This modified RS-inspired 1985 Porsche 911 Carrera Coupe is finished in Iris Blue Metallic over a black, brown, and blue vinyl interior with custom Pepita cloth seat centers. Powered by a 3.2-liter flat-six mated to a 5-speed manual transaxle, it features an aftermarket exhaust system, an IROC-style front bumper, a ducktail spoiler, 911R-style taillights, a three-spoke OMP steering wheel, RS-style door panels, aluminum pedals, a billet shift knob, a roll bar, and 16” Group 4 PAG alloy wheels. The car joined the current owner's air-cooled Porsche collection in 2024 and was fitted with an updated under-dash air conditioning system. This tastefully modified Carrera is now being offered for auction out of Georgia with approximately 112k miles showing on the odometer.

The exterior is finished in Iris Blue Metallic (S3) and has been modified with an IROC-style front bumper, an RS-style ducktail rear spoiler, a fiberglass RS-style rear bumper, and silver RS-style Carrera script side stripes. Other equipment includes European H4 headlamps, chrome headlight rings, dual mirrors, an electric sunroof, and 16” Group 4 PAG alloy wheels dressed in Continental ExtremeContact DWS 06 Plus tires from 2020. The seller believes the hood was previously refinished, and some paint variations are noted on the aftermarket bumpers compared to the bodywork. Detailed images are provided in the gallery.

The cabin features a blue, black, and brown color scheme with custom Pepita cloth seat centers. The rear seats have been removed, and a roll bar was fitted in their place. Other modifications include an Alcantara-wrapped three-spoke OMP steering wheel, RS-style door panels with red pull straps, a billet shift knob and handbrake lever, aluminum pedal covers, aluminum door sill trim, and a fire extinguisher. The driver is provided with power windows, a heater, and an under-dash air conditioning system.

This 911 Carrera is equipped with an air-cooled 3.2-liter flat-six engine factory-rated at 207 HP and 192 lb-ft of torque. The rear wheels are driven through a 5-speed Type 915 manual transaxle. The seller indicates that an aftermarket exhaust system is installed, the engine oil and transmission fluid were recently changed, and the air conditioning system has been overhauled.

This sale will include a car cover and a Georgia registration.

The seller would like you to know: “This is a well-done, driver-quality RS tribute car. The car runs strong, the transmission shifts great, amazing sound, and a car you will be proud to own and drive. Amazing on the twisties and does everything it is supposed to. Look, Handling and sound is even better than original in my opinion.”

This is an amazing build! I have driven this car in and around southern Georgia and it was an absolute pleasure. Plus with newly installed ICE cold air-conditioning now, what a rarity! GLWS!

  • jfrazar (registered bidder) 1 month, 4 weeksago

Mr. Stanberry called me asked for me to comment on the AC and Heat situation with the car.
Let me introduce myself, I am Joe Frazar the owner of JFrazar Sportscar Services in Savannah. Mr. Stanberry purchased this car from one of my clients. When my first client purchased the car, we both knew the car did not have any type of climate control on the car.
The AC system was done as an experiment that worked better than expected. As you know in Savannah the heat and humidity makes enjoying classic cars in the summer almost impossible. We have built ac systems for a lot of older European cars. The recipe for this car is a 964 condenser under the left front headlight with a 10 inch electric fan, OE compressor mount with a Sanden 508 Compressor, Under dash ac blower asym, custom built hoses with standard O-ring fittings. What has resulted is excellent cabin cooling with a blower temp of 45 degrees. I know the under dash unit is probably a little unsightly but it works very very well. Temp, Air Volume and efficiency are the best I have ever seen on a air cooled 911.
To make the heat work: you would need to add the heater defrost flap boxes in the front trunk compartment and either run the early 911 heat exchanger hot air feed system or add the engine compartment blower of a regular 3.2. The car still has heat exchangers and the control flaps in the upper rear wheel wells. The parts needed are readily available in the used parts market.
The car runs and drives excellent with no issues.
Contact me if you have any questions

No rust Dave, I can not do a leak down at this point, but the leak down 4 years ago was perfect and the car has only done a couple thousand miles. I see no evidence in the oil or performance that would indicate any issues whatsoever.

