Introduced in 1984, the Carrera 3.2 marked the final evolution of Porsche's original 911 series and remains an iconic sports car of the 1980s. This 1985 Porsche 911 Carrera Cabriolet is finished in Ruby Red Metallic over tan leather upholstery and equips Sport Seats, 16” Fuchs wheels, air conditioning, cruise control, and a 5-speed 915 manual transaxle. Showing approximately 254k miles on the odometer, this example is now being offered for auction by its seller out of Florida.
This Cabriolet was factory-specified in Ruby Red Metallic and features a black replacement soft top installed under prior ownership. Equipment includes front fog lights, headlamp washers, a Porsche-branded rear reflector, and staggered-width 16” Fuchs wheels with black-painted centers and polished outer lips. The car rides on like-new Continental tires from 2023. Detailed images are provided in the gallery along with a clean CARFAX report.
The tan partial leather interior features optional Sport Seats, contrasted with a black dashboard and door tops. Accessories include a leather-wrapped four-spoke steering wheel, power windows and mirrors, air conditioning, cruise control, a front speaker, and an alarm system. The cabin is reported to be in exceptional condition, and all electronics have been confirmed to be in working order.
Power is derived from an air-cooled 3.2-liter flat-six engine, factory-rated at 207 HP and 192 lb-ft of torque, paired with a 5-speed manual transmission driving the rear wheels. The seller notes that the fuel system was purged and the oil, fuel, and air filters were replaced. Additional maintenance includes new spark plugs, brakes, rotors, and various suspension components.
This sale will include a clean title, owner’s manuals, a toolkit, and a spare tire.
The seller would like you to know: “Thank you for visiting my auction. I'm a 356 Registry Member and a PCA member. I hope this car goes to a good home. Feel free to ask questions. I have purchased a 1992 911 Turbo, so no room for additional cars at my age. The maintenance is up to date, and the prior owner installed a new top. This is a no-excuses 1985 911. The car is completely stock with a brand-new set of tires installed last year. The Fuel system was purged, and all filters —oil, fuel, and air—were replaced. Also, plugs, brakes, rotors, and suspension parts were replaced."

@CARchitects Thank you - The respray was done professionally, the front windshield rubber was not removed, so a very small piece of the lip touching the paint is noticeable if you put your nose on the rubber. There is zero rust anywhere, if you study all the pictures from the doors - front and rear hoods, under the wheel wheels, the car was very well taken care of, this 911 is a 5 on a 1 -5 scale ---Body ---Paint ---Interior ---Engine ---Transmission living in Florida A/C is a must --- she blows cool as we've been at !00 plus daily over the past couple of weeks, no leaks or seepage and the top is manual (best) to as the cost to take care of the other top makes you crazy with $$$$ of repairs. Thank you
Gorgeous color combo. How is the paint quality especially around the rubber seals, trims and windows? Were seals/trims removed/replaced at that time? Doesn’t look like it but any rust areas in the paintwork? AC blows cold (I’m in SoFl as well)? Any leaks or seepage noted? Is the top manual or power operated? Thank you!
@79Alfetta - Thank you for your information on the ROW cars, from the paperwork it appears that the F may have turned out to be an E - all the California DMV paperwork from 1985 - 2024 shows 1985 car date unfortunately between EPA paperwork and other paperwork it's an Ellis Island (Terminal Island) CA guessing game. Thank you again for sharing your knowledge on the ROW world.
@jbauto Thank you -
@Stanlution - Great Question - after the purchase of my 85 our close friends decided to sell their 92 Turbo, my wife and I decided to buy the Turbo and sell the 85, the best way to find a qualified buyer would be either PCar or the other guys, Title wise the 85 sat in my enclosed garage thus no need for a title change until the 85 hit the PCar Market --- I drove it in our community 2 - 3 times a week keeping it exercised until sold.
Paint - The gentleman that put quite a few dollars in getting it back in shape did a respray (Professional) along
with the Engine - Transmission and a list of other items to bring it back to its glory days.
Suspension - I was told the shocks - rotors - brakes were replaced,
Finally - The gentleman that invested quite a few dollars to bring the car back to its glory days passed, he may have had medical health issues or other issues that visit you once you his your 60s - 70s - 80s, I'm sure his wife was in mourning after his death and decided to keep the car as having him or his memory in the garage.
I hope I've cleared up some of the questions for you.
Yeah, E is '84. Good looking car. GL
Not that it matters but this is a 1984, not a 1985. The steering wheel and no windshield antenna mark the it as an 84. More importantly, the VIN should have an "F" not an "E" before the last 7 digits.
I have an 85 ROW cab and I am envious of the German manual and green first aid kit. It should also have a red warning triangle and an orange compressor.
These are wonderful cars to drive BTW and this car looks to be a good buy even with the miles. The extra 24 HP and lower gearing (in 1st and 2nd) make this car feel much quicker than a G50. Do not be put off by the ROW model. It is true the quality of the conversion work varied by the importer but the changes usually do not affect reliability or driveability. The California plates are a real bonus as there were some delays getting mine registered in California as I bought it out-of-state.
Bid in the amount of $5,000
I’ll make a few assumptions here—this seems like a bit of a barn find driver. Engine was rebuilt around 247k miles in 1998 and the car was only occasionally driven until 2010. Most likely sat for last 15 or so years. With just under 254k miles now, that motor is barely broken in.
A few questions:
• The Carfax doesn’t show a new Florida title—was there only one previous owner before your ownership, is it titled in your name?
• Do you believe the paint is all original, or has any of it been resprayed?
• What suspension components been replaced during your ownership? Thanks
