Originally produced in RoW specification for the German market, this 1985 Porsche 911 Carrera Cabriolet came factory finished in Guards Red over Can-Can Red leather upholstery. The Porsche Production Specifications Certificate shows the rare M491 Turbo Look option and a Slant Nose body conversion from Porsche’s Sonderwunsch (Special Wishes) program. This 911 was imported to Florida in 1986, registered in Hawaii from 2003 until 2010, and relocated between several other states before the seller’s purchase in 2021. Accompanied by a certificate and letter of authentication from Porsche, this rare factory Carrera Slant Nose is now being offered for auction out of Connecticut.
Finished in Guards Red, the car’s bodywork features the M491 Turbo Look option, which adds the wider fenders and rear spoiler of the contemporary 930 Turbo. It was further customized through Porsche’s Sonderwunsch-Programm with a Slant Nose body conversion including louvered front fenders, pop-up headlamps, boxed rocker panels, straked side air intakes, and a front valence with a center-mounted oil cooler. The car is also equipped with a manually-operated black convertible top, a matching tonneau cover, RoW-specification bumperettes and side marker lights, headlamp washers, integrated fog lights, and staggered-width 16” Fuchs forged alloy wheels. New Continental Extreme Contact DWs06 Plus tires were installed in preparation for the sale. The owner notes the convertible top may have been replaced at some point, and the paint remains in excellent overall condition given the car’s age. Detailed images are provided in the gallery along with a clean CARFAX report.
The cabin features Can-Can Red leather upholstery with matching carpets, a black leather dashboard, and optional black seat piping. Accessories include a black leather four-spoke steering wheel, power-adjustable front seats, power windows, air conditioning, an alarm system, and a Blaupunkt Monterey SQR 23 cassette stereo. Some light cracks and signs of wear are present on the seats, and the seller notes the radio is inoperable.
The RoW-specification 3.2-liter M930/20 flat-six engine delivers a factory-rated output of 231 HP and 209 lb-ft of torque to the rear wheels through a Type 915 5-speed manual transaxle. The seller indicates the fuel pump was replaced in 2021, the right rear wheel bearing and brake fluid were changed in 2022, and a valve adjustment was performed along with new valve cover gaskets installed in 2023.
This sale will include a Porsche Production Specifications Certificate, a Porsche Certificate of Authenticity, an authentication letter, a toolkit, a spare tire, original sales literature, and a clean title.

@skylane9 I do not have a paint shop. I had my guys take those pictures so you can see all the imperfections. You can not see the rash unless you are under the car. I chose to leave it. Ifs an easy repair to have it blended.
@Patsey77, do you have someone that can make the spoiler rash go away?
Bid in the amount of $85,000

@Dozer I believe the paint is original. The photos I added are from readings I requested from Porsche Monterey. They are consistent except for the areas that were reworked at the exclusive Garage. The car was built as a 491 Turbo look option. The slant nose, side sill panels, and Air Intake Slats were ordered and done through the Sonderwunsch program after the car was built. This was part of the second Generation of slant nose cars. Those areas measure higher from being reworked. Short answer is yes I think the paint is considered original.

@Patsey77 thanks… just want to be sure to be in the hunt at the end
@DonWsail Great question! I will confirm on Monday morning or earlier if I can get a hold of PCAR. I would assume early afternoon. Thank you for the bids! I think I had mentioned earlier that I had been looking for a 505 option car when I came across this car in 2020. At first I was confused being a Carrera and not a Turbo. After I purchased it found out how really rare this car is. Only a handful of Carreras were built in a short run of these special order cars. This build in this color is probably a 1 of 1.
Patsey77…. What’s the ending time ?

If anybody wants to see the car in person I am available to meet at my storage building in Glastonbury Ct.
@terra, if you are a dealer you know when the speedo has been changed out without any documentation it's a TMU, as Patsey77 the seller said "use your good judgement" sound advice, as a dealer I agree.
@Terra I do, being 40 years old it shows its age in some areas. I had PCAR send a photographer and they did the photo layout for me. They pretty much show all the areas that are showing age or wear. The rash on the front lip spoiler is my bad. A curb and steep driveway. As I mentioned in an earlier comment the carfax shows 2,600 miles in 1990. Both owners who had possession of the car before I did were collectors one being a car dealer also. During my ownership we put 1,000 miles on the car. Since I purchased the car at the end of 2020, I had the exterior detailed. The undercarriage, trunk, and engine are as when I bought it.
As a dealer, given your observations of the engine bay, interior and undercarriage, does it appear that the mileage shown is defendable?
@skylane9 great question. I do not have any documentation showing an odometer change. The carfax report shows the vehicle was declared to meet US specifications on 10/86 and the first recorded mileage of 2,600 miles on 12/90. I purchased the car with 11,123 miles from Porsche Monterey. Being a licensed dealer I will sell the car True Milage Unknown. Use your good judgement with the milage. I will take this into consideration with my reserve. I apologize for not having a better answer.
Hi everyone, I have been the caretaker of this vehicle with the current owner. The black material that is applied appears to be a form of hardened undercoating used only in the wheel wells, most likely to protect from stone chips.
Why all the black paint in the wheel wells, shocks, and brakes, etc.
Explanation would be appreciated.
Question: originally produced in RoW specification for the German market but speedometer is in MPH now, when did whoever changed it out?
Nice!
‘’Welcome, PCARMARKET friends and bidders! Up for auction is my exceptionally rare 1985 Carrera Slantnose Cabriolet, built by Porsche through its Sonderwunsch program. In 2020, I decided I wanted a SlantnoseCabriolet and stumbled upon this car at Porsche Monterey. Not knowing the history of the Slantnose, I was puzzled to find it was a non-Turbo model. I believe this is one of a handful of Carreras built during the second generation of 204 Slantnose cars. A point of interest: a photo of this car was published in the 1986 Sonderwunsch brochure. I am offering this vehicle through my Volkswagen dealership, but it comes from my private collection. I’ll be available to answer questions throughout the auction.
If you like red, this is the car for you! WOW~ Nothing beats the slant nose IMHO! GLWTA-
