2. picture 32: what is the device to the left of the steering wheel? It has an old Clifford alarm keypad from the 80s.
3. Is there a drivers floor mat? it seems absent from the photos. No, it didn’t have one when I bought the car, just the stock carpet.
4. has the car been lifted improperly and caused framerail lift? No
5. rust in the underbody or elsewhere? None at all
6. does the sunroof leak? No
7. does the rear glass leak? No
8. is any of the glass delaminating? No, and I forgot to mention it has brand new ceramic tint all the way around.
9. does it have trouble starting warm? No
10. paint warn off any of the button markers? The drivers window is in perfect shape, but the sunroof switch, rear wiper, switch, and passenger window switch all have the white ink worn off but the black is still in great shape. All other buttons are fine.
11. any known issues? Non
12. which pictures document the 2 "blemishes" noted? You would have to look on the driver side door beneath the handle and driver side quarter panel in front of the wheel. Both smaller than a dime.

Any videos of it running, starting without music?

@porsche_dreamer I believe it is and was told by the previous owner that it was but because I have not put it under a meter… I can’t say it is first hand.
Bid in the amount of $7,750
@JackDeSoto Would you happen to know whether the car is of original factory paint?
@porsche_dreamer I do not
Hi, do you have paint meter readings?
@1991928gt on eBay they are listed as AUXBEAM DOT 7"Inch Round LED Headlights DRL Lamp
@1991928gt no, I didn’t have a leak down test nor a compression test done because the car runs absolutely perfect. I understand the question but I had the privilege of buying it in person.
@Callwaycary1 passenger side of the car is perfect, just uploaded a photo
and recent leak down and/or compression test results by an independent mechanic ?
Bid in the amount of $7,500
@Callwaycary1 I'd love to bid on your car, I'm just waiting for that picture of the passenger side with the sun facing it to be posted. All of the images of the passenger side are shaded or at an angle. Thanks!

@jhyman I don’t have the original window sticker and I’m not the original owner, so I only can assume that it’s numbers matching. There’s nothing at all to indicate that it’s not!
Bid in the amount of $2,000
Is it all matching numbers? Do you have the original window sticker ?
@Sok I had it checked in August and was told it did not need to be done. I was told this was a Porsche specialist shop.
Please post a straight-on picture of the full passenger side of the car with the sun facing it. Beautiful car!
Great looking 28………and you can properly finish and install the man hole covers…..the lobsters aren’t bad, but it’ll be perfection with the original wheels it was born with.
Do you know when the timing belt was last changed?
@needanothercar I don’t know the history on the shocks or ball joints, all I can say is that it rides really well but I’m by no means a 928 expert. Yes the touch screen supports navigation through your Apply or Android device.
Bid in the amount of $1,750
How are shocks? Ball joint replaced? I am not familar with the touchscreen, does it support navigation? Beautiful car. The carfax states 12 detailed records, is it possible to review these records?
@1991928gt the car is my DAILY driver and runs PERFECT. Yes, I can post a video of it driving. How fast would you like to see it go?
@1991928gt not sure, something I found on eBay but they work GREAT! Still prefer the stock look but not by a huge margine.
@Dj no, when I bought the car it had a pioneer head unit in it.
what kind of headlight bulbs are those?
Can you post of the car going thru all the gears? Why just a slow speed video? are any of the gear syncros bad?
Seller do you have the factory radio and any trim that was removed?
could you specify where the two cosmetic dings are and perhaps point them out in photos

@Rico914 it coved because this past summer was brutal and I wanted to keep it as it is. Also, I have pics of lights up with both set of headlights, the originals and what’s in there now. It will come with both but 80’s headlights don’t cast enough light although I prefer the original look better. More pics to come!
Beautiful car.
Thanks @JackDeSoto. That dash looks just fine! Why is it covered? Or...does it look so good because it's been covered? Also, can you post pics with the headlights up? And, will you be posting some of the underside?
Additional content has been added to the gallery for this listing.
@buccicone it rides great and I have not had any rubbing under any circumstance. The car also comes with a set of stock, chrome wheels with new tires, I just posted pics.
@Rico914 I pulled the dash cover off and took more pictures today so they will be posted soon.
The one shot of the dash under that carpet doesn't look bad. What about the rest of it? That cover is awful!
I’m not sure the 19” wheels are the proper choice for any year 928. I had them on a ‘88 and they would rub the wheel lips under certain conditions. They also road rather harshly because of the low profile tires. I loved the way they looked ( as on this example and kept them. The new owner also kept them after I sold it. GLWTA.