  • davelawrence (registered bidder) 1 month, 4 weeksago

How is the areas that usually rust like under the battery and door seals, etc. Is the car “rust free”?
Also, can you do a leak down test or compression test on the engine. Thank you. Dave

  • Mccheez (seller) 2 monthsago

@jmporsche944 The car does not have Cats. The heat exchangers and everything are on the engine. It would need a front air distribution system and controls. I believe there is still wiring. Joe Frazar is coming to comment to provides some more texture. Thanks

  • jmporsche944 (registered bidder) 2 monthsago

@Mccheez Thank you!! I see you listed an aftermarket exhaust, I just want to confirm that the car still has catalytic converters (I’d need to SMOG the car in CA). And, I see heat is listed, but it looks like the heating controls are removed. Is there still heat in the car?

Do you happen to know if there is still wiring for the radio/speakers present?

    Thank you!

  • Mccheez (seller) 2 monthsago

@tommeron the seats are a very dark brown / black shade to them. But look great in the car. The Oasha seats are gone, they were traded towards the real sports seats in a pattern that I preferred much more. The R tail lights were also traded for the real tail lights. Sorry the others are not available. The car has only done maybe 2k miles since that last test, and runs excellent so I found no reason to do that again. Unfortunately I am away from the car and can’t do that at this point.

  • tommeron (registered bidder) 2 monthsago

@seller Is the seat leather brown or black? A couple of the pictures look brown and others black. I assume you recovered the previous pasha seats and don't still have them separately? Do you have any of the old parts? (back seats, tail lights for example)

And then, are you able to perform any leakdown or compression tests? Looks like they were strong 4 years ago.

  • vintage914racer 2 monthsago

Curious if the Carrera side script is painted to decals?

  • Mccheez (seller) 2 monthsago

They are posted under the attachments above.

  • UpNorthMN (registered bidder) 2 monthsago

Love Iris blue. Could you post receipts from the work you've had completed?

  • Mccheez (seller) 2 monthsago

@jmporsche944 Thank you for the bid and for the questions. Beyond the receipts for the work we have completed, There just isnt much. The engine does not have any major leaks, it does not leave any oil when parked for extended times. I have not detailed the under carriage and as you can see it is just basic 911. Not without and oil or dirt, but no evidence of Seal leaks. The car runs and shifts amazing, but I can not speak as to any engine or transmission work that was done prior to my ownership. The car has never not started right up and runs incredibly strong. I do not believe the engine is completlly stock as it seems stronger than most other 100k mile 3.2s I have driven, but I do not have any specific information. Sorry. Same with the trans. I personally love the 915 trans. I will share the BAT link from the last time the car traded publicly. https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1985-porsche-911-carrera-92/ You can see where we added the Air, Changed the seats and I am not a fan of the 911R tail lights, so they were replaced with the correct lights. Thanks!

  • jmporsche944 (registered bidder) 2 monthsago

Beautiful car!!! Looks like an awesome drivers RS.

Has there been any top/bottom end motor work done? Any oil leaks, drips or seeping present?

Has the 915 ever been rebuilt/serviced?

Can you confirm catalytic converters are still on the car?

And, is there still heat in the car? Aftermarket AC looks great - I don't see any heating controls on the dash.

    Thank you in advance!

Ready to go and I will be available daily to return comments. I own and have owned many of these cars. When I get one it goes to Joe with an open checkbook and the direction to make it do everything it was built to do, even better if possible and make it reliable. When i do decide to let a car go, the next care taker is always thrilled. I sought this car out and made it awesome as a keeper, but Car week is coming up in Monterey and I have my eye on an Amazing 964 RS Carrera, so I had to make a decision to sell a couple of cars to finance my next dream car.
